11 June June 12, 2009June 12, 2009Hovering on High: Obama Surveys the WorldBy Charles KrauthammerWASHINGTON
-- When President Obama returned from his first European trip, I
observed that while over there he had been "acting the philosopher-king
who hovers above the fray mediating" between America and the world. Now
that Obama has returned from his "Muslim world" pilgrimage, even the
left agrees. "Obama's standing above the country, above -- above the
world. He's sort of God," Newsweek's Evan Thomas said to a concurring
Chris Matthews, reflecting on Obama's lofty perception of himself as
the great transcender.
Not that Obama considers himself divine. (He sees himself as merely
messianic, or, at worst, apostolic.) But he does position himself as
hovering above mere mortals, mere country, to gaze benignly upon the
darkling plain beneath him where ignorant armies clash by night, blind
to the common humanity that only he can see. Traveling the world, he
brings the gospel of understanding and godly forbearance. We have all
sinned against each other. We must now look beyond that and walk
together to the sunny uplands of comity and understanding. He shall
guide you. Thus:
(A) He told Iran that, on the one hand, America once helped
overthrow an Iranian government, while on the other hand "Iran has
played a role in acts of hostage-taking and violence against U.S.
troops and civilians." (Played a role?!) We have both sinned; let us
bury the past and begin anew.
(B) On religious tolerance, he gently referenced the Christians of
Lebanon and Egypt, then lamented that the "divisions between Sunni and
Shia have led to tragic violence" (note the use of the passive voice).
He then criticized (in the active voice) Western religious intolerance
for regulating the wearing of the hijab -- after citing America for
making it difficult for Muslims to give to charity.
(C) Obama offered Muslims a careful admonition about women's rights,
noting how denying women education impoverishes a country -- balanced,
of course, with "meanwhile, the struggle for women's equality continues
in many aspects of American life."
Well, yes. On the one hand, there certainly is some American
university where the women's softball team has received insufficient
Title IX funds -- while, on the other hand, Saudi women showing ankle
are beaten in the street, Afghan school girls have acid thrown in their
faces, and Iranian women are publicly stoned to death for adultery.
(Gays, as well -- but then again we have Prop 8.) We all have our
shortcomings, our national foibles. Who's to judge?
That's the problem with Obama's transcultural evenhandedness. It
gives the veneer of professorial sophistication to the most
simple-minded observation: Of course there are rights and wrongs in all
human affairs. Our species is a fallen one. But that doesn't mean that
these rights and wrongs are of equal weight.
A CIA rent-a-mob in a coup 56 years ago does not balance the
hostage-takings, throat-slittings, terror bombings and wanton
slaughters perpetrated for 30 years by a thug regime in Teheran (and
its surrogates) that our own State Department calls the world's "most
active state sponsor of terrorism."
True, France prohibits the wearing of the hijab in certain public
places, in part to allow the force of law to protect Muslim women who
might be coerced into wearing it by neighborhood fundamentalist gangs.
But it borders on the obscene to compare this mild preference for
secularization (seen in Muslim Turkey as well) to the violence that has
been visited upon Copts, Maronites, Baha'i, Druze and other minorities
in Muslim lands, and to the unspeakable cruelties perpetrated by
Shiites and Sunnis upon each other.
Even on freedom of religion, Obama could not resist the compulsion
to find fault with his own country: "For instance, in the United
States, rules on charitable giving have made it harder for Muslims to
fulfill their religious obligation" -- disgracefully giving the
impression to a foreign audience not versed in our laws that there is
active discrimination against Muslims, when the only restriction,
applied to all donors regardless of religion, is on funding charities
that serve as fronts for terror.
Obama undoubtedly thinks he is demonstrating historical magnanimity
with all these moral equivalencies and self-flagellating apologetics.
On the contrary. He's showing cheap condescension, an unseemly hunger
for applause and a willingness to distort history for political effect.
Distorting history is not truth-telling, but the telling of soft
lies. Creating false equivalencies is not moral leadership, but moral
abdication. And hovering above it all, above country and history, is a
sign not of transcendence but of a disturbing ambivalence toward one's
own country.

ObamaLaw (and increasingly the following of ONLY ObamaLaw) is now
the official decree of DIC (Dictator in Chief) Obama in and for
Obama-Land—formerly known as the United States of America. Think that
statement is an exaggeration? Really? Well—let’s take a look, shall
we?
- The Obama Thugocracy has commandeered the largest banks in the
USA for its personal use. Although the Obama Syndicate’s monetary
resources are not yet—completely—unlimited, they soon will be. By the
way, where has this money gone? The definition of Obama Transparency
is “65o hide from any and all for as long as possible. And bear in
mind, he is using OUR money to both extort the banks and rule more
powerfully over We-the-People. Behind closed doors, the banks were
told by President George W. Bush’s former US Treasury Secretary and
Obama supporter Henry Paulson that they must agree to take government bailout
money “or else.” This has come to be known as “an offer they couldn’t
refuse.” This “offer” was followed by DIC Obama’s comment to the bank
CEOs: “My administration is the only thing between you and the
pitchforks!” Note: This is a Jesse Jackson-type shakedown that has
been taken to previously untried monumental levels. See Ken
Timmerman’s book “Shakedown” for complete information. Threatening
private enterprise—if it does not submit and allow ObamaTheft—with the
weight of the US Government is not only unconstitutional it veritably
screams and shouts that the US government has now become a massive
criminal enterprise—increasingly run by Obama and his
accountable-to-no-one-but-Obama Czars.
- Using similar gangster-tactics that worked with the cowering bank
CEOs, Obama has taken over two of the US’ car companies. One of them,
Government Motors (formerly known as General Motors), was seized by the
Obama Syndicate and its spoils split between it and the United Auto
Workers union leadership. Again, the Obama dictatorship used
We-the-People’s money to finance
its deal that places OUR money and power into the pockets of the Obama
political elite—and only those political elite. Unconstitutional? Of
course. Criminal? Of course. So—is anyone trying to stop Obama’s
unconstitutional and criminal seizure of US power? Of course—NOT. It
appears the former “loyal opposition” is also cowering in fear of and
from the US dictator.
- Additional information on Obama’s confiscation of 2/3 of the US
Auto Industry is that his new “Car Czar” Steven Rattner—who has thus
far avoided any and all interviews from the press and any and all
questions from Congress—is a 31 year old lawyer whose only experience
with cars is that of having driven them or having been driven while in
them. Obama—in his unswerving despotic “wisdom”—has also appointed
another ‘I know nothing about the auto industry’ guys—former AT&T
Chief Edward E. Whitacre, Jr. as Chairman of GM. In other words, GM is
neither expected nor planned to be successful. Instead—like both
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac—the new Government Motors appears to be no
more than a new giant slush fund for Democrats.
- A smiling Obama has already admitted that the US is out of money.
It’s amazing that by Obama having placed his mind and adherents to the
task he was able to successfully bankrupt
the country in no time at all! Sadly, I predicted this almost a year
ago. However, Obama also states that he has no intention of slowing
his spending. Instead, he will simply authorize the printing of more
increasingly worthless US money. Then, he will tax…tax…tax the
American people to death as he works toward his next arena for
destruction—the US Energy industry; which will increase yearly/family
energy costs by at least $4,000. All the while, Obama remains smiling
at the stupid masses who allowed the “election” of a non-citizen
usurper to the presidency of the United States. And, in order to
further ensure the subservience of the former American people (soon to
be called Obamaites) the US Dictator in Chief plans to control the US
Health System. In this way, Obama, his “Health Czar” and his
soon-to-be-established Department of Health Police will be able to
dictate who receives medical care and who does not (therefore
ultimately who lives and who dies), what We-the-People can eat and not
eat, what actions we can engage in and those in which we are not
allowed to engage etc. etc. etc. After seizing heathcare from the
private sector and placing it firmly in Obama’s governmental hands his
power over us will be unlimited. And with no one having the
testosterone or internal fortitude to stand up to him, Obama’s position
of US Dictator for Life is only a moment or two away.
Once the US was a government of laws—not men. Now, however, it has
degraded into a government of one man; a man who does not even appear
to be a natural-born US citizen as required by the US Constitution.
But, until and unless anyone decides to fight for its preservation, the
US Constitution is now null and void. Then, to add more insult to more
injury, the Obama Administration is now requiring that “high value
terrorist detainees” INSIDE OF AFGHANISTAN be given US Miranda Rights.
Folks, sanity has not only left the building it has left the country.
The totalitarian insane are now firmly and unequivocally in charge and
running the country—into the abyss.

Thank you all very very much.
And
I want to thank Mitch McConnell and John Boehner for inviting me on
behalf of the two committees and I want to thank John Cornyn and Pete
Sessions for having been such gracious hosts. I also want to thank
Governor Palin and Todd for coming tonight and for being part of this.
When
Callista and I came in with Sarah and Todd, and we came to the bottom
of the steps over here, John McCain was there very graciously welcoming
us. And I have to tell all of you that despite every effort of the
elite media to prop up Joe Biden and pretend he actually knows what
he’s doing, I felt that looking at John McCain and Sarah Palin that
this country would have been amazingly better off had they been in the
White House.
I also want to say that I think on behalf of
both campaign committees that Jon Voight has given you your battle cry
for the next year and a half. And I say this having once with Haley
Barbour and Bob Dole crisscross the country when we had been out of
power for forty years and people thought we were absolutely out of our
minds to suggest that we could actually win a majority.
I
think the phrase “do not tell me it can’t be done,” is about a good a
way to start thinking about 2010 and 2012 as you can imagine. And I
think our goal should be to reach out to the American people in every
possible way. To make sure that John Boehner becomes the Speaker of the
House in January of 2011, that Mitch McConnell becomes the Senate
majority leader, and this is a one term presidency in the Jimmy Carter
tradition.
Let me be candid, watching that video, a lot has
changed since 1994, then I was a father and my two daughters Kathy and
Jackie are here tonight, and we’re thrilled that they’re here. But now
I am a grandfather, Maggie is 9 and Robert is 7. Then I was an elected
official who had been a college teacher, now Callista and I run four
small businesses. Like the 26 million other small business owners, we a
burdened with payroll taxes, red tape, and all of the challenges of
trying to create jobs in a government hostile environment.
Back
then I came to chair the Medicare reform task force, now I’m on
Medicare. Back then I went to the movies, now Callista and I make
movies. So I recognize that 2009 is not 1994. But I want to say to all
of you as Republicans, we have been here before. 1964, 1977, 1993, in
each we had lost, they had been hard years, the news media was
gleefully hoping we would disappear. 1965 was followed by a 1966 in
which we picked up 47 house seats, swept the major governorships
including electing Ronald Reagan in California. Two years later in 1968
we began the first of forty years of presidency in which no overt
liberal in forty years won the presidency. 1977, when Jimmy Carter’s
inaugural day popularity was higher than Barack Obama’s was followed by
1980.in which Ronald Reagan won a decisive victory and fundamentally
changed the course of America.1993, in which Bill Clinton was creating
a new democratic party was followed by 1994 in which the Democratic
Party suffered its worst defeat in forty years.
Now history
teaches us that there is a clear road back to a majority, that this is
a time for optimism, for solutions, and for a focus on hope and
opportunity. We must focus on solving America’s problems and creating
solutions for America. The American people will take care of the
Republican Party if we will work with them and focus on helping them.
Consider
California. Last November, then Senator Obama got 61 percent of the
vote, clearly a blue state by the current method of coloring things.
But in May, stopping taxing and spending in Sacramento got 64 percent
of the vote and gave us an example of the great challenge facing the
Republican Party. Think about this, 64 percent of the people of
California said Sacramento is such a mess they rejected raising taxes
and raising spending. They wanted fundamental change in Sacramento. 64
percent would be a massive majority in our largest state for a party
that only a year ago – less than a year ago – got 39 percent. But
notice the challenge to many Republicans. The referendum failed n every
county. That is a majority of the voters of San Francisco voted no. Now
one of the challenges to the Republican Party, are we prepared to be
inclusive and not exclusive.
Let me be clear, and I say this
having been active and thinking about this party and thinking about
governing this country for 51 years. I am happy that Dick Cheney is a
Republican, I am also happy that Colin Powell in a Republican. A
majority Republican Party will have lots of debates within the party.
That is the nature of majorities. Remember, Reagan carried 49 states in
1984, and a lot of them were not hard core conservatives. Reagan won in
198- by appealing to independents and unhappy Democrats. There’s not a
single Reagan speech where he doesn’t say “my fellow Republicans, and
those independents and Democrats who are looking for a better future.”
There were not enough Republicans to win in 1980, in fact we were – I
believe – 21 percent of the electorate by identity in 1979.
Now
inclusion does not mean lack of principles. Like Reagan – and Callista
and I just did a movie you saw last night called Ronald Reagan:
Rendezvous with Destiny with Dave Bossie and Citizens United. Like
Reagan, I am for first principles. Tonight, I am going to apply first
principles to three areas. One – strengthening our unique American
civilization, Two – strengthening our national and homeland security,
Three – Building a productive America with the best jobs and greatest
prosperity in the world.
First, we must strengthen our unique
American civilization. Let me be clear, I am not a citizen of the
world. I think that the entire concept is intellectual nonsense and
stunningly dangerous. There is no world sovereignty, there is no world
system of law - there is in fact no circumstance under which I would
like to be a citizen of North Korea, Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Cuba, or
Russia. I am a citizen – I am a citizen of the United States of
America. And, the rest of this speech is about the United States of
America.
America is a unique civilization. Callista and I, a
couple of years ago, did a movie called Rediscovering God in America
which is a walking tour of this city. We did it deliberately. It was
our answer to the 9th circuit court, which is in fact irrationally out
of touch with this country, and which actually ruled that ‘One Nation
Under God’ was unconstitutional. Grounds, in my judgment, for
abolishing the court and re-recruiting it. That is not a radical
position. Thomas Jefferson eliminated 18 out of 35 federal judges, over
one half of all federal judges. I am merely proposing one court of
appeals. I am a moderate on this issue.
But the core of this
is a very straightforward historic debate. It is not a theological
debate, it is not a religious debate, despite every effort of the elite
media and the academic left to distort it. It is a fundamental question
of political history. If you go to the national archives, you will find
the Declaration of Independence, a political document. It says, “We are
endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights among which are
life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” This is fundamental to
the nature of America. We are the only country in history that says,
“your personal rights come from God directly to you, and you loan the
government sovereignty.” But the center of sovereignty in America is
inevitably inexorably with the citizen because it is inalienable.
That’s the core document of this country.
That is why quotas
and Sotomayor are wrong, that is why rationing in healthcare is wrong.
No government bureaucrat has the right to take from you the rights that
God gave you, and rationing under healthcare is inevitably limiting
your life at the whim of a bureaucrat and at the manipulation of a
politician.
The greatest articulator of this belief was the
first Republican President. A man who tragically presided over a civil
war in which 620,000 Americans died to end slavery, unlike president
Obama’s Cairo speech, it was not an act of happiness, it was a
fundamental and stunningly painful expression of our willingness to
live and die for the beliefs that make men free.
It’s worth
looking at Lincoln because he is speaking only four yeas after the
founding of the Republican Party. And, by the way, if you want absolute
proof you cannot teach American history honestly and accurately without
reference to God, go to the Lincoln Memorial, read the second inaugural
– March 1865 – 703 word – 14 references to God – Two quotes from the
Bible – and explain to me how you would teach Lincoln accurately and
honestly without explaining his attitudes.
I’m going to quote
from Lincoln for a minute. It is a little bit longer than good speech
making tolerates, but I’m doing it quite deliberately. I want to reset
in you the passion, the sincerity, the authenticity of the Declaration
of Independence in making us a unique country. In his 1858 debates with
Douglass, only four years after the founding of our Party, Lincoln said
the following:
“Posterity might look up again to the
Declaration of Independence, and take courage to renew the battle which
their fathers began, so that truth, and justice and mercy, and all the
humane and Christian virtues might not be extinguished from the land;
so that no man would hereafter dare to limit and circumscribe the great
principles on which the temple of liberty was being built.
Now,
my countrymen, if you have been taught doctrines conflicting with the
great landmarks of the Declaration of Independence; if you have
listened to suggestions which would take away from its grandeur, and
mutilate the fair symmetry of its proportions; if you have been
inclined to believe that all men are not created equal in those
inalienable rights enumerated by our chart of liberty, let me entreat
you to come back – return to the fountain whose waters spring close by
the blood of the Revolution. Think nothing of me, take no thought for
the political fate of any man whomsoever, but come back to the truths
that are in the Declaration of Independence.
You may do
anything with me you choose, if you will but heed those sacred
principles. You may not only defeat me for the Senate, but you may take
me and put me to death. While pretending no indifference to earthly
honors, I do claim to be actuated in this contest by something higher
than an anxiety for office. I charge you to drop every paltry and
insignificant thought for any man’s success. It is nothing; I am
nothing; Judge Douglas is nothing. But do not destroy that immortal
emblem of humanity – the Declaration of American Independence.”
That is what this is all about. That is why I am a citizen of the United States of America and not a citizen of the world.
Compare
that passion for individual liberty and individual opportunity with the
quotas, group politics, and the bureaucratic healthcare rationing
advocated by our opponents. This Republican commitment to the
individual did not cease after Lincoln. Reagan in one of his radio
talks in the 1970’s – part of which we have in our movie – said the
following:
“Some of our social planners refer to them as
"the masses" which only proves they don’t know them. I’ve been
privileged to meet people all over this land in the special kind of way
you meet them when you are campaigning. They are not "the masses," or
as the elitists would have it–"the common man." They are very uncommon.
Individuals each with his or her own hopes & dreams, plans &
problems and the kind of quiet courage that makes this whole country
run better than just about any other place on earth.”
And
that’s why rationing is wrong, and that’s why quotas a wrong, because
in fact they eliminate the very power of the individual.
This
commitment to our history and to our first principles leads us to some
profound commitments - having judges that understand that an America
that has driven God from the public square will no longer be the
America that has extended freedom and prosperity for 400 years,
understanding that individual rights and responsibilities are at the
heart of our system, that there are no quotas and no group identities
in the American system, understanding that at Cape Henry where English
speaking settlers first came they erected a cross as their first act in
order to thank God for having gotten across the Atlantic, understanding
that at Jamestown, our first permanent settlement, they established the
principle if your will not work you will not eat – not for the poor but
for the aristocrats who thought they could buy their way out of work.
The work ethic was at the heart of our welfare reform in 1996. It is
the most successful conservative reform in modern times. Sixty five
percent of the people on welfare went to work or went to school.
It
is why we have to teach American history accurately and honestly; and
frankly, replace those professors and those teachers who are unwilling
to be accurate and honest about American history.
It is why
we have to have judges that refer to the American Constitution and
worry about American precedents and reject those would be judges or
replace those judges who insist on quoting foreign precedent and
foreign law, which has no application to the United States of America.
It
is why we recognize that American entrepreneurial capitalism and a free
market will work. And that European socialism will not work in terms of
productivity and prosperity.
Because America is unique it is
worthy of defending. So my second point is – we must ensure national
security and homeland security.
We need a great national debate on five key questions. - Is the world dangerous? - Are there people and governments that would like to destroy us? - What is it worth to keep America and Americans safe from those dangers? - What strategies can defeat our opponents? - What metrics can we use to tell if the strategies are working or failing?
Under
the Obama administration, we have fallen back into the utopian
fantasies and self deception of the 1977 Carter Administration and the
1993 Clinton Administration.
The Reagan movie is a remarkable
portrait of the contrast between idealistic realism and idealistic
utopianism. Let me remind you, Ronald Reagan and his idealistic belief
in democracy announced firmly and clearly that our goal in the Cold War
was “We win, They Lose.” He announced clearly that our opponents were
an evil empire and eleven years after his election the Soviet Union
disappeared. He was both idealistic and realistic.
Jimmy
Carter who was sincere idealist was totally out of touch with reality.
He lived in a world of fantasies and the result was a catastrophic
failure.
The Clinton era failures are similar. Their passion
for mistreating terrorism not as an act of war but as an act of
criminal justice, their refusal to accept the threats to America meant
that they couldn’t cope with the World Trade Center in 1993 which in
part was plotted by a prisoner in Attica prison. It meant that they
could not cope with the Cobar Tower bombing in Saudi Arabia where they
blocked the FBI from going and finding out what happened. It meant that
they couldn’t take real knowledge of the two American embassies bombed
in East Africa, that they couldn’t cope with the bombing of the USS
Cole in Yemen where the ambassador blocked the FBI from looking for
people and therefore during the entire period of the Clinton
Administration the ability of Al Qaeda to plan 9/11 was never stopped,
and the people who were doing it were never stopped, and as a result we
were left in enormous danger.
Again and again the legalisms
and self deceptions of treating enemies as criminals led to more and
more disastrous results. Today, many of the same civil libertarians
defend the accused terrorists – follow criminal proceedings in a war –
ideologues are now in the Obama Justice Department. It’s amazing how
many of them come from law firms which were eagerly giving pro bono
representation to alleged terrorists in Guantanamo.
The
challenge for the Obama Administration is simple. Americans know
better. This isn’t the first issue in which the President is clearly
and decisively on the wrong side and the American people have begun to
get it. By 3 to 1, the American people believe that we are safer with
prisoners in Guantanamo than in America. Now, 3 to 1 is a pretty big
margin.
Guantanamo is a case study is common sense versus
self deception and I thought the President’s decision to deliberately
schedule as a speech opposite Dick Cheney was the first big tactical
mistake of his Presidency. I’m sure what happened was that his
political advisors said to him, “Well, Vice President Cheney has bad
poll numbers, you have good poll numbers, it will be a terrific
contrast.” They forgot a couple of key things. Vice President Cheney
was the youngest Chief of Staff to an American President in history. He
was on the intelligence committee in the House, he was Secretary of
Defense for 4 years, he spent 8 years as Vice President focused on
national security – he actually understands the issue.
The
great difference between Reagan’s rhetorical skills and President
Obama’s rhetorical skills are that Reagan used his rhetorical skills to
shine light on truths and fundamental facts. Obama uses his rhetorical
skills to hide from fundamental facts. If you want a single case, read
the Cheney speech and the Obama speech on the same day. There is a
fundamental mistake, which tells you a great deal about this
administration. Cheney had a fairly simple message – the reason we have
Guantanamo is that we have people at Guantanamo that are dangerous.
They are called terrorists. We call them terrorists because they want
to kill us. It is good not to have them anywhere near us because it
makes it harder for them to kill us. Now the average American could
hear that simple declaredly sentence and say to themselves, “Okay,
there’s the terrorists are okay gang and there’s the terrorists stay in
Guantanamo gang. Uhh, okay, I got it. I’m with the terrorists stay in
Guantanamo gang.” Now the President who had an impossible position was
once said of Lincoln and Douglass that Lincoln was the best lawyer in
Illinois with the good case and Douglass was the best lawyer in
Illinois with the bad case. And I’m beginning to think that President
Obama is in the Douglass tradition. Because the President, who is a
remarkably wonderful orator said, “We are here at a deeply meaningful
moment in which we are going to in a deeply fundamental and meaningful
way engage is discussing a problem that is so complex and difficult
that only myself can present it to you in such a way that you will
fully appreciate the meaningfulness of this moment we have here
together.” And the average American said “Got it. He doesn’t understand
what’s going on.” And they are currently losing this debate by about 3
to 1 and it will get worse if they stick to it, because it is nonsense.
But
we need to build on the lesson of this debate because it’s not about
Guantanamo – it’s about the nature of reality. The lesson of terrorism
is that we have to control our borders. The lesson of terrorism is that
we must have an effective system of legal immigration. We must have a
system of legal temporary workers. We must have a vastly expanded
system of H1 visas for highly qualified workers. We must outsource the
guest worker identity system to Visa, MasterCard, or American Express
because no federal agency could keep up with the fraud if you tried to
internalize it the bureaucracy. And we must assure assimilation into
being Americans by making English the official language of government
and by teaching American history to both first generation immigrants
and to our own children. Now some of you will be told later how can we
appeal to the Latino vote if we are actually in favor of English? The
fact is that if you go to americansolutions.com and click on the
platform, 59 percent of the Hispanic American population favors English
as the official language of government and as Bobby Jindal’s father,
who is a first generation immigrant from India, said to me recently,
“We are crazy if we do not make English the official language of
government. We need it to assimilate everyone from every country into
being American.”
And in that process we have to treat
American history to first generation immigrants and to our own
children. And I believe that we should have a national campaign to
fundamentally redesign the curriculums of every school in this country
so they actually learn American history as a part of their citizenship.
These
steps will make us more secure, more prosperous, and more law abiding.
But the challenge of foreign dangers will remain. Beyond Guantanamo
there are enormous dangers threatening America and our allies. Our
enemies seek weapons of horrifying danger – nuclear weapons,
electromagnetic pulse weapons, biological weapons. Our national and
homeland security systems must become dramatically more robust in order
to cope with these threats and protect America and Americans.
After
9/11 people ask, “why didn’t we think of that attack?” In fact many of
us had, just nobody wanted to pay attention, it was in the
bureaucracies. There is no excuse for not thinking today about the
potentially catastrophic attacks that are threatening us. Our current
Defense and Homeland Security budgets are simply too small and the
bureaucracies are too slow and too cumbersome. We have to meet short
term threats and we have to meet long term threats. The current budget
cannot possibly meet both challenges. Focusing on the short term small
war threat while starving recapitalization of the Navy and Air Force,
under funding science and technology to pay for Afghanistan and Iraq is
a formula for a future collapse in our ability to cope with China and
Russia.
I appreciate what Secretary Gates is trying to do, it
is impossible to defend this country and maintain homeland security on
the current budget. And we frankly need more retired military people
talking out and telling the truth about the decay of our Navy, the
decay of our Air Force, the decay of our long term capabilities, and
the current budget constraints. And I will tell all of you, the future
challenge of China forces a much broader definition of national
security thinking. Meeting the long term challenge of China and India
takes us inevitably the economy, to education, and to fundamental
change.
The key national security question for the next
generation is simply our third topic. What do we have to do to compete
with China and India so our grandchildren live in the most productive
and therefore the most prosperous country in the world? How do we make
America the best place in the world to build the next factory and
create the next high paying job? Unless we solve this, we will
inevitably cease to be the leading power in the world. Nothing keeps me
going everyday more than the thought that I do not want to turn over to
Maggie and Robert the first generation in American history to have
failed to have done its job of fixing the country so our children and
grandchildren are better off not worse off.
Without a strong
economy and without scientific and technological leadership, we cannot
sustain our military leadership capabilities. The economy and education
are national security issues. Competing with China and India will be a
bigger challenge than competing with the Soviet Union in the Cold War.
I commend to all of you Bob Compton’s film 2 Million Minutes – that’s
four years of high school – which shows you vividly two Indian high
school students, two Chinese high school students, and two American
high school students. And at the end of the movie you realize that we a
country aggressively preparing for the 1956 Olympics. We will win no
gold medals at that level. And I recommend to all of you to go to
2mminutes.com to see just how bad the challenge is. To meet that
challenge we have to reform litigation, regulation, taxation,
education, health, energy, and infrastructure. That is the minimum for
us to compete successfully in the next generation with China and India.
Yes, it’s big – I think it is also historically true. And the question
is rather we have the courage to do it. The scale of change requires
all 513,000 elected officials – school board, county commission, state
legislature – not just the Presidency. It requires and tri-partisan
approach - Red, white, and blue majorities – Republicans, Democrats,
and Independents – not Red versus blue majorities. California’s 64
percent is an encouraging sign that if we are creative and we are
articulate and we are clear, then we might just build a red, white, and
blue majority that is truly tri-partisan. We do not need stimulus, we
need growth. We do not need temporary fixes; we need real investment
and real productivity improvements. The key question is: How do we make
America the best place in the world for the next factory and the next
job. The answer is the opposite of the left’s formula. Because we don’t
need stimulus, we don’t need temporary jobs. We need investments to
create permanent productivity increases to sustain permanent jobs.
You
know for years the left talked about trickle down capitalism; it was
one of their favorite attacks. Well, let me offer you an observation.
Trickle down bureaucracy works even less than trickle down capitalism.
The idea that you can pour $787 billion in Washington and have it
somehow create jobs in an effective way is a fantasy of the first
order. Not that the people who voted for it care; their goal was not
productivity and prosperity. Their goal was power and paying off their
allies.
You can tell how badly the stimulus has failed – and
let’s be clear, this is not something President Obama inherited from
George W. Bush – he got his stimulus, on his schedule, for his amount,
delivered by his robots in Congress who did exactly as they were told
without even reading the bill. So he can’t turn around now and say, “Oh
Gosh, George W. Bush made me have a stimulus plan.” This is his plan.
And what happened? They promised we would peak at 8 percent
unemployment and on Friday we were at 9.4 percent, which is not in
their budget which means their budget is already wrecked because we are
going to have higher unemployment, greater government expenses, and
less revenue than they projected because their plan has already failed.
And
let me be clear as a matter of first principle. Bureaucrats
micromanaging companies - Does not work. Politicians dominating the
economy - Does not work. Barney Frank and Chris Dodd are not
substitutes for a sound market economy. Geithner and Summers are not
replacements for Warren Buffet and Bill Gates. We have been here
before. Jimmy Carter and four years of mismanagement got us to 13
percent inflation, 22 percent interest rates sliding into the worst
recession since the Great Depression, and every other day gasoline
rationing in which you could only buy gasoline based on the last number
of your license plate.
How many of you remember when you
could only buy gasoline every other day based on the last number of
your license plate? Raise your hand, this is not a theory alright, this
happened. America, the wealthiest country in the world was reduced by
bad policy, bad politicians, and bad government to rationing gasoline.
My good friend Dave Bossie pointed out that he was only 13 at the time
and every morning his father would give him a screwdriver to go out
back to change the license plate so that the car that needed gas had
the right license plate. And from that I have developed a simple test
for liberal and conservative. If you learned that government rationing
led 13 year olds to change license plates and you conclude that we
should have dropped an idea that dumb, you’re a conservative. If on
hearing Dave Bossie’s story you concluded that we needed license plate
police at every gas station, you are a liberal. It’s that
straightforward.
But we’ve been here before. Let me be clear
as to how disastrous this administration will end up being. Replacing
the rule of law with special interests in bankruptcy does not work.
Having a 31 year old take time off from law school to redesign the auto
industry will not work. In fact, he is a symbol of the arrogance and
lack of realism of this administration.
Paying off ACORN and
other left wing interest groups will not work. You can’t have
capitalism on the way up and socialism on the way down. You are going
to choose between one or the other, I choose capitalism because for 400
years it has been the most productive, the most prosperous highest
quality of life system on the planet.
You have to have the
rule of law not the rule of empathy. You cannot pay off political
allies in violation of contract law, if America begins to resemble
Venezuela and Russia in changing the law to favor political allies and
punish political enemies, our economy will be crippled for a generation.
People
will not invest where politicians can rip them off. And I don’t think
that Barney Frank and Chris Dodd are exactly good advertisements around
the world for the next factory to come to the United States.
So,
how do we get back to economic growth? Raising taxes does not work.
What would work? As Reagan would have said, ‘Let’s go back to First
principles.’ Taxes are a first principle. High taxes kill jobs and
growth. Low taxes encourage jobs and growth. What would a free
enterprise, entrepreneurial market oriented stimulus package be like?
First, let’s get money to the people who work and the businesses that
hire them. If we had a two year 50% reduction in the Social Security
and Medicare tax for both the employee and the employer match, you
would have an extraordinary explosion of small business. You would have
a dramatic increase in employment. You’d have the money available for
businesses to invest without bureaucracies and without politicians. You
would have a dramatic rebound. It would be much better than the
bureaucratic trickle down theories of the left.
As a small
business owner, I know what the impact would be of a two year 50
percent reduction both for the employees and the employer match.
If you want to compete with China for jobs, match the Chinese on capital gains. Their rate is zero.
If you want to compete for profitable businesses creating good jobs, adopt the Irish tax rate of 12.5 percent for corporations.
If
you want to build up capital for investments permanently, abolish the
death tax. It is the biggest single hindrance to average people
creating capital. And by the way, 79 percent of the American people
believe that it is wrong - Morally wrong - to require someone to visit
the under taker and the IRS in the same week.
Now let me make
a key point here, and I want to say this because of Jon Voight’s
wonderful quote, “Do not tell me it can’t be done.” I just outlined for
you the first four tax cuts that ought to be the heart of the
Republican Party. And many of you will say to me, “Well, that’s
unrealistic.” Well, so was a majority in ’94 and so was welfare reform
and so was balancing the budget and so was electing Ronald Reagan and
so was eliminating the Soviet Empire.
This is precisely what
Ronald Reagan meant in 1975 at CPAC when he said, “we cannot have pale
pastels, we need bold colors.” The fact is that if you go to the
country with a genuine free market opportunity and you’re prepared to
win the argument in the Margaret Thatcher phrase, “That first you win
the argument, and then you win the vote.” And you go to the average
small business in this country – you want to reach out to African
Americans, to Koreans, to Vietnamese, to Chinese, to Indians, to
Latinos – you go to every small business in America and say, “Hi, if we
cut your Social Security and Medicare tax by 50 percent and we cut your
match as the employer, would you have more money? Would that be better
than giving the money to General Motors? Would you like that more than
having Rahm Emmanuel spend it? And you suddenly have a conversation
that when they go to their accountant and find out how much money
you’re talking about, they’re going to want to come to the second town
hall meeting. But that requires us to have the courage to have a bold
vision of what a dynamic entrepreneurial market oriented America would
be like – that rewarded work, that rewarded savings, that rewarded
investment, that rewarded risk taking, and was prepared to take on the
corrupt politicians and their corrupt allies head on. That’s the gap we
need.
Some will say, “But how do you cut taxes when we have
such a big deficit?” Remember, big deficits – on the left – mean raise
taxes. Big deficits – on the left – never mean control spending. Well
as John Kasich, our budget committee chairman who I believe is the next
governor of Ohio, could report to you - stopping spending is a lot
better way to balance the budget. Reforming government is a lot better
way to balance the budget. Modernizing and replacing bureaucracies and
failed programs is a better to balance the budget. Again, let me say
this very directly, I am the only Speaker of the House since the 1920’s
to have authored four consecutive balanced budgets. We paid off $405
billion in federal debt and I am quite comfortable telling you that yes
we can balance the budget again if we have a majority and we are in
charge.
Tax increases cannot balance the budget because they
crush the economy which reduces revenues and they encourage the
liberals to spend more. Look at Sacramento and New York. If raising
taxes work, New York and California would have balanced budgets. But
they don’t because the interest groups spend the money as fast as they
find it.
Our record for four years was to control all federal
spending including entitlements at 2.9 percent per year for four years.
The lowest rate increase since Calvin Coolidge, and we did it with a
liberal Democrat in the White House. So don’t tell me it can’t be done.
Now
that means you have to look at how we’d do it? – by the way we also
doubled the size of the National Institutes of Health’s budget and we
passed the first tax cut in sixteen years to accelerate economic growth
and increase revenue through prosperity.
We reformed welfare;
this was not a negative – 92 percent of the American people favored
welfare reform including 88 percent of the people on welfare. By the
time we’d won the argument we were in a position where 2 out of every 3
people on welfare went to work or went to school. They got off of
Medicaid, they quit taking welfare money, they started paying taxes,
their incomes went up, their lives got better. That was real change. We
reformed Medicare when it was scheduled to go broke. We controlled
domestic discretionary spending – only twice since World War II has
domestic discretionary spending gone down – 1981 and 1995. And let me
tell you, these guys are spending so grotesquely I think it would be
easy for domestic discretionary spending to go down dramatically. And I
think the country would be grateful to have less pork flooding out from
politicians and to have more to take home pay from their own hard work.
Today,
there are huge opportunities for controlling spending; the level of
fraud and corruption which has infected our government is staggering.
Let me be blunt, when you read a New York Times story that 97 percent
of the people who retire from the Long Island Railroad are getting
disabilities, you are reading about a society so corrupt that theft has
become the norm. It cost the U.S. taxpayer in the last decade $250
million for theft by Long Island Railroad retirees.
Our
estimate – Jim Frogue at the Center for Health Transformation is going
to have a book come out this summer on Medicare and Medicaid. Our
estimate is the minimum level of fraud in Medicare and Medicaid is
between $75-120 billion per year. The fact is that in South Florida a
couple years ago they closed 17 HIV/AIDS transfusion facilities in the
same day – 5 of the 17 were pizza parlors.
Nobody
understands in America today how bad these governments are, how
incompetent they are, how fundamentally flawed they are, and how many
crooks there are that are living off your tax money and running up your
debt while not providing you a penny in service. And there’s a lot of
places to find the money to have tax cuts, economic growth, and work
back to a balanced budget at the same time. But real growth is more
than just taxes, real growth comes through real encouragement for the
private sector combined with real reform of the government
bureaucracies. We should repeal the Sarbanes-Oxley Bill which has not
accomplished anything in telling us what went on, but cost every
company millions of dollars.
And beyond tax policy, we need
an American energy policy. We need a policy that emphasizes energy in
America and recognizes that the problem is government. It’s not that we
don’t have energy sources. The Bakken Field in North Dakota for
example, in the last three years the estimate has gone up by 25 fold –
2500 percent – the amount of oil available. Natural gas discoveries in
the last six years because of new technology have produced over 100
years supply of natural gas. In oil shale we have three times the
reserves of Saudi Arabia. Brazil proved recently that you can go
offshore and they have gone from 10 billion barrels of reserve to 90
billion barrels of reserve in the Atlantic. We have the largest supply
of coal on the planet and the article in the Wall Street Journal today
is fundamentally foolish because the fact is, at the right price we
have more coal than Saudi Arabia has oil and it is an enormous
potential asset. We have bio-fuels and ethanol in growing abundance. We
have new breakthroughs in hydrogen, electric engines, wind and solar.
America today – in energy- is artificially weakened by bad government
policies which favor imports over American energy. And let me assert
clearly and simply, bowing to the Saudi king is not an energy policy.
For
national security, for the national economy, we should keep the money
here. The next great building boom off of energy ought to be in Denver
not Dubai. And the American people agree that we need an American
energy policy. Last year at American Solutions we launched a petition
drive of ‘Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less’ and in six weeks we had a
million five hundred thousand signatures. 79 percent of the American
people agree that both for economic reasons and for national security
reasons we should develop American energy and that it is a key to our
economic future.
The American people reject an energy tax and
that’s all cap and trade is. I never refer to cap and trade – that’s
just a fancy liberal phrase to hide the reality – this is an energy tax
and every American at every level will pay it and it will export jobs
to China.
The American people reject and imperial
Environmental Protection Agency which is grotesquely exaggerating its
power and one of the bills we should introduce is to replace the
current bureaucratic litigation system at EPA with an entrepreneurial
innovative system that is fundamentally new and different.
Americans
reject the fundamental liberal principle of paying more to get less. I
have confess I began reading the Waxman- Markey bill and I gave up when
I got to the page where they were explaining how they would regulate
Jacuzzis. People who believe that 31 year olds can redesign the energy
industry – I mean can redesign the automobile industry and that
bureaucrats in Washington need to meddle down to a level of making sure
you only get the right Jacuzzi – are people that have lost any sense of
what made America unique, any sense of individual liberty, any sense of
personal freedom, and the correct answer is to simply defeat them, let
them go home, get a tenured faculty job and write books the rest of
their life.
Terry Maple and I wrote a book called Contract
with the Earth, which is an outline of a green conservatism. I used to
teach environmental studies; I believe we can have a sound
environmental policy. But I believe that Americans want a creative,
entrepreneurial, and effective policy for ample energy at reasonable
prices with the money staying in America.
Finally, I think if
we want to compete with China and India we have to confront the
challenge of education. In 1983, I participated when the Reagan
Administration released A Nation at Risk which said that our schools
are so bad that if a foreign power was doing to our children what we
are doing to them, we would consider it an act of war. Nothing much has
changed. The poorest kids in America are trapped in schools that are
grotesquely bad. They are more likely to go to jail than to go to
college. Their lives are very limited by the very failure to learn.
In
2001, I participated in the report from the Hart-Rudman Commission
which President Clinton and I created. We looked out to 2025 in
national security; we said that the greatest threat to the United State
– this was in March before 9/11 – was a weapon of mass destruction
going off in an American city probably from a terrorist group. We said
that the second greatest threat to the United States is the failure in
math and science education and it is a greater threat than any
conceivable conventional war. And not much has been done, despite all
the bureaucracy and all the spending we have an immense distance to go
if we take seriously producing student who are as well educated as the
Chinese and Indian students.
Rev. Al Sharpton actually has it
correct, and it may surprise you to hear me quote him, but I think he’s
onto a very big idea - that ‘education has to become the first civil
right of the 21st century.’
Now is a time to be bold. If we
believe that we are endowed by our creator with certain inalienable
rights, if we are going to be the party that wraps itself around the
Declaration of Independence and stands firm for being Americans then
every child deserves to learn. Every adult that has been lost by bad
education deserves to learn. Every first time prisoner deserves to
learn.
Education is a moral as well as an economic and a
national security issue. I would go much further than the President; I
favor vouchers although I like Senator Lamar Alexander’s formula that
there are simply Pell Grants for K-12. And I would love to have debase
over why Pell Grant are good after 12, but not good for K-12.
But
there is a zone where we can find common ground with President Obama;
he has said consistently in debates including with Senator Clinton in
the primaries that he favors unlimited charter schools. And if we were
to actively and aggressively to ally with him, and to go into every
state in the country and campaign to pass laws at the state level and
to campaign to pass federal laws that rewarded those states that
adopted unlimited charter schools and allowed every parent to have a
choice of any school without having the schools trapped by the unions,
or trapped by the education establishment, or trapped by the
bureaucracy, we would in fact in the matter of a year or two have
fundamentally begun to change the system.
The education
establishment today is trying to kill charter schools all across
America. It is an immoral and a destructive program. It places the
defense of the incompetent ahead of the lives of the children. We need
a ‘Save the Children’ campaign. We also need a ‘Save the Uneducated
Adults’ campaign. And we must take up Chuck Colson’s great breakthrough
with a faith based prison system which has saved the lives of thousands
of people, because we owe it to the almost 2 million Americans in
prison to recognize that they too are endowed by their creator with
certain inalienable rights and we have a deep moral obligation to them.
I believe we have a deep moral obligation to save the unborn, but I
also believe we have a deep moral obligation to care for children after
they have been born and to help every American in every community have
a better future.
We should go boldly into every community.
We should reach out to every American, I think it is vital that we do
that. And let me just say one last brief thing about healthcare because
it is so central to where we are going.
This administration
would destroy the American healthcare system. The New York Times I
think let the cat out of the bag with its cheerful call for a massive
tax increase and for rationing. I think the director of the budget in
his statements of rationing should have frightened all of us. I am
fundamentally, unalterably opposed to comparative effectiveness
becoming the first step towards rationing because if we have been
endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, how can a
government bureaucrat tell you that you don’t deserve the best possible
medicine, the best possible procedure, the best possible hospital?. And
I think the core fight of the next few months will be what we have
worked for years at the Center for Health Transformation on. Can we in
fact develop a health system that is health base, health reform working
on best standards and best procedures, modernizing the system, saving
enormous amount of money which would allow us to fundamentally change
the system. And can we do it without going to a British style national
health system, without gong to a system that blocks Americans from
getting best practices, and which turns power over to a Washington
based bureaucrat to decide whether or not we live.
I think it is a central question to the future of our country.
So
let me just close with the following thought. Republican Party has a
great a moral challenge as it had in 1858 when Lincoln as an unknown
lawyer was campaigning in Illinois. It has as great a challenge as it
had in 1976 when Ronald Reagan, having lost the nomination, was invited
by President Ford to come down and said, “We may be fewer than we have
been, but we have the moral obligation to reach out to every American,
to recruit every person, to make our case for America’s future.”
We
stand for a strong national and homeland security system. We stand for
a solid base in classic American principles. We can offer far better
solutions than the left.
I am very proud to be a Republican
activist. I am committed to American principles. I am committed to
freedom for the individual. I am committed to defending America.
What is at stake is the future of this extraordinary experiment in individual human freedom.
I
hope that each of you will leave here tonight, dedicated for your
children, for your grandchildren, and for your country, to reaching out
to every person that you can touch, to making the decision that we will
win in 2010, and in 2012 in the great tradition of Jimmy Carter – we
will make this one more one term left-wing presidency.
And before you say it can’t be done, let me remind you of Jon Voight’s great quote, “Do not tell me it can’t be done.”
If it was true for FDR, it’s true for us.
Thank you and God Bless you. | |

Is Obama Guilty of Treason?

The answer to one of the above questions is absolutely, YES!

Walter Francis Fitzpatrick, III, on March 17th, (or) LCDR Walter Fitzpatrick is indeed guilty of Mutiny, - “forcible or passive resistance to lawful authority; especially: concerted revolt (as of a naval crew) against discipline or a superior officer.”

God bless the captives--Laura

Misery for social democrats as voters take a turn to the right
Centre-left parties find economic woes and protest votes for extremists adding to humiliation at the ballot box
Franz
Müntefering, chairman of Germany's Social Democrats, said his party's
polls performance was 'significantly worse than expected'. Photograph:
Gero Breloer/AP
Europe's
mainstream centre-left parties suffered humiliation last night when
four days of voting in the EU's biggest-ever election concluded with
disastrous results for social democrats. Results from the
national rounds of the European parliament election across the 27
member states also showed support for centre-right Christian democrats
diminishing in places, but nonetheless notching up handsome victories
in several key states. In Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland,
Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary and the Czech Republic, the centre right won
the elections, with stunning defeats for the left in certain cases. In
the EU's biggest country, Germany, returning 99 of the parliament's 736
seats, the Social Democrats (SPD), the junior partner in Chancellor
Angela Merkel's grand coalition, sunk to an all-time low, with 21% of
the vote. The result was slightly worse than a dismal
performance five years ago that all the opinion polls had predicted
would not be repeated. "The result is significantly worse than we expected," said Franz Müntefering, the SPD's chairman. "This is a difficult evening." Less
than four months before Germany's general election, last night's
outcome augured well for Merkel's hopes of ditching her grand coalition
in favour of a centre-right alliance with the small Free Democrats, who
made the biggest gains, from six to more than 10%. Next door in
Austria, the chancellor and leader of the Social Democrats, Werner
Faymann, led his party to its worst ever election result, just over 23%. In
both countries, the Christian democrats won comfortably, but Merkel's
Christian Democrats and her Bavarian CSU allies were six points down,
on 38%. France's president, Nicolas Sarkozy, claimed triumph with
28% for his UMP party to the Socialists 17%, the first time a sitting
French president has won a European election since the vote began 30
years ago. In Italy, the centre-right government of Silvio
Berlusconi also did well, despite his marital breakdown and scandals
over parties at his Sardinian villa, while in Spain the Socialist
government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero also lost the election to
conservatives. "It is bitterly disappointing, we had hoped for a
better result. In most countries it went pretty bad for us," said
Martin Schulz, the leader of the Socialist group in the European
parliament. With the social democrats licking their wounds and
the centre-right scoring victories whether in power or in opposition,
the other signal trend of the ballot was the breakthroughs achieved by
extreme right-wing nationalists and xenophobes. Following on from
the triumph of Geert Wilders, the anti-Islam campaigner, who came
second with 17% in the Netherlands on Thursday, the hard-right and
neofascists chalked up further victories . The anti-Gypsy
extremists in Hungary, Jobbik, took three of the country's 22 seats; in
Austria two far-right parties mustered 18%, and extreme Slovak
nationalists gained their first seat in the European parliament. Anti-Brussels candidates and Eurosceptics also won more seats in Denmark, Finland, Austria, and the Czech Republic. The
misery for the centre left, exemplified by Germany's SPD and Labour's
traumas in the UK, deepened as results trickled in from other big EU
states, such as France, Italy, Poland, and Spain. The main
opposition for Donald Tusk, the Polish prime minister, is further to
the right, while the leaders in France and Italy appeared to benefit
from tough anti-immigration and law-and-order stances, despite the soap
opera nature of both leaders' private lives. With the jobless
numbers soaring amid the worst economic crisis in the lifetimes of
European voters, the centre left is clearly failing to benefit
politically in circumstances that might be expected to boost its
support. In the Netherlands on Thursday, in the first of the
four-day election marathon, the Dutch Labour party, junior partner in
the government, also took a hammering, losing 11 points to come third
and failing for the first time to lead in at least one of the country's
four big cities. If the social democrats in the big countries of
Europe faced a bout of soul-searching pessimism last night, many of the
smaller EU countries offered little consolation. The opposition
centre-right in Ireland also notched up gains, while the Fianna Fáil
government performed wretchedly. The opposition right in Hungary scored
a landslide victory against a discredited socialist government. Crumbs of comfort for the centre left came from Portugal, Greece, and Malta. But
analysts noted that the protest votes and victories for mavericks could
also be ascribed to a lackluster election campaign in which leaders of
key countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, and the other big
member states failed to project any persuasive pro-European vision in
the midst of the most worrying economic crisis ever experienced by
voters. Yesterday was the big election day, with 18 of the 27
staging ballots, as well as Italy voting for the second day. Britain
and the Netherlands kicked off the voting marathon on Thursday last
week, with a further five countries following on Friday and Saturday. Estimates
of the new balance of power in the 736-seat assembly suggest that the
centre right will have around 270 seats to the socialists' 160, a much
wider margin than predicted. The four-day vote was the biggest
ever for the EU's only directly elected institution, with 375 million
people entitled to choose from more than 10,000 candidates for 736
seats. Hans-Gert Pöttering, the outgoing president, or speaker,
of the European parliament, stressed that Europeans "want" the
parliament, but conceded that that desire would not be reflected in the
turnout. Pöttering, a German Christian Democrat, is likely to be
the sole MEP to serve in all seven parliaments since voting began in
1979. The assembly, he said, closing the final session last
month, is "the centre of a European parliamentary democracy of which we
could only dream in 1979". The damning popular verdict on that
assertion, however, was the lowest turnout in 30 years. It was
estimated at around 43%, compared with 45% last time, and 62% in
Europe's first election in 1979.

BRUSSELS – Conservatives raced toward victory in some of Europe's
largest economies Sunday as initial results and exit polls showed
voters punishing left-leaning parties in European parliament elections
in France, Germany and elsewhere.
Some right-leaning parties said the results vindicated their reluctance
to spend more on company bailouts and fiscal stimulus amid the global
economic crisis.
First projections by the European Union showed center-right parties
would have the most seats — between 263 and 273 — in the 736-member
parliament. Center-left parties were expected to get between 155 to 165
seats.
Right-leaning governments were ahead of the opposition in Germany,
France, Italy and Belgium, while conservative opposition parties were
leading in Britain and Spain.
Greece was a notable exception, where the governing conservatives were
headed for defeat in the wake of corruption scandals and economic woes.
Germany's Social Democrats headed to their worst showing in a
nationwide election since World War II. Four months before Germany
holds its own national election, the outcome boosted conservative
Chancellor Angela Merkel's hopes of ending the tense left-right "grand
coalition" that has led the European Union's most populous nation since
2005.
"We are the force that is acting level-headedly and correctly in this
financial and economic crisis," said Volker Kauder, the leader of
Merkel's party in the German parliament.
France's Interior Ministry said partial results showed the governing
conservatives in the lead, with the Socialists in a distant second and
the Europe Ecologie environmentalist party a close third.
French Socialists said their defeat signaled a need to rethink
left-wing policies if they are to have any hope of unseating President
Nicolas Sarkozy.
An EU estimate showed that only 43 percent of 375 million eligible
voters cast ballots in European parliament elections, a record low amid
widespread disenchantment with the continentwide legislature.
The EU parliament has evolved over five decades from a consultative
legislature to one with the power to vote on or amend two-thirds of all
EU laws. Lawmakers get five-year terms and residents vote for lawmakers
from their own countries.
Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands and five other EU nations cast
ballots over the last three days, while the rest of the 27-nation bloc
voted Sunday.
"Tonight is a very difficult evening for Socialists in many nations in
Europe," Martin Schulz, the leader of the Socialists in the European
Parliament, told party faithful in Brussels via video link from Berlin.
"(We will) continue to fight for social democracy in Europe."
Many Socialists ran campaigns that slammed center-right leaders for
failing to rein in financial markets and spend enough to stimulate
faltering economies.
Graham Watson, leader of the EU's center-right Liberal Democrat
grouping, said early results suggested a rejection of the Socialist
approach.
"People don't want a return to socialism and that's why the majority here will be a center-right majority," he said.
In Spain, the conservative Popular Party won two more seats than the
ruling Socialists — 23 to 21 seats — with over 88 percent of the vote
counted.
Exit polls also showed gains for far-right groups and other fringe parties due to record low turnout.
Britain elected its first extreme-right politician to the European
Parliament, with the British National Party winning a seat in northern
England's Yorkshire and the Humber district.
The far-right party, which does not accept nonwhites as members, was
expected to possibly win further seats as more results in Britain were
announced.
Lawmakers with Britain's major political parties said the far right's
advance was a reflection of anger over immigration issues and the
recession that is causing unemployment to soar.
Near-final results showed Austria's main rightist party gaining
strongly while the ruling Social Democrats lost substantial ground. The
big winner in Austria was the rightist Freedom Party, which more than
doubled its strength over the 2004 elections to 13.1 percent of the
vote. It campaigned on an anti-Islam platform.
In the Netherlands, Geert Wilders' anti-Islamic party took 17 percent of the country's votes, taking four of 25 seats.
The Hungarian far-right Jobbik party won three of 22 seats, with the
main center-right opposition party, Fidesz, capturing 14 seats and the
governing Socialists only four.
Jobbik describes itself as Euro-skeptic and anti-immigration and wants
police to crack down on petty crimes committed by Gypsies. Critics say
the party is racist and anti-Semitic.
Fringe groups could use the EU parliament as a platform for their
extreme views but were not expected to affect the assembly's
increasingly influential lawmaking on issues ranging from climate
change to cell-phone roaming charges.
The parliament can also amend the EU budget — euro120 billion ($170
billion) this year — and approves candidates for the European
Commission, the EU administration and the board of the European Central
Bank.
Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi's Freedom People's Party held a
two-digit lead over his main center-left rival in the most recent
polling despite a deep recession and a scandal over allegations he had
an inappropriate relationship with a young model. Italian results were
being released Monday.
In Britain, Prime Minister Gordon Brown was facing a showdown with
rebel lawmakers on Monday after the party's expected dismal results in
the European parliament and local elections were announced.
Brown has been struggling with the economic crisis and a scandal over
lawmakers' expenses. The opposition Conservatives are expected to win
the next national election, which must be called by June 2010.
An exit poll in Sweden showed the Pirate Party, which advocates
shortening the duration of copyright protection and allowing
noncommercial file-sharing, capturing one seat with 7.4 percent of the
vote.

Changes in the Sun’s Surface to Bring Next Climate Change
spaceandscience.net | Jan 13, 2008
Today, the Space and Science Research Center, (SSRC) in
Orlando, Florida announces that it has confirmed the recent web
announcement of NASA solar physicists that there are substantial
changes occurring in the sun’s surface. The SSRC has further researched
these changes and has concluded they will bring about the next climate
change to one of a long lasting cold era.
Today, Director of the SSRC, John Casey has reaffirmed earlier
research he led that independently discovered the sun’s changes are the
result of a family of cycles that bring about climate shifts from cold
climate to warm and back again.
“We today confirm the recent announcement by NASA that there are
historic and important changes taking place on the sun’s surface. This
will have only one outcome – a new climate change is coming that will
bring an extended period of deep cold to the planet. This is not
however a unique event for the planet although it is critically
important news to this and the next generations. It is but the normal
sequence of alternating climate changes that has been going on for
thousands of years. Further according to our research, this series of
solar cycles are so predictable that they can be used to roughly
forecast the next series of climate changes many decades in advance. I
have verified the accuracy of these cycles’ behavior over the last
1,100 years relative to temperatures on Earth, to well over 90%.”
As to what these changes are Casey says, “The sun’s surface flows
have slowed dramatically as NASA has indicated. This process of surface
movement, what NASA calls the “conveyor belt” essentially sweeps up old
sunspots and deposits new ones. NASA’s studies have found that when the
surface movement slows down, sunspot counts drop significantly. All
records of sunspot counts and other proxies of solar activity going
back 6,000 years clearly validates our own findings that when we have
sunspot counts lower then 50 it means only one thing – an intense cold
climate, globally. NASA says the solar cycle 25, the one after the next
that starts this spring will be at 50 or lower. The general opinion of
the SSRC scientists is that it could begin even sooner within 3 years
with the next solar cycle 24. What we are saying today is that my own
research and that of the other scientists at the SSRC verifies that
NASA is right about one thing – a solar cycle of 50 or lower is headed
our way. With this next solar minimum predicted by NASA, what I call a
“solar hibernation,” the SSRC forecasts a much colder Earth just as it
has transpired before for thousands of years. If NASA is the more
accurate on the schedule, then we may see even warmer temperatures
before the bottom falls out. If the SSRC and other scientists around
the world are correct then we have only a few years to prepare before
20-30 years of lasting and possibly dangerous cold arrive.”
When asked about what this will mean to the average person on the
street, Casey was firm. “The last time this particular cycle
regenerated was over 200 years ago. I call it the “Bi-Centennial Cycle”
solar cycle. It took place between 1793 and 1830, the so-called Dalton
Minimum, a period of extreme cold that resulted in what historian John
D. Post called the ‘last great subsistence crisis.’ With that cold came
massive crops losses, food riots, famine and disease. I believe this
next climate change will be much stronger and has the potential to once
more cause widespread crop losses globally with the resultant ill
effects. The key difference for this next Bi-Centennial Cycle’s impact
versus the last is that we will have over 8 billion mouths to feed in
the next coldest years where as we had only 1 billion the last time.
Among other effects like social and economic disruption, we are facing
the real prospect of the ‘perfect storm of global food shortages’ in
the next climate change. In answer to the question, everyone on the
street will be affected.”
Given the importance of the next climate change Casey was asked
whether the government has been notified. “Yes, as soon as my research
revealed these solar cycles and the prediction of the coming cold era
with the next climate change, I notified all the key offices in the
Bush administration including both parties in the Senate and House
science committees as well as most of the nation’s media outlets.
Unfortunately, because of the intensity of coverage of the UN IPCC and
man made global warming during 2007, the full story about climate
change is very slow in getting told. These changes in the sun have
begun. They are unstoppable. With the word finally starting to get out
about the next climate change, hopefully we will have time to prepare.
Right now, the newly organized SSRC is the leading independent research
center in the US and possibly worldwide, that is focused on the next
climate change. Some of the world’s brightest scientists, also experts
in solar physics and the next climate change have joined with me. In
the meantime we will do our best to spread the word along with NASA and
others who can see what is about to take place for the Earth’s climate.
Soon, I believe this will be recognized as the most important climate
story of this century.”

A shadow government has been defined as a “’government-in-waiting’
that remains in waiting with the intention of taking control of a
government in response to some event.” With the Obama Shadow Government
(which he has staffed and continues to staff with old Soviet-styled
“Czars” who are accountable ONLY to him) the “some event” appears to be
a series of events that Dictator in Chief Barack Hussein Obama and his
followers have created themselves and brought to bear upon the
current—traditional—US government. Have any of you heard dissent from
anyone in the Democrat-controlled US Congress? We certainly won’t hear
any from the now almost completely State-run Obama media.
With his now-over-20 Czars whose sole purpose is to control
We-the-People and our currently-being-flushed-down-the-toilets way of
life, Obama has almost completed the foundational building of his
totalitarian regime. One of Obama’s soon to be instilled (again with
NO accountability to Congress or anyone other than the new US dictator)
is a “Pay Czar” who will determine what We-the-People (beginning with
CEOs and then extending to the proletariat-poor [by Obama-design]
working class) are allowed to earn. Big Brother has arrived and he
hates all of us—except those who genuflect before him and willingly
give him all of their possessions.
Obama’s Totalitarian Czars
Included amongst (but certainly not limited to) the dictator’s czars
are a “Health Czar” (who will determine who can and cannot receive
medical care—one presumes Conservatives will be SOL) to oversee
Dictator Obama’s Universal Healthcare (which will soon after its
implementation provide healthcare for few and eventually no one save
the Obama Elite), a “Car Czar” (who is 31 years of age and an attorney
who has never even run a small business) to determine what cars are
allowed to be manufactured in the USA, a “Great Lakes Cleanup Czar” (in
saner times the comment to this appointment would be “He has to be
kidding!”), a “Cyber Czar” to determine the content of the US
Internet—NOT to check on real terrorists—including who may and may not
post commentary (Obama’s opposers will soon be banned) and now his “Pay
Czar.” The US Constitution is now moot and—via lack of use or
importance to the current administration—null and void. In other
words, We-the-People no longer—officially—exist.
Tipping point for end of US Republic reached
The “tipping point” that ends the USA’s Republic that many had wondered
about has now been reached. Not one of our so-called “leaders” is
really even questioning the usurper to the US presidency. Either they
don’t care, are afraid of the dictator and his exponentially-increasing
power or agree with him that American citizens can no longer be allowed
to be in charge of their country and its policies. Oh—and for those of
you who still think you can vote Obama and his Commissars out of office
in 2010 and 2012 respectively you can forget it. Obama is planning to
rule the USA for life. Once his almost absolute power over us has been
attained—and with his current speed that will be VERY soon—the Republic
will be officially ended. Obama has no plans to relinquish power over
the USA and its citizens—ever. He and his cohorts have
already—although unofficially—disbanded the US Constitution and
rendered it effectively moot. Soon, its end will be official. Leftist
judges are now ruling—with increasingly wild abandon—against this
Constitution. Judi McLeod and Jean Coutu ask in their recent column
“End of Live Free or Die Rally end of free assembly for America?” It
strongly appears the answer is “Yes.”
When even Russian columnists see the USA as now being a communist
country it remains a mystery as to why so many living in it refuse to
admit it. Tragically, it seems that most of these American sheeple
will never wake up.
Shadow Government:
‘Remaking’ of America:
A Czar you can believe in:

American Capitalism gone with a whimper:

Now it's on to Normandy, to apologize to the Germans. It's the least an American president can do after the way the Allied armies left so much of Europe in rubble. There's a lot of groveling to do for what America accomplished in the Pacific, too.
This prospect should appeal to Barack Obama,
who relishes the role of Apologizer-in-Chief. Apologizing for manifold
sins against civilization is not always easy, but it's simple enough:
"Blame America First." You just open a vein and let it flow. In Cairo,
Mr. Obama opened an artery.
America,
unlike the president, is guilty of hubris, arrogance and cant. All that
must change. "Change" is what the smooth-talking Chicago
messiah says he is all about. "Given our interdependence, any world
order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will
inevitably fail," he told the Muslim elites Thursday at Cairo U. "So
whatever we think of the past, we must not be prisoners of it." It's
not "a world order" that elevates America, but events. No other country
is as
generous, as forgiving, as willing to sacrifice blood and bone when the
world calls for help. If not America, who? Hasn't the president heard?
Big
talkers don't know when to stop when they're on a rhetorical roll
because they can't remember which facts are actually facts and which
"facts" they're making up. Mr. Obama even attributed the Golden Rule,
from the teachings of Christ, to "every religion." In an interview
before the Cairo speech, he called the United States one of "the
largest Muslim countries," based on its Muslim population, and he later
put the number of Muslims in America at 7 million, more than even most Islamic advocacy groups claim. The most reliable estimate, by the nonpartisan Pew research organization, is 1.8 million. That would make the United States the 48th "largest" Muslim nation, just behind Montenegro. Mr. Obama often has trouble with numbers, big and small; he once boasted of having campaigned in 57 states.
Mr.
Obama described himself as "a Christian, but," and offered a hymn to
the Muslim roots he insisted during the late presidential campaign he
didn't have. He invoked his middle name, "Hussein," as evidence that he
was one of "them." The Obama campaign insisted last year that anyone
who uses the middle name was playing with racism.
He
told the Cairo audience that "to move forward we must say openly the
things we hold in our hearts," but he wasted the opportunity to
forcefully instruct Muslims that respect and appreciation must be
mutual. While conceding the mote in American eyes, he said almost
nothing about the beam that blinds Muslim eyes. He enumerated the
"sources of tension" between Islamic countries and the West and never
mentioned terrorism. He chided the West for its harsh view of Islamic
treatment of women - "I reject the view of some in the West that a
woman who chooses to cover her hair is somehow less equal" - and
suggested that denying education to women is the gravest Muslim sin
against women. He could have denounced "honor killings," forced marriages and how women in Muslim countries are flogged on the pretext of minuscule violations of eighth-century Sharia law.
But it was more fun to fish for applause by berating America and throwing rocks at Israel. "Let there be no doubt: The situation for the Palestinian people
is intolerable. America will not turn our backs on the legitimate
Palestinian aspiration for dignity, opportunity and a state of their
own." Israel, he said, must "live up to its obligations," but he had
hardly a word of rebuke for the long record of broken Palestinian
promises. It was a remarkable insult to an absent ally, delivered to the applause of Israel's sworn enemies.
Mr.
Obama's revelation of his "inner Muslim" in Cairo reveals much about
who he is. He is our first president without an instinctive
appreciation of the culture, history, tradition, common law and
literature whence America sprang. The genetic imprint writ large in his
43 predecessors is missing from the Obama DNA. He no doubt meant no
offense in returning that bust of Churchill ("Who he?") or imagining
that a DVD of American movies was appropriate in an exchange of state
gifts with Gordon Brown.
Nor did he likely understand why it was an offense against history (and
good manners) to agree to the exclusion of the Queen from Saturday's
commemoration of the Anglo-American liberation of France. Kenya simply routed Kansas.
The
great Cairo grovel accomplished nothing beyond the humiliation of the
president and the embarrassment of his constituents, few of whom share
his need to put America on its knees before its enemies. No president
before him has ever shamed us so.

The column here today is in the form of an ‘Open Letter’ to a writer
who I will call only “Jim” though I am sure he or she will recognize
who I am addressing. Jim expressed his concerns to me regarding the
“leaning” of Obama to Socialistic thinking, stating, “His ‘first 100
days’ is a testimony to socialism which in my mind is worse than
treason to what our great country has stood for, fought for, and paid
for dearly in human lives.”
I get other letters that hold similar views and make like
statements, though perhaps not all quite as eloquent. It makes me feel
that somehow there are a lot more of these types of people than there
are of the types that succeeded in putting this illegal office holding
president in our highest and most revered place of governance.
I have to respond to Jim by saying to him and all others of a like mind, “You are on the right track with your thinking.”
The first thing we did wrong was to elect a president who has
failed to prove that he legally qualifies for that office according to
the requirements of the United States Constitution, the mighty
document, put together by our founding fathers which calls for any
applicant to be a natural born citizen of the United States. He should
have been disqualified as a contender by the leadership of the Democrat
Party as soon as he officially entered the race to participate in that
party’s primaries.
The leadership of the party declared by any candidate should be
responsible for at the very least, insuring Constitutional eligibility
of a declared candidate to compete in the primary race for the office.
The Democrat Party either totally ignored their responsibility or
deliberately bypassed it. In either case, they abridged their right to
hold office themselves by such actions. You can’t just blame the
dishonest candidate for entering his or her name while in violation of
the Constitutional requirements; the overseers of the Party should
share the blame for not making the ineligibility publicly known.
Obama holds office illegally, and can not be removed because of too
many “bought and paid for” judges who owe their current positions in
our judicial system to people going as far back as Clinton and Carter.
George Bush was highly negligent in filling vacancies on the bench when
he had a majority in both houses of Congress which could have reversed
or at least mitigated the current discrepancy of liberal judges.
This “super elite” group has gotten more power and arrogance than
should have ever been allowed to happen. As our country has struggled,
these complicits have gained in strength and are probably vastly
underwritten financially by the likes of communists like George Soros
and the ACLU, both admitted Communist people and organizations.
These two organizations, Soros’s is called MoveOn.org, are in
existence solely to bring America to its knees in deference to
socialist/communist/Marxist philosophies. They will not finish until
our Constitution is officially discarded and a Communist Manifesto is
in its place. By that time, all signs of capitalism will have
disappeared; large Capitalist manufacturing icons and financial
institutions will disappear as the government takes control of our
lives from cradle to grave as happens in all socialist countries.
There is not one successful socialist country in the world; United
States and Great Britain were once models of successful countries, but
the Muslims are succeeding in crippling and taking control of British
mainland even to the point of creating “no-go” areas for non-Muslims
which are increasing with time. One can only guess how much longer
Britain will be able to exist as it has in the past.
Which provides the impetus for the many world-wide enclaves of
envious and democracy hating people who wish to see America fall.
Among the intelligent members of these dissidents it is known that they
will never equal the nirvana of riches and comfort that has been the
hallmark of America, it’s just that they don’t want anyone else to have
it either. So if they can’t have it, no one should have it and they
stop at nothing to make their point.
But the mysterious part of all this is how they have captured so
many normal American Democrat minds convincing them that the elevation
of all of these socialistic/communist people is good for America.
There are, believe it or not, even quite a few Republicans, as high as
25 percent according to one poll, that go along with this brain-washing
and nation changing that is being done to otherwise good common sense
people.
In spite of all the highly evident information available every day as
to the socialistic intentions of this president and his followers, they
still insist that what is being done to this country will be
beneficial. TO WHOM? Certainly not to us the average citizens and
taxpayers who will be burdened heavily with tax bills to pay for the
liberal excesses in spending; my guess is the anti-American foreign
hate-mongers and even those in our midst will be the only ones

I’m afraid that by the time they come out of their stupor and

Solar Cycles Cause Global Warming & Cooling
not Humans
Copyright © 2009, Nick Anthony Fiorenza, All Rights Reserved
Get the Solar Facts before getting on the
"Humans Cause Global Warming" (AGW) band wagon.
Planetary
warming has also been observed on Mars, Jupiter, Pluto, and on
Neptune's largest moon Triton during the decades following the peak of
the "Solar Grand Maximum" - wonder why - there are no humans there! And
Pluto is moving further from the sun in its orbit, thus it should be
cooling, but instead it is warming. This is but one blatant indicator
that suggests that the climate change on Earth is due to solar changes
rather than mere human antics. More importantly, the Sun is now
changing from its Solar Grand Maximum to its Solar Grand Minimum. The
Earth heats up after a Solar Grand Maximum, lagging a bit after the
peak. With a Solar Grand Minimum now on its way, a "global cooling" is
on the horizon--a natural oscillation occurring in much longer solar
cycles.
Latest science reveals that sharp increases in
global warming "precede" sharp increases in CO2--not the other way
around. Global warming causes more CO2 to be released form the oceans. Current
research also shows that Earth's oceans are now beginning to cool. It
is also now clear that temperatures over the last century correlate far
better with cycles in oceans than they do with carbon dioxide; and, the
temperature cycles in oceans are caused by cycles of the sun. Yet the
AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming) advocates, as well as the media,
continue to ignore all of this, perpetuating fear and advocating
spending billions of dollars on non-solutions. Although humans
contribute to greenhouse gases, the overall effect is a tiny fraction
compared to natural causes. To say humans are the cause of global
warming; and to also make predictions that global warming will continue
to increase is simply inaccurate. This is not to ignore the silver
lining of the global warming scare, as humanity must certainly learn to
participate in harmony with nature, with the breath of the Earth and
with her land and oceans; and with the cycles of the Sun, Moon,
planets, and stars. So let us act and change from knowledge about what
is really going on rather than from misinformation fueled by
mass-hysteria.
The "Solar Grand Maximum" has ended - a
science most often not considered by the advocates who profess that
Global Warming is caused by man-made CO2" -- those who perpetuate the
global warming media scare mass deception.

Global Warming Mistake – the missing science
Quote from Daniel W. Pangburn, Independent Researcher, Phoenix, Arizona
"The
Solar Grand Maximum that has been going on for about 70 years has
ended. The 30 year or so PDO (Pacific Decadal Oscillation) uptrend that
combined with the Solar Grand Maximum to produce the end-of-century
temperature run up has started its 30 year downtrend. The PDO downtrend
combined with the quiet sun is going to result in planet cooling. The
sun has not been this quiet this long since 1913. The Climate Science
Community appears to be unaware of the science which shows, using paleo
temperature data, that added atmospheric carbon dioxide has no
significant influence on average global temperature."
"Since
2000, atmospheric carbon dioxide has increased 18.4% of the increase
from 1800 to 2000. According to the average of the five reporting
agencies, the trend of average global temperatures since 1998 shows no
increase and since 2002 the trend shows a DECREASE of 0.8°C/century.
This separation shows the lack of connection between atmospheric carbon
dioxide increase and average global temperature. As the atmospheric
carbon dioxide level continues to increase and the average global
temperature doesn’t it is becoming more and more apparent that many
climate scientists have made an egregious mistake and a whole lot of
people have been mislead."
Paper Conclusions:
"Clearly the US annual temperatures over the last century have
correlated far better with cycles in the sun and oceans than carbon
dioxide. The correlation with carbon dioxide seems to have vanished or
even reversed in the last decade. Given the recent cooling of the
Pacific and Atlantic and rapid decline in solar activity, we might
anticipate given these correlations, temperatures to accelerate
downwards shortly."

Global Cooling is Here: Evidence for Predicting Global Cooling for the Next Three Decades
by Prof. Don J. Easterbrook Global Research, November 2, 2008
Department of Geology, Western Washington University
http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=10783
Paper Conclusions:
"Global warming (i.e, the warming since 1977) is over. The minute
increase of anthropogenic CO2 in the atmosphere (0.008%) was not the
cause of the warming--it was a continuation of natural cycles that
occurred over the past 500 years.... The PDO cool mode has replaced the
warm mode in the Pacific Ocean, virtually assuring us of about 30 years
of global cooling, perhaps much deeper than the global cooling from
about 1945 to 1977."

02 June Daniel Estulin’s “True Story of the Bilderberg Group” and What They May Be Planning Now
For over 14 years, Daniel Estulin has investigated and researched
the Bilderberg Group’s far-reaching influence on business and finance,
global politics, war and peace, and control of the world’s resources
and its money.
His book, “The True Story of the Bilderberg Group,” was published in
2005 and is now updated in a new 2009 edition. He states that in 1954,
“the most powerful men in the world met for the first time” in
Oosterbeek, Netherlands, “debated the future of the world,” and decided
to meet annually in secret. They called themselves the Bilderberg Group
with a membership representing a who’s who of world power elites,
mostly from America, Canada, and Western Europe with familiar names
like David Rockefeller, Henry Kissinger, Bill Clinton, Gordon Brown,
Angela Merkel, Alan Greenspan, Ben Bernanke, Larry Summers, Tim
Geithner, Lloyd Blankfein, George Soros, Donald Rumsfeld, Rupert
Murdoch, other heads of state, influential senators, congressmen and
parliamentarians, Pentagon and NATO brass, members of European royalty,
selected media figures, and invited others - some quietly by some
accounts like Barack Obama and many of his top officials.
Always well represented are top figures from the Council on Foreign
Relations (CFR), IMF, World Bank, Trilateral Commission, EU, and
powerful central bankers from the Federal Reserve, the ECB’s
Jean-Claude Trichet, and Bank of England’s Mervyn King.
For over half a century, no agenda or discussion topics became
public nor is any press coverage allowed. The few invited fourth estate
attendees and their bosses are sworn to secrecy. Nonetheless, Estulin
undertook “an investigative journey” that became his life’s work. He
states:
“Slowly, one by one, I have penetrated the layers of secrecy
surrounding the Bilderberg Group, but I could not have done this withot
help of ‘conscientious objectors’ from inside, as well as outside, the
Group’s membership.” As a result, he keeps their names confidential.
Whatever its early mission, the Group is now “a shadow world
government….threaten(ing) to take away our right to direct our own
destinies (by creating) a disturbing reality” very much harming the
public’s welfare. In short, Bilderbergers want to supplant individual
nation-state sovereignty with an all-powerful global government,
corporate controlled, and check-mated by militarized enforcement.
“Imagine a private club where presidents, prime ministers,
international bankers and generals rub shoulders, where gracious royal
chaperones ensure everyone gets along, and where the people running the
wars, markets, and Europe (and America) say what they never dare say in
public.”
Early in its history, Bilderbergers decided “to create an
‘Aristocracy of purpose’ between Europe and the United States (to reach
consensus to rule the world on matters of) policy, economics, and
(overall) strategy.” NATO was essential for their plans - to ensure
“perpetual war (and) nuclear blackmail” to be used as necessary. Then
proceed to loot the planet, achieve fabulous wealth and power, and
crush all challengers to keep it.
Along with military dominance, controlling the world’s money is
crucial for with it comes absolute control as the powerful 19th century
Rothschild family understood. As the patriarch Amschel Rothschild once
said: “Give me control of a nation’s money and I care not who makes its
laws.”
Bilderbergers comprise the world’s most exclusive club. No one buys
their way in. Only the Group’s Steering Committee decides whom to
invite, and in all cases participants are adherents to One World Order
governance run by top power elites.
According to Steering Committee rules:
“the invited guests must come alone; no wives, girlfriends, husbands
or boyfriends. Personal assistants (meaning security, bodyguards, CIA
or other secret service protectors) cannot attend the conference and
must eat in a separate hall. (Also) The guests are explicitly forbidden
from giving interviews to journalists” or divulge anything that goes on
in meetings.
Host governments provide overall security to keep away outsiders.
One-third of attendees are political figures. The others are from
industry, finance, academia, labor and communications.
Meeting procedure is by Chatham House Rules letting attendees freely
express their views in a relaxed atmosphere knowing nothing said will
be quoted or revealed to the public. Meetings “are always frank, but do
not always conclude with consensus.”
Membership consists of annual attendees (around 80 of the world’s
most powerful) and others only invited occasionally because of their
knowledge or involvement in relevant topics. Those most valued are
asked back, and some first-timers are chosen for their possible later
usefulness.
Arkansas governor Bill Clinton, for example, who attended in 1991.
“There, David Rockefeller told (him) why the North American Free Trade
Agreement….was a Bilderberg priority and that the group needed him to
support it. The next year, Clinton was elected president,” and on
January 1, 1994 NAFTA took effect. Numerous other examples are similar,
including who gets chosen for powerful government, military and other
key positions.
Bilderberg Objectives
The Group’s grand design is for “a One World Government (World
Company) with a single, global marketplace, policed by one world army,
and financially regulated by one ‘World (Central) Bank’ using one
global currency.” Their “wish list” includes:
– “one international identify (observing) one set of universal values;”
– centralized control of world populations by “mind control;” in other words, controlling world public opinion;
– a New World Order with no middle class, only “rulers and servants (serfs),” and, of course, no democracy;
– “a zero-growth society” without prosperity or progress, only greater wealth and power for the rulers;
– manufactured crises and perpetual wars;
– absolute control of education to program the public mind and train those chosen for various roles;
– “centralized control of all foreign and domestic policies;” one size fits all globally;
– using the UN as a de facto world government imposing a UN tax on “world citizens;”
– expanding NAFTA and WTO globally;
– making NATO a world military;
– imposing a universal legal system; and
– a global “welfare state where obedient slaves will be rewarded and non-conformists targeted for extermination.”
Secret Bilderberg Partners
In the US, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is dominant. One
of its 1921 founders, Edward Mandell House, was Woodrow Wilson’s chief
advisor and rumored at the time to be the nation’s real power from 1913
- 1921. On his watch, the Federal Reserve Act passed in December 1913
giving money creation power to bankers, and the 16th Amendment was
ratified in February creating the federal income tax to provide a
revenue stream to pay for government debt service.
From its beginnings, CFR was committed to “a one-world government
based on a centralized global financing system….” Today, CFR has
thousands of influential members (including important ones in the
corporate media) but keeps a low public profile, especially regarding
its real agenda.
Historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. called it a “front organization
(for) the heart of the American Establishment.” It meets privately and
only publishes what it wishes the public to know. Its members are only
Americans.
The Trilateral Commission (discussed below) is a similar group that
“brings together global power brokers.” Founded by David Rockefeller,
he’s also a leading Bilderberger and CFR Chairman Emeritus,
organizations he continues to finance and support.
Their past and current members reflect their power:
– nearly all presidential candidates of both parties;
– leading senators and congressmen;
– key members of the fourth estate and their bosses; and
– top officials of the FBI, CIA, NSA, defense establishment, and other
leading government agencies, including state, commerce, the judiciary
and treasury.
For its part, “CFR has served as a virtual employment agency for the
federal government under both Democrats and Republicans.” Whoever
occupies the White House, “CFR’s power and agenda” have been unchanged
since its 1921 founding.
It advocates a global superstate with America and other nations
sacrificing their sovereignty to a central power. CFR founder Paul
Warburg was a member of Roosevelt’s “brain trust.” In 1950, his son,
James, told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee: “We shall have
world government whether or not you like it - by conquest or consent.”
Later at the 1992 Bilderberg Group meeting, Henry Kissinger said:
“Today, Americans would be outraged if UN troops entered Los Angeles
to restore order; tomorrow, they will be grateful. This is especially
true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond, whether
real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then
that all people of the world will plead with world leaders to deliver
them from this evil….individual rights will be willingly relinquished
for the guarantee of their well-being granted to them by their world
government.”
CFR planned a New World Order before 1942, and the “UN began with a
group of CFR members called the Informal Agenda Group.” They drafted
the original UN proposal, presented it to Franklin Roosevelt who
announced it publicly the next day. At its 1945 founding, CFR members
comprised over 40 of the US delegates.
According to Professor G. William Domhoff, author of Who Rules
America, the CFR operates in “small groups of about twenty-five, who
bring together leaders from the six conspirator categories
(industrialists, financiers, ideologues, military, professional
specialists - lawyers, medical doctors, etc. - and organized labor) for
detailed discussions of specific topics in the area of foreign
affairs.” Domhoff added:
“The Council on Foreign Relations, while not financed by government,
works so closely with it that it is difficult to distinguish Council
action stimulated by government from autonomous actions. (Its) most
important sources of income are leading corporations and major
foundations.” The Rockefeller, Carnegie, and Ford Foundations to name
three, and they’re directed by key corporate officials.
Dominant Media Partners
Former CBS News president Richard Salant (1961 - 64 and 1966 - 79)
explained the major media’s role: “Our job is to give people not what
they want, but what we decide they ought to have.”
CBS and other media giants control everything we see, hear and read
- through television, radio, newspapers, magazines, books, films, and
large portions of the Internet. Their top officials and some
journalists attend Bilderberg meetings - on condition they report
nothing.
The Rockefeller family wields enormous power, even though its
reigning patriarch, David, will be 94 on June 12 and surely near the
end of his dominance. However, for years “the Rockefellers (led by
David) gained great influence over the media. (With it) the family
gained sway over public opinion. With the pulse of public opinion, they
gained deep influence in politics. And with this politics of subtle
corruption, they are taking control of the nation” and now aim for
total world domination.
The Bilderberger-Rockefeller scheme is to make their views “so
appealing (by camouflaging them) that they become public policy (and
can) pressure world leaders into submitting to the ‘needs of the
Masters of the Universe.’ ” The “free world press” is their instrument
to disseminate “agreed-upon propaganda.”
CFR Cabinet Control
“The National Security Act of 1947 established the office of
Secretary of Defense.” Since then, 14 DOD secretaries have been CFR
members.
Since 1940, every Secretary of State, except James Byrnes, has been a CFR member and/or Trilateral Commission (TC) one.
For the past 80 years, “Virtually every key US National Security and Foreign Policy Advisor has been a CFR member.
Nearly all top generals and admirals have been CFR members.
Many presidential candidates were/are CFR members, including Herbert
Hoover, Adlai Stevenson, Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, Richard
Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter (also a charter TC member), George HW
Bush, Bill Clinton, John Kerry, and John McCain.
Numerous CIA directors were/are CFR members, including Richard
Helmes, James Schlesinger, William Casey, William Webster, Robert
Gates, James Woolsey, John Deutsch, George Tenet, Porter Goss, Michael
Hayden, and Leon Panetta.
Many Treasury Secretaries were/are CFR members, including Douglas
Dillon, George Schultz, William Simon, James Baker, Nicholas Brady,
Lloyd Bentsen, Robert Rubin, Henry Paulson, and Tim Geithner.
When presidents nominate Supreme Court candidates, the CFR’s
“Special Group, Secret Team” or advisors vet them for acceptability.
Presidents, in fact, are told who to appoint, including designees to
the High Court and most lower ones.
Programming the Public Mind
According to sociologist Hadley Cantril in his 1967 book, The Human Dimension - Experiences in Policy Research:
Government “Psycho-political operations are propaganda campaigns
designed to create perpetual tension and to manipulate different groups
of people to accept the particular climate of opinion the CFR seeks to
achieve in the world.”
Canadian writer Ken Adachi (1929 - 1989) added:
“What most Americans believe to be ‘Public Opinion’ is in reality
carefully crafted and scripted propaganda designed to elicit a desired
behavioral response from the public.”
And noted Australian academic and activist Alex Carey (1922 - 1988)
explained the three most important 20th century developments - “The
growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of
corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against
democracy.”
Web of Control
Numerous think tanks, foundations, the major media, and other key
organizations are staffed with CFR members. Most of its life-members
also belong to the TC and Bilderberg Group, operate secretly, and wield
enormous power over US and world affairs.
The Rockefeller-Founded Trilateral Commission (TC)
On page 405 of his Memoirs, David Rockfeller wrote:
“Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the
best interests of the United States characterizing my family and me as
‘internationalists’ and conspiring with others around the world to
build a more integrated global political and economic structure - one
world, if you will. If that’s the charge, I stand guilty, and I am
proud of it.”
In alliance with Bilderbergers, the TC also “plays a vital role in
the New World Order’s scheme to use wealth, concentrated in the hands
of the few, to exert world control.” TC members share common views and
all relate to total unchallengeable global dominance.
- A d v e r t i s e m e n t
Founded
in 1973 and headquartered in Washington, its powerful US, EU and East
Asian members seek its operative founding goal - a “New International
Economic Order,” now simply a “New World Order” run by global elites
from these three parts of the world with lesser members admitted from
other countries.
According to TC’s web site, “each regional group has a chairman and
deputy chairman, who all together constitute the leadership of the
Committee. The Executive Committee draws together a further 36
individuals from the wider membership,” proportionately representing
the US, EU, and East Asia in its early years, now enlarged to be
broadly global.
Committee members meet several times annually to discuss and
coordinate their work. The Executive Committee chooses members, and at
any time around 350 belong for a three-year renewable period. Everyone
is a consummate insider with expertise in business, finance, politics,
the military, or the media, including past presidents, secretaries of
state, international bankers, think tank and foundation executives,
university presidents and selected academics, and former senators and
congressmen, among others.
Although its annual reports are available for purchase, its inner
workings, current goals, and operations are secret - with good reason.
Its objectives harm the public so mustn’t be revealed. Trilaterals over
Washington author Antony Sutton wrote:
“this group of private citizens is precisely organized in a manner
that ensures its collective views have significant impact on public
policy.”
In her book, Trilateralism: The Trilateral Commission and Elite Planning for World Management, Holly Sklar wrote:
Powerful figures in America, Europe, and East Asia let “the
rich….safeguard the interests of Western capitalism in an explosive
world - probably by discouraging protectionism, nationalism, or any
response that would pit the elites of one against the elites of
another,” in their common quest for global dominance.
Trilateralist Zbigniew Brzezinski (TC’s co-founder) wrote in his Between Two Ages - America’s Role in the Technotronic Era:
“people, governments and economies of all nations must serve the
needs of multinational banks and corporations. (The Constitution is)
inadequate….the old framework of international politics, with their
sphere of influence….the fiction of sovereignty….is clearly no longer
compatible with reality….”
TC today is now global with members from countries as diverse as
Argentina, Ukraine, Israel, Jordan, Brazil, Turkey, China and Russia.
In his Trilaterals Over America, Antony Sutton believes that TC’s aim
is to collaborate with Bilderbergers and CFR in “establishing public
policy objectives to be implemented by governments worldwide.” He added
that “Trilateralists have rejected the US Constitution and the
democratic political process.” In fact, TC was established to counter a
“crisis in democracy” - too much of it that had to be contained.
An official TC report was fearful about “the increased popular
participation in and control over established social, political, and
economic institutions and especially a reaction against the
concentration of power of Congress and of state and local government.”
To address this, media control was essential to exert “restraint on
what newspapers may publish (and TV and radio broadcast).” Then
according to Richard Gardner in the July 1974 issue of Foreign Affairs
(a CFR publication):
CFR’s leadership must make “an end run around national sovereignty,
eroding it piece by piece,” until the very notion disappears from
public discourse.
Bilderberg/CFR/Trilateralist success depends on finding “a way to
get us to surrender our liberties in the name of some common threat or
crisis. The foundations, educational institutions, and research think
tanks supported by (these organizations) oblige by financing so-called
’studies’ which are then used to justify their every excess. The
excuses vary, but the target is always individual liberty. Our liberty”
and much more.
Bilderbergers, Trilateralists and CFR members want “an
all-encompassing monopoly” - over government, money, industry, and
property that’s “self-perpetuating and eternal.” In Confessions of a
Monopolist (1906), Frederick C. Howe explained its workings in practice:
“The rules of big business: Get a monopoly; let Society work for
you. So long as we see all international revolutionaries and all
international capitalists as implacable enemies of one another, then we
miss a crucial point….a partnership between international monopoly
capitalism and international revolutionary socialism is for their
mutual benefit.”
In the Rockefeller File, Gary Allen wrote:
“By the late nineteenth century, the inner sanctums of Wall Street
understood that the most efficient way to gain a monopoly was to say it
was for the ‘public good’ and ‘public interest.’ “
David Rockefeller learned the same thing from his father, John D.,
Jr. who learned it from his father, John D. Sr. They hated competition
and relentlessly strove to eliminate it - for David on a global scale
through a New World Order.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Trilateralists and CFR members collaborated
on the latter’s “1980 Project,” the largest ever CFR initiative to
steer world events “toward a particular desirable future outcome
(involving) the utter disintegration of the economy.” Why so is the
question?
Because by the 1950s and 1960s, worldwide industrial growth meant
more competition. It was also a model to be followed, and “had to be
strangled in the cradle” or at least greatly contained. In America as
well beginning in the 1980s. The result has been a transfer of wealth
from the poor to the rich, shrinkage of the middle class, and plan for
its eventual demise.
The North American Union (NAU)
The idea emerged during the Reagan administration in the early
1980s. David Rockefeller, George Schultz and Paul Volker told the
president that Canada and America could be politically and economically
merged over the next 15 years except for one problem - French-speaking
Quebec. Their solution - elect a Bilderberg-friendly prime minister,
separate Quebec from the other provinces, then make Canada America’s
51st state. It almost worked, but not quite when a 1995 secession
referendum was defeated - 50.56% to 49.44%, but not the idea of merger.
At a March 23, 2005 Waco, Texas meeting, attended by George Bush,
Mexico’s Vincente Fox, and Canada’s Paul Martin, the Security and and
Prosperity Partnership (SPP) was launched, also known as the North
American Union (NAU). It was a secretive Independent Task Force of
North America agreement - a group organized by the Canadian Council of
Chief Executives (CCCE), the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations, and
CFR with the following aims:
– circumventing the legislatures of three countries and their constitutions;
– suppressing public knowledge or consideration; and
– proposing greater US, Canadian and Mexican economic, political,
social, and security integration with secretive working groups formed
to devise non-debatable, not voted on agreements to be binding and
unchangeable.
In short - a corporate coup d’etat against the sovereignty of three
nations enforced by hard line militarization to suppress opposition.
If enacted, it will create a borderless North America, corporate
controlled, without barriers to trade or capital flows for business
giants, mainly US ones and much more - America’s access to vital
resources, especially oil and Canada’s fresh water.
Secretly, over 300 SPP initiatives were crafted to harmonize the
continent’s policies on energy, food, drugs, security, immigration,
manufacturing, the environment, and public health along with
militarizing three nations for enforcement.
SPP represents another step toward the Bilderberg/Trilateralist/CFR
goal for World Government, taking it one step at a time. A “United
Europe” was another, the result of various treaties and economic
agreements:
– the December 1951 six-nation European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC);
– the March 1957 six-nation Treaty of Rome establishing the European Economic Community (EEC);
also the European Atomic Energy Commission (EAEC) by a second Treaty of Rome;
– the October 1957 European Court of Justice to settle regional trade disputes;
– the May 1960 seven-nation European Free Trade Association (EFTA);
– the July 1967 European Economic Community (EEC) merging the ECSC, EAEC and EEC together in one organization;
– the 1968 European Customs Union to abolish duties and establish uniform imports taxing among EEC nations;
– the 1978 European Currency Unit (ECU);
– the February 1986 Single European Act revision of the 1957 Treaty
of Rome; it established the objective of forming a Common Market by
December 31, 1992;
– the February 1992 Maastricht Treaty creating the EU on November 1, 1993; and
– the name euro was adopted in December 1995; it was introduced in
January 1999 replacing the European Currency Unit (ECU); euros began
circulating on January 2002; they’re now the official currency of 16 of
the 27 EU states.
Over half a century, the above steps cost EU members their
sovereignty “as some 70 to 80 per cent of the laws passed in Europe
involve just rubber stamping of regulations already written by nameless
bureaucrats in ‘working groups’ in Brussels or Luxembourg.”
The EU and NAU share common features:
– advocacy from a influential spokesperson;
– an economic and later political union;
– hard line security, and for Europe, ending wars on the continent between EU member states;
– establishment of a collective consciousness in place of nationalism;
– the blurring of borders and creation of a “supra-government,” a superstate;
– secretive arrangements to mask real objectives; and
– the creation of a common currency and eventual global one.
Steps Toward a North American Union
– the October 4, 1988 Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the US and Canada, finalized the previous year;
– at the 1991 Bilderberg meeting, David Rockefeller got governor Bill Clinton’s support for NAFTA if he became president;
– on January 1, 1994, with no debate under “fast-track” rules, Congress approved WTO legislation;
– in December 1994 at the first Summit of the Americas, 34
Hemispheric leaders committed their nations to a Free Trade of the
Americas agreement (FTAA) by 2005 - so far unachieved;
– on July 4, 2000, Mexican president Vincente Fox called for a North American common market in 20 years;
– on February 2001, the White House published a joint statement from
George Bush and Vincente Fox called the “Guanajuato Proposal;” it was
for a US-Canada-Mexico prosperity partnership (aka North American
Union);
– in September 2001, Bush and Fox agreed to a “Partnership for Prosperity Initiative;”
– the September 11, 2001 attack gave cover to including “security” as part of a future partnership;
– on October 7, 2001, a CFA meeting highlighted “The Future of North
American Integration in the Wake of Terrorist Attacks; for the first
time, “security” became part of a future “partnership for prosperity;”
also, Canada was to be included in a “North American” agreement;
– in 2002, the North American Forum on Integration (NAFI) was
established in Montreal “to address the issues raised by North American
integration as well as identify new ideas and strategies to reinforce
the North American region;”
– in January 2003, the Canadian Council of Chief Executives (CCCE -
composed of 150 top CEOs) launched the “North American Security and
Prosperity Initiative” calling for continental integration;
– in April 2004, Canadian prime minister Paul Martin announced the
nation’s first ever national security policy called Securing an Open
Society;
– on October 15, 2004, CFR established an Independent Task Force on
the Future of North America - for a future continental union;
– in March 2005, a CFR report titled Creating a North American
Community called for continental integration by 2010 “to enhance,
prosperity, and opportunity for all North Americans;” and
– on March 23, 2005 in Waco, Texas, America, Canada and Mexico
leaders launched the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) - aka
North American Union (NAU).
Secretive negotiations continue. Legislative debate is excluded, and
public inclusion and debate are off the table. In May 2005, the CFR
Independent Task Force on the Future of North America published a
follow-up report titled Building a North American Community - proposing
a borderless three-nation union by 2010.
In June and July 2005, the Dominican Republic - Central America Free
Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA) passed the Senate and House establishing
corporate-approved trade rules to further impoverish the region and
move a step closer to continental integration.
In March 2006, the North American Competitiveness Council (NACC) was
created at the second SPP summit in Cancun, Mexico. Composed of 30 top
North American CEOs, it serves as an official trilateral SPP working
group.
Secret business and government meetings continue so there’s no way
to confirm SPP’s current status or if Barack Obama is seamlessly
continuing George Bush’s agenda. In an earlier article, this writer
said:
SPP efforts paused during the Bush to Obama transition, but “deep
integration” plans remain. Canada’s Fraser Institute proposed renaming
the initiative the North American Standards and Regulatory Area (NASRA)
to disguise its real purpose. It said the “SPP brand” is tarnished so
re-branding is essential - to fool the public until it’s too late to
matter.
Bilderbergers, Trilaterists, and CFR leaders back it as another step
toward global integration and won’t “stop until the entire world is
unified under the auspices and the political umbrella of a One World
Company, a nightmarish borderless world run by the world’s most
powerful clique” - comprised of key elitist members of these dominant
organizations.
In April 2007, the Transatlantic Economic Council was established between America and the EU to:
– create an “official international governmental body - by executive fiat;
– harmonize economic and regulatory objectives;
– move toward a Transatlantic Common Market; and
– a step closer to One World Government run by the world’s most powerful corporate interests.
Insights into the 2009 Bilderberg Group Meeting
From May 14 - 17, Bilderbergers held their annual meeting in
Vouliagmeni, Greece, and according to Daniel Estulin have dire plans
for global economies.
According to his pre-meeting sources, they’re divided on two alternatives:
“Either a prolonged, agonizing depression that dooms the world to
decades of stagnation, decline and poverty (or) an intense but shorter
depression that paves the way for a new sustainable world order, with
less sovereignty but more efficiency.”
Other agenda items included:
– “the future of the US dollar and US economy;”
– continued deception about green shoots signaling an end to recession and improving economy later in the year;
– suppressing the fact that bank stress tests were a sham and were
designed for deception, not an accurate assessment of major banks’
health;
– projecting headlined US unemployment to hit 14% by year end - way
above current forecasts and meaning the true number will be double, at
minimum, with all uncounted categories included; and
– a final push to get the Lisbon Treaty passed for pan-European (EU)
adoption of neoliberal rules, including greater privatizations, fewer
worker rights and social benefits, open border trade favoring developed
over emerging states, and greater militarization to suppress civil
liberties and human rights.
After the meeting, Estulin got a 73-page report on what was
discussed. He noted that “One of Bilderberg’s primary concerns….is the
danger that their zeal to reshape the world by engineering chaos
(toward) their long term agenda could cause the situation to spiral out
of control and eventually lead to a scenario where Bilderberg and the
global elite in general are overwhelmed by events and end up losing
their control over the planet.”
Estulin also noted some considerable disagreement between
“hardliners” wanting a “dramatic decline and a severe, short-term
depression (versus others) who think that things have gone too far” so
that “the fallout from the global economic cataclysm” can’t be known,
may be greater than anticipated, and may harm Bilderberger interests.
Also, “some European bankers (expressed great alarm over their own fate
and called the current) high wire act ‘unsustainable.’ “
There was a combination of agreement and fear that the situation
remains dire and the worst of the crisis lies ahead, mainly because of
America’s extreme debt level that must be resolved to produce a
healthy, sustainable recovery.
Topics also included:
– establishing a Global Treasury Department and Global Central Bank, possibly partnered with or as part of the IMF;
– a global currency;
– destruction of the dollar through what longtime market analyst Bob
Chapman calls “a stealth default on (US) debt by continuing to issue
massive amounts of money and credit and in the process devaluing the
dollar,” a process he calls “fraud;”
– a global legal system;
– exploiting the Swine Flu scare to create a WHO global department of health; and
– the overall goal of a global government and the end of national sovereignty.
In the past, Estulin’s sources proved accurate. Earlier, he
predicted the housing crash and 2007 - 2008 financial market decline,
preceded by the kind of financial crisis triggered by the Lehman
Brothers collapse. Watch for further updates from him as new
information leaks out on what the world’s power elites have planned
going forward.

Democrats chose a presidential nominee strictly on the basis of his
race. They were focused solely on “making history,” remember? That
president has now chosen a Supreme Court nominee strictly on the basis
of her race, once again, to “make history.” So why would you be shocked
that the Obamanation press, are once again calling Republicans
“racists..?”

While meaningless United Nations
hand-wringing over the North Korean nuclear weapons program garners the
headlines, the world body is moving ahead with a global conference to
lay the groundwork for world government financed by global taxes. The
communist head of the U.N. General Assembly is leading the effort, but
he is getting crucial support from “progressive” economists who advise
the Obama Administration and the Democratic Party.
The United Nations Conference on the World Financial and Economic
Crisis and Its Impact on Development, previously scheduled for June
1-3, will now take place on June 24-26.
U.N. General Assembly President Miguel D’Escoto is the U.N. point man on these “global governance” issues. We noted his role at the United Nations in a column last October. Now, even the New York Times is paying attention to what this crackpot has been up to.
D’Escoto, the Times said, believes the way out of the global
financial crisis “should be lined with all manner of new global
institutions, authorities and advisory boards,” including the Global
Stimulus Fund, the Global Public Goods Authority, the Global Tax
Authority, the Global Financial Products Safety Commission, the Global
Financial Regulatory Authority, the Global Competition Authority, the
Global Council of Financial and Economic Advisers, the Global Economic
Coordination Council, and the World Monetary Board.
D’Escoto is the former foreign minister of Communist Sandinista
Nicaragua and Catholic Priest of the Maryknoll Order who advocates
Marxist-oriented liberation theology and won the Lenin Peace Prize from
the old Soviet Union. D’Escoto also claims a Master’s of Science from
Columbia University’s School of Journalism.
The Times interviewed Paul Oquist, D’Escoto’s senior adviser for the
conference, who sat beneath portraits of Fidel Castro of Cuba, Hugo
Chavez of Venezuela and Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua, among others.
The problem is that the Times, in its story, “At U.N., a Sandinista’s Plan for Recovery,” didn’t mention until the 13th paragraph that the official U.N. list of “experts”
behind the plan include an American economist, Joseph E. Stiglitz, a
Nobel Prize-winning professor from Columbia University who supported
and contributed to Obama’s presidential campaign and advises
Congressional Democrats on economic policy.
Stiglitz, an advocate of nationalizing U.S. banks, is also a member of the Socialist International Commission on Global Financial Issues and his name appears on a separate list of 15 “special advisers” to D’Escoto obtained from the U.N. by Inner City Press. Another name on the list-Noam Chomsky-is on the board of the Communist Party spin-off, the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism.
Working With A Castroite
Aides to D’Escoto “point out repeatedly that the president got many
of his ideas from a distinguished panel of experts led by an American
economist and Nobel laureate, Joseph E. Stiglitz,” the Times noted.
Stiglitz, a former Clinton official and financial contributor to the Democratic Party and its candidates, wrote the book, Making Globalization Work,
in which he argues for a variety of global tax schemes that would cost
American taxpayers billions of dollars. Last October he met behind closed doors
with congressional Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, to
devise the economic “stimulus” plan of more federal spending and debt.
Incredibly, Stiglitz was quoted in a U.N. press release
last October as saying that the United Nations, which is notorious for
corruption, had to intervene in the financial crisis because it was
“the one institution that was inclusive and had political
legitimacy...”
Another one of the “experts” the Times neglected to mention was Robert Johnson, former managing director
at Soros Fund Management and board member of the Institute for
America’s Future, a sponsor of next week’s June 1-3 “progressive”
conference in Washington, D.C. that will honor pro-Castro Rep. Barbara
Lee and socialist labor leader John Sweeney of the AFL-CIO.
The Hand of Soros
The Soros-funded Open Society Institute gave the Institute for
America’s Future $500,000 in 2008 in the area of “Idea Generation and
Policy Change.”
Johnson also serves on the board of the Democracy Alliance,
a wealthy liberal group that includes Soros and is committed to
“fostering collaboration among progressive leaders and
institutions..."
Johnson’s involvement in the United Nations Conference on the World
Financial and Economic Crisis demonstrates how this “collaboration” is
occurring at the global level and involves representatives of socialist
and communist governments at the U.N.
Other “experts” on the D’Escoto panel come from Russia and China,
with one of his “special representatives,” Oswaldo Martinez, identified
as only being from Communist Cuba with no biography attached. Another
D’Escoto “special representative,” socialist and Jesuit Priest Francois
Houtart, is the author of “Socialism for the 21st Century.”
Toward this end, the “Report
of the Commission of Experts of the President of the UN General
Assembly on Reforms of the International Monetary and Financial System”
raises the possibility of global taxes to finance one of President
Obama’s legislative goals when he was a senator-committing 0.7 percent
of Gross National Income as “official development assistance” or
foreign aid. This was the essence of Obama’s Global Poverty Act,
which never came up for a full Senate vote because of increasing public
awareness that it would commit the U.S. to spending $845 billion in
additional foreign aid.
Global Tax Agenda
Under the heading of “Innovative Sources of Financing” (page 109),
the U.N. document declares that “For some time, the difficulty in
meeting the UN official assistance target of 0.7 per cent of GNI of
industrial countries as official development assistance, as well as the
need for adequate funding for the provision of global and regional
public goods (peace building, fighting global health pandemics,
combating climate change and sustaining the global environment more
generally) has generated proposals on how to guarantee stable sources
of financing for these objectives.”
These proposals, the document says, include initiatives involving
“taxation for global objectives.” It adds, “Two suggestions deserve
special attention: a carbon tax and a levy on financial transactions.”
The global carbon tax, the document says, could generate $130 billion a
year, while estimates of the revenues from a currency transaction tax
range from $15 to $35 billion. Other global taxation options are also
examined.
However, as D’Escoto and his “experts” move ahead with the U.N.’s
global economic conference, some of Obama’s representatives at the U.S.
Mission to the U.N. seem to have grown sensitive to the communist’s
frequent outbursts of loony leftism and anti-American rhetoric. Such
remarks could bring unwarranted attention to what D’Escoto and the
“progressive” American economists are trying to implement in the
international economic realm.
For example, The Washington Post recently reported
on American criticism of D’Escoto’s statements about Iran having no
nuclear weapons program, exaggerating civilian deaths in Iraq, and
calling for the release of Cuban Communist agents imprisoned in the
U.S. D’Escoto “has repeatedly abused his position to pursue his
personal agenda, and in doing so he diminishes the office and harms the
General Assembly,” one U.S. official was quoted as saying.
The Times story
about the upcoming global economic conference said that D’Escoto’s
critics, who are “legion,” say that some of his proposals-"like levying
an international tax on all financial transactions or replacing the
dollar as the international reserve currency"-"are well beyond the role
of the United Nations.” But none of these critics was identified as
being in the Obama Administration or at the U.S. Mission to the U.N.
Some of the critics seemed to be ambassadors from foreign countries who
were peeved that they didn’t get more direct input into formulating the
conference document.
However, other than being too outspoken about the elaborate plans
for new global institutions and world government that are being drawn
up, it would appear that D’Escoto’s goals and those of the Obama
Administration correspond nicely. Perhaps that is because they share
some of the same economic “experts” and Marxist philosophy.
