My friend, the internationally famed climatologist, Dr. S. Fred
Singer, calls them “the CO2 wars.” It is the last ditch attempt by the
Greens, under the aegis of the Obama administration, to declare carbon
dioxide a pollutant and thus open the door to its regulation.
Singer says such regulation “would be the equivalent of an atomic
bomb directed at the U.S. economy—all without any scientific
justification.”
I am increasingly of the opinion that the main goal of the Obama
administration through CO2 regulation, exploding deficits, punishing
taxation, and any other means at their disposal is the destruction of
the economy and the complete control of impoverished Americans.
Governmental gangsterism
This is an administration that exists to impose an Orwellian socialist utopia after the smokescreen clears.
When it comes to CO2, Obama, his so-called science advisors, and
the Environmental Protection Agency are all lying. It is governmental
gangsterism.
As reported in The Wall Street Journal, “The Environmental
Protection Agency has sent the White House a proposed finding that
carbon dioxide is a danger to public health, a step that could trigger
a clampdown on emissions of so-called greenhouse gases across a wide
swath of the economy.”
Here are a few things you need to keep in mind about carbon dioxide:
- CO2 is not a “pollutant.” It is a trace gas necessary for
all life of Earth because it is essential to the growth of all
vegetation.
- Without CO2 all vegetation—grasses, forests, jungles, crops such as
wheat, corn and rice—dies. Then herbivores die. Then you die.
- The CO2 produced by human industry or activity is a miniscule
fraction of a percentage of greenhouse gases. It constitutes a mere
0.038% of the atmosphere.
- The oceans emit 96.5% of all greenhouse gases, holding and
releasing CO2 as it has down through the millennia of Earth’s existence.
- In past millennia, CO2 levels were often much higher than the present.
- CO2 levels rise hundreds of years after temperature rise on planet Earth.
- The Sun is the primary source of warmth on Earth. Rising CO2 is an effect of global warming, not a cause.
- Both global warming and cooling are natural phenomenon over which humans have no control.
- The Earth is not currently warming. It has been cooling for a
decade and likely to continue for at least another twenty years or
longer. If a new Ice Age is triggered, it will last at least 10,000
years.
- Polar ice is now at record levels and still growing.
If you had a choice, would you prefer a warmer or colder Earth?
And consider this, if only the United States was to significantly cut
its CO2 emissions, how much effect, if any, would that have in a world
where most other nations, including China and India, have no intention
of doing so? Both are exempt from the UN Kyoto Protocol. The answer is
zero!
The EPA proposal is not about science. It is about power and it is
about money. As the Wall Street Journal noted, “The administration has
proposed a cap-and-trade system that could raise $646 billion by 2019
through government auctions of emission allowances.”
The federal government, though the aegis of the EPA, would have
control over the destinies of an estimated 13,000 facilities if this
regulatory obscenity were to become law.
“Coal-fired power plants, oil refineries and domestic industries,
such as energy-intensive paper, cement, fertilizer, steel and glass
manufacturers, worry that increased cost burdens imposed by
climate-change laws will put them at a severe competitive disadvantage
to their international peers that aren’t bound by similar environmental
rules.”
Such industries would flee the United States as the most toxic place on Earth in which to do business.
This would be the fulfillment of the Obama administration’s goal
and explains in part why this new assault on science, industry, and
common sense has been put forth by the EPA.

Someone
once said that, for every rookie you have on your starting team in the
National Football League, you will lose a game. Somewhere, at some time
during the season, a rookie will make a mistake that will cost you a
game.
We now have a rookie President of the United States and,
in the dangerous world we live in, with terrorist nations going
nuclear, just one rookie mistake can bring disaster down on this
generation and generations yet to come.
Barack Obama is a
rookie in a sense that few other Presidents in American history have
ever been. It is not just that he has never been President before. He
has never had any position of major executive responsibility in any
kind of organization where he was personally responsible for the
outcome.
Other first-term Presidents have been governors,
generals, cabinet members or others in positions of personal
responsibility. A few have been senators, like Barack Obama, but
usually for longer than Obama, and had not spent half their few years
in the senate running for President.
What is even worse than
making mistakes is having sycophants telling you that you are doing
fine when you are not. In addition to all the usual hangers-on and
supplicants for government favors that every President has, Barack
Obama has a media that will see no evil, hear no evil and certainly
speak no evil.
They will cheer him on, no matter what he does,
short of first-degree murder– and they would make excuses for that.
Even former Reagan speech writer Peggy Noonan has gushed over President
Obama and even crusty Bill O’Reilly has been impressed by Obama’s
demeanor.
There is no sign that President Obama has impressed
the Russians, the Iranians or the North Koreans, except by his rookie
mistakes– and that is a dangerous way to impress dangerous people.
What
did his televised overture to the Iranians accomplish, except to
reassure them that he was not going to do a damn thing to stop them
from getting a nuclear bomb? It is a mistake that can go ringing down
the corridors of history.
Future generations who live in the
shadow of that nuclear threat may wonder what we were thinking about,
putting our lives– and theirs– in the hands of a rookie because we
liked his style and symbolism?
In the name of “change,” Barack
Obama is following policies so old that this generation has never heard
of them– certainly not in most of our educational institutions, where
history has been replaced by “social studies” or other politically
correct courses.
Seeking deals with our adversaries, behind
the backs of our allies? France did that at Munich back in 1938. They
threw Czechoslovakia to the wolves and, less than two years later,
Hitler gobbled up France anyway.
This year, President Obama’s
attempt to make a backdoor deal with the Russians, behind the backs of
the NATO countries, was not only rejected but made public by the
Russians– a sign of contempt and a warning to our allies not to put too
much trust in the United States.
Barack Obama is following a
long practice among those on the left of being hard on our allies and
soft on our enemies. One of our few allies in the Middle East, the Shah
of Iran, was a whipping boy for many in the American media, who vented
their indignation at his regime– which now, in retrospect, seems almost
benign compared to the hate-filled fanatics and international terrorism
sponsors who now rule that country.
However much Barack Obama
has proclaimed his support for Israel, his first phone call as
President of the United States was to Mahmoud Abbas, President of the
Palestinian National Authority.
Our oldest and staunchest
ally, Britain, has been downgraded by President Obama’s visibly less
impressive reception of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, compared
to the way that previous Presidents over the past two generations have
received British Prime Ministers. President Obama’s sending the bust of
Winston Churchill in the White House back to the British embassy at
about the same time was either a rookie mistake or another snub.
We can lose some very big games with this rookie.

It
never ceases to amaze me that when anyone dares disagree with your
basic and average liberal democrat, whether they be and R, a D or some
flavor of an Independent, the ones daring to disagree are classified as
“radicals.”
Nothing could be further from the Truth. As in
Islam, the only “radical” Muslim is the Muslim not practicing Islam.
Those that are practicing Islam are the ones advocating rape, murder,
torture, death to the infidels, etc, etc, etc. The same applies to the
criminal elements in America that have convinced a great many people
that the United States Constitution doesn’t go far enough in granting
absolute power over the serfs.
The United States Constitution
is explicit - the federal government is pretty much toothless with the
internal affairs of the nation, plain and simple. I know that is an
over simplification but that’s how it is. What we have currently, built
upon past usurpations of the constitution by unconstitutional federal
statutes and those that wear their black nightgowns to work (calling
themselves judges), is an unconstitutional federal government. The
United States Government has already been overthrown. That much is
obvious.
Why else would it be that when anyone asks about the
constitutionality of a certain law or policy, the person asking the
question is attacked as being a radical or must be sniffing glue? It
would be ideal if the ones asking the questions were given chapter and
verse of the constitution where the authority of the law or policy is
reconciled with. Seeing that this isn’t going to happen, we must take
our country back from the usurpers of the USG and our beloved
constitution.
All of the Neo Marxists must be rounded up,
placed in prison or deported to the socialist nation of their choice.
If I wanted to live in a socialist nation, I would have moved to France
decades ago. Why do the socialists always come to a thriving nation and
try to rebuild the failed policies of socialism and communism of which,
their ideologies and principles and practices have been dismal failures
everywhere they have been tried?
Death to the ideologies of Neo Marxism and may it rot in hell where it belongs.
No,
the radicals are the Neo Marxists, socialists and communists in our
nation because not one single tenet of either can be reconciled with
our United States Constitution. Not one. Prove us wrong - it isn’t
possible but do try.
3月30日 By: Marion Valentine March 30, 2009 at 5:33 pm Palin: We Won’t ‘Sell Our Birthright’ for Federal $ Monday, March 30, 2009 1:15 PM By: David A. Patten Article Font Size Warning
that anyone accepting federal stimulus funds from Washington should
“read the fine print,” Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is urging her fellow
Alaskans not to “sell our birthright for short-term gain.” Palin’s
comments came in an opinion column defending her decision to reject
close to a third of the $930 million in stimulus funds allocated for
her state in the $787 million bill signed into law by President Obama. Critics
charge she is turning down the money to reinforce her conservative
credentials and bolster a presumed 2012 presidential run – an
accusation Palin’s representatives staunchly deny. In addition to
Palin, GOP governors rejecting at least some federal stimulus funds
include: Texas Gov. Rick Perry, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford,
Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindahl. “Shovel ready or digging a hole?” is the title of the Palin opinion piece published this weekend’s Anchorage Daily News. Palin
acknowledges federal stimulus dollars are “tempting,” but also says she
“must consider whether they create sustainability, help develop our
resources, reduce dependency on Washington, and all without mortgaging
our kids’ futures.” Accepting the federal largesse, Palin says,
would hurt Alaska’s long-term future. She adds that as governor she is
required to certify that the federal dollars would boost the economy. “Unfortunately,”
she writes, “a disproportionate percentage of the federal package
available to Alaska would increase government operations. It’s a
stretch to certify that more spending on more bureaucracy actually
grows an economy.” Palin says accepting temporary federal dollars would just make the state’s finances worse in the long run. “When
stimulus money runs out in two years, who will pay for the expanded
government programs, when Alaska currently has a budget shortfall of
over a billion dollars? My administration will not willingly and
knowingly dig a hole for Alaskans to fill under this enormous,
debt-ridden, Washington spending plan,” she writes. With the national debt already over $11 trillion, Palin says it’s a mistake to view the federal funds as “free money.” Palin also provided several examples of what she called “federal intrusion” associated with the stimulus plan: #
Alaska communities, she says, would have to adopt international energy
codes. “These standards should be locally determined, not federally
mandated,” she writes. # If Alaska were to accept additional
money for unemployment benefits, it would have to extend the
eligibility period. “This federal involvement locks us into government
dependency for longer periods,” she states. # Matching funds
are required for some federal programs, she states. “Alaskans must read
the fine print on these federal mandates, because certain allocations
also require state-matching funds.” Palin concludes, “When
Alaska was granted statehood, it was with the expectation that our
independent, innovative spirit and rich resources would largely sustain
us, rather than depending on federal government. Creating more
dependence on Washington steers us away from Alaska’s magnificent
potential and destiny, and that, to me, is a problem. “My job
is to help Alaskans count the cost for the long term, not sell our
birthright for short-term gain. Alaskans must acknowledge that if we
dig a fiscal hole, it will be filled by our families and businesses.
Reliance on Washington is not our only option. We could exercise fiscal
responsibility and prudent planning, develop our resources, energize
Alaskans, and revitalize our spirit. We are up to the challenge. This
is the best lesson we can teach our children.” Palin added, however, that she won’t block attempts to obtain federal dollars by circumventing her office. “I’m
approaching federal funds and mandates with caution, but won’t stand in
the way of organizations or communities applying to the feds for
funding their own expansions,” she wrote.

Electing a Child to be President
By Alan Caruba Tuesday, March 17, 2009
The last time America elected a young President it was John F. Kennedy, age 44 when he took office.
The
result was the Bay of Pigs fiasco involving an ill-fated invasion of
Cuba to overthrow Fidel Castro and the decision to step in for the
defeated French in Vietnam. Other comparable decisions were cut short
by his assassination. We remember him mostl y for his stirring
inaugural speech, but his choice of Lyndon Johnson as his Vice
President gave us the escalation of the Vietnam War and Great Society
social spending that proved to be a waste of billions.
Now we
have a President who is 47, a very young age to be running the greatest
economic and military power in the world. He had, on taking office,
already written two autobiographical memoirs, but people are slowly
becoming aware of the fact that there is virtually no paper trail by
which to measure him. His birth certificate and legal standing to be
President are in dispute. Records from his college days are hidden from
view.
His record as a one-term Illinois legislator is replete
with “present” votes that revealed little about his political
positions. He did not even wait to complete a full term as a U.S.
Senator before almost immediately beginning to run for the highest
office in the land.
In term s of political leadership, he is a child among grownups and a petulant one at that.
His
first months in office have demonstrated an astonishing lack of
judgment regarding those who he appointed to office, many of whom were
revealed to be tax cheats and others who have since demonstrated a
distinct lack of competence or preparation for positions of critical
importance. Why, for example, would he appoint a longtime political
operative like Leon Panetta to be the Director of the CIA?
His
initial policy decisions and statements panicked Wall Street and were
it not for grownups like Ben Bernacke, Chairman of the Federal Reserve,
and the steps taken by President Bush prior to his taking office, the
economy might have suffered even greater damage. His decisions in
office, however, are widely decried as a repetition of all the errors
made by the FDR administration that prolonged the Great Depression.
While
babbling endlessly about “energy independence” he has again banned any
offshore exploration an d drilling for oil and natural gas. His
preferences for solar and wind energy ignore the fact that, while
heavily subsidized by taxpayer funding, these two “clean” energies
provide barely one percent of the electricity the nation requires and
are the two least efficient and impractical means of generating power.
While deploring “earmarks” he signed an “imperfect” stimulus bill that contained nine thousand of them.
Foreign
policy under President Obama has been characterized by ignoring the
human rights and security needs of nations like Poland, Tibet, and
Israel. Despite more than a half century of resisting the communist
domination of Cuba, he has softened that and is likely to abandon it.
He
has insisted on a swift withdrawal of troops from Iraq despite t he
obvious need to provide vital protection against the forces that would
undermine its newly minted democracy. He insists on transferring troops
to Afghanistan in a war that few regard as anything other than a
prolonged insurgency with little prospect of a successful outcome.
Obama
may be our first President with Attention Deficit Disorder. He went
from declaring we faced an economic “catastrophe” to saying the economy
was still strong in just over a month. Maybe that accounts for his
dependence on the TelePrompter which, we’re told, goes everywhere he
does.
We’re watching an already long list of fatally flawed
decisions and I suggest that we are looking at a combination of his
socialist ideology, his youth and inexperience, and a narcissi sm that
cannot tolerate criticism no matter its source.
His greatest
support comes from a younger generation of Americans with virtually no
knowledge of the nation’s history, no grasp of the economic issues
affecting it, and no more political insight than to rely on “hope and
change” without understanding that these are not, nor ever were
sufficient to the task of being in charge of a great nation with great
challenges.
Politically, emotionally, and intellectually,
Barack Hussein Obama is a child. This has become increasingly evident
with every passing day.
It is not too soon to demand those
hidden documents. It is not too soon for the Democrats in Congress to
realize that supporti ng his policies represents a grave danger to the
nation and their reelection. It is not too soon to begin working to
neutralize him by electing a Republican controlled Congress in 2010.
The
military’s meritocracy is based on experience that comes with age and
proven leadership. We require that our police act in a disciplined and
mature way when dealing with law-breakers. We don’t put children in
charge of our schools.
We don’t believe or support people who
regard carbon dioxide—vital to all life on Earth—to be a “pollutant”
that must be regulated and used to raise billions for a profligate
government while wrecking its economy.
“The secret of eternal
youth is arrested development,” said Alice Roosevelt Longworth, a keen
observer of life and the politics of the nation’s capitol. She passed
away in 1980, but she would reaffirm the truth of that opinion if she
was watching the Obama administration at work.

The
article below outlines the sleazy attempts by Obama’s Puppet Master
George Soros, and the Socialist organizations he sponsors to use
distortions and outright lies to try to strong arm advertisers
into pulling advertising from the Bill O’Reilly show on FOX news. From
my experience with chatting with liberals, and the comments they leave
on my posts, and in e-mails, they think only they should have freedom
of speech.
The
indoctrination of the densely populated areas of northeastern,
northern, and western states into accepting Socialist ideology and that
someone or something else is responsible for their situation. This
demoralization process is complete in the areas mentioned above,
creating a mentally immature “victim” mentality that must have a NANNY
to care for them, because they are no longer able to think or do for
themselves. This type of “group think” has been harder to push in the
rural areas, and in the heartland of the country, because people in
these areas are used to thinking for themselves, looking out for
themselves and their neighbors.
“To educate a man in mind and not in morals, is to educate a menace to society.”
(Theodore Roosevelt)
Hopefully
more of the Silent Majority will speak up and take action to stop this
slide into Global Socialist/Marxist Domination, which is shredding our
Constitution, bankrupting our country, and enslaving our future
generations with debt that can never be repaid.
“That to
secure these rights Governments are Instituted among men. Deriving
their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any
form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right
of the people to alter or abolish it and institute new Government.”
(quote from the Declaration of Independence)
“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the
Courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who
pervert the Constitution.” (Abraham Lincoln)
By Matthew Vadum Sunday, March 29, 2009
An
affiliate of the George Soros-funded think tank and pressure group,
Center for American Progress (CAP), has emulated the sleazy Media
Matters for America by becoming a media critic.
Claiming to be
outraged at the aggressive news-gathering techniques of Bill O’Reilly’s
team, the Center for American Progress Action Fund, a 501(c)(4)
lobbying organization that grew out of CAP, rejoiced Friday after
getting UPS to stop advertising on “The O’Reilly Factor.” The Fund
released this statement on its Think Progress website:
In
response to our Stop Supporting The O’Reilly Harassment Machine
campaign, UPS told us yesterday that it was investigating whether to
continue supporting O’Reilly’s show. “We are sensitive to the type of
television programming where our messages and presence are associated
and continually review choices to affect future decisions,” spokeswoman
Susan Rosenberg told us.
Today UPS announced it will stop advertising on O’Reilly’s show. Here is the statement UPS emailed out just moments ago:
Thank you for sending an e-mail expressing concern about UPS
advertising during the Bill O’Reilly show on FOX News. We do consider
such comments as we review ad placement decisions which involve a
variety of news, entertainment and sports programming. At this time, we
have no plans to continue advertising during this show. [emphasis in
thinkprogress.org post]
I regret I missed this anti-Bill
O’Reilly campaign until it struck gold. The campaign also claims to
have elicited responses from Capital One, AT&T, and Ford.
I’ve
never been a fan of ambush-style interviews but sometimes in the
news-gathering process the approach is justified as a last resort.
Surely nothing the O’Reilly team has done is any worse than anything
done by myriad leftist commentators such as Michael Moore and
journalists such as Geraldo Rivera and the team at “60 Minutes.”
The
whole campaign by the CAP Action Fund seems like a cheap publicity
stunt that has the added benefit of hurting the revenues of a prominent
right-leaning TV commentator perhaps with the ultimate goal of removing
him from the airwaves.
Incidentally, both CAP and Media
Matters are funded by Soros’s Democracy Alliance, a billionaire’s club
that is funding a drive to turn America into a European-style socialist
country.
CAP is a well-funded machine that has aspirations of
becoming a “Heritage Foundation” of the left. It has an approximately
$25 million annual budget and took in $64,681,960 in donations from
2003 through 2006, according to its tax returns.
The CAP
Action Fund, 501(c)(4), may be legally separate from CAP, a 501(c)(3),
but both have roughly the same goals: pushing liberal, Big Government
policies.
CAP
funds the CAP Action Fund directly. It gave $1,796,235 in “grants”
to the CAP Action Fund in 2007 alone, according to the CAP 2007 tax
return.
3月27日 U.N. 'Climate Change' Plan Would Likely Shift Trillions to Form New World Economy
Friday, March 27, 2009
By George Russell
A United Nations document on "climate change" that will be distributed
to a major environmental conclave next week envisions a huge reordering
of the world economy, likely involving trillions of dollars in wealth
transfer, millions of job losses and gains, new taxes, industrial
relocations, new tariffs and subsidies, and complicated payments for
greenhouse gas abatement schemes and carbon taxes — all under the
supervision of the world body.
Those
and other results are blandly discussed in a discretely worded United
Nations "information note" on potential consequences of the measures
that industrialized countries will likely have to take to implement the
Copenhagen Accord, the successor to the Kyoto Treaty, after it is
negotiated and signed by December 2009. The Obama administration has
said it supports the treaty process if, in the words of a U.S. State
Department spokesman, it can come up with an "effective framework" for
dealing with global warming.
The 16-page
note, obtained by FOX News, will be distributed to participants at a
mammoth negotiating session that starts on March 29 in Bonn, Germany,
the first of three sessions intended to hammer out the actual
commitments involved in the new deal.
In
the stultifying language that is normal for important U.N. conclaves,
the negotiators are known as the "Ad Hoc Working Group On Further
Commitments For Annex I Parties Under the Kyoto Protocol." Yet the
consequences of their negotiations, if enacted, would be nothing short
of world-changing.
Getting
that deal done has become the United Nations' highest priority, and the
Bonn meeting is seen as a critical step along the path to what the U.N.
calls an "ambitious and effective international response to climate
change," which is intended to culminate at the later gathering in
Copenhagen.
Just how ambitious the U.N.'s
goals are can be seen, but only dimly, in the note obtained by FOX
News, which offers in sparse detail both positive and negative
consequences of the tools that industrial nations will most likely use
to enforce the greenhouse gas reduction targets.
The
paper makes no effort to calculate the magnitude of the costs and
disruption involved, but despite the discreet presentation, makes clear
that they will reverberate across the entire global economic system.
• Click here for the information note.
Among
the tools that are considered are the cap-and-trade system for
controlling carbon emissions that has been espoused by the Obama
administration; "carbon taxes" on imported fuels and energy-intensive
goods and industries, including airline transportation; and lower
subsidies for those same goods, as well as new or higher subsidies for
goods that are considered "environmentally sound."
Other
tools are referred to only vaguely, including "energy policy reform,"
which the report indicates could affect "large-scale transportation
infrastructure such as roads, rail and airports." When it comes to the
results of such reform, the note says only that it could have "positive
consequences for alternative transportation providers and producers of
alternative fuels."
In the same bland
manner, the note informs negotiators without going into details that
cap-and-trade schemes "may induce some industrial relocation" to "less
regulated host countries." Cap-and-trade functions by creating
decreasing numbers of pollution-emission permits to be traded by
industrial users, and thus pay more for each unit of carbon-based
pollution, a market-driven system that aims to drive manufacturers
toward less polluting technologies.
The
note adds only that industrial relocation "would involve negative
consequences for the implementing country, which loses employment and
investment." But at the same time it "would involve indeterminate
consequences for the countries that would host the relocated
industries."
There are also entirely new
kinds of tariffs and trade protectionist barriers such as those termed
in the note as "border carbon adjustment"— which, the note says, can
impose "a levy on imported goods equal to that which would have been
imposed had they been produced domestically" under more strict
environmental regimes.
Another form of
"adjustment" would require exporters to "buy [carbon] offsets at the
border equal to that which the producer would have been forced to
purchase had the good been produced domestically."
The
impact of both schemes, the note says, "would be functionally
equivalent to an increased tariff: decreased market share for covered
foreign producers." (There is no definition in the report of who,
exactly, is "foreign.") The note adds that "If they were implemented
fairly, such schemes would leave trade and investment patterns
unchanged." Nothing is said about the consequences if such fairness was
not achieved.
Indeed, only rarely does the
"information note" attempt to inform readers in dollar terms of the
impact of "spillover effects" from the potential policy changes it
discusses. In a brief mention of consumer subsidies for fossil fuels,
the note remarks that such subsidies in advanced economies exceed $60
billion a year, while they exceed $90 billion a year in developing
economies."
But calculations of the impact
of tariffs, offsets, or other subsidies is rare. In a reference to the
impact of declining oil exports, the report says that Saudi Arabia has
determined the loss to its economy at between $100 billion and $200
billion by 2030, but said nothing about other oil exporters.
One
reason for the lack of detail, the note indicates, is that impact would
vary widely depending on the nature and scope of the policies adopted
(and, although the note does not mention it, on the severity of the
greenhouse reduction targets).
But even
when it does hazard a guess at specific impacts, the report seems
curiously hazy. A "climate change levy on aviation" for example, is
described as having undetermined "negative impacts on exporters of
goods that rely on air transport, such as cut flowers and premium
perishable produce," as well as "tourism services." But no mention is
made in the note of the impact on the aerospace industry, an industry
that had revenues in 2008 of $208 billion in the U.S. alone, or the
losses the levy would impose on airlines for ordinary passenger
transportation. (Global commercial airline revenues in 2008 were about
$530 billion, and were already forecast to drop to an estimated $467
billion this year.)
In other cases, as
when discussing the "increased costs of traditional exports" under a
new environmental regime, the report confines itself to terse
description. Changes in standards and labeling for exported goods, for
example, "may demand costly changes to the production process." If
subsidies and tariffs affect exports, the note says, the "economic and
social consequences of dampening their viability may, for some
countries and sectors, be significant."
Much
depends, of course, on the extent to which harsher or more lenient
greenhouse gas reduction targets demand more or less drastic policies
for their achievement.
And, precisely
because the Bonn meeting is a stage for negotiating those targets, the
note is silent. Instead it suggests that more bureaucratic work is
needed "to deepen the understanding of the full nature and scale of
such impacts."
But outside the Bonn
process, other experts have been much more blunt about the draconian
nature of the measures they deem necessary to make "effective"
greenhouse gas reductions.
In an
influential but highly controversial paper called "Key Elements of a
Global Deal on Climate Change," British economist Nicholas Lord Stern,
formerly a high British Treasury official, has declared that industrial
economies would need to cut their per capita carbon dioxide emissions
by "at least 80% by 2050," while the biggest economies, like the
U.S.'s, would have to make cuts of 90 percent.
Stern also calls for "immediate and binding" reduction targets for developed nations of 20 percent to 40 percent by 2020.
To
meet Stern's 2050 goals, he says, among other things, "most of the
world's electricity production will need to have been decarbonized."
By
way of comparison, according to the U.S. Department Of Energy, roughly
72 percent of U.S. electrical power generation in 2007 was derived from
burning fossil fuels, with just 6 percent coming from hydro-power and
less than 3 percent from non-nuclear renewable and "other" sources. And
even then, those "other" non-fossil sources included wood and biomass —
which, when burned, are major emitters of carbon.

Barack
Obama was always going to disappoint. When you promise almost
everything to almost everybody—I’ll stop the fighting in Iraq but I’ll
also keep going after al Qaeda there; I’ll make the economy grow more
but I’ll spread the wealth around, and so on—you will inevitably let
many people down. Human beings, even those who read fluently from
teleprompters, simply cannot walk on water.
But few expected
the wheels to come off the new administration so quickly. Just weeks
into its existence, the Obama White House is in trouble. The US stock
market has lost a quarter of its value since Obama’s election. While a
Rasmussen poll in early March had his approval rating at 56 per cent,
his net approval (the number of people who strongly approve of what
he’s doing subtracted from the number who strongly disapprove) had
contracted from 28 per cent the day after his inauguration to around 6
per cent for March—worse than Bush at the same time in his first term.
The administration is in a fully fledged staffing crisis: having lost a
record ten high-profile picks, it has scores of senior executive jobs
unfilled—including every single treasury position below the
department’s top job. The head of Britain’s civil service, Gus
O’Donnell, has complained about the trouble he’s had finding key
administration personnel ahead of the G20 conference in April. “There
is nobody there,” he said. “You cannot believe how difficult it is.”
Treasury secretary Timothy Geithner looks terrified before executives
and television cameras alike. Five months after the election he has yet
to deliver a plan for the banking system, much less restructure a
single financial asset.
Even the sympathetic press is starting
to speak of an “incompetence” crisis. Abroad, North Korea, Russia,
China and Iran have all turned up the heat, as have Hamas and Chavez.
At home, Obama’s Trojan horse agenda—using the economic crisis as an
excuse to advance radical social change in areas unrelated to returning
growth to the economy—threatens to pull his government into ideological
quicksand when all the public really want are jobs. Centrist Democrats
are deeply concerned about what Obama’s poor start means for the
long-term, moderate Democratic majority whose possibility was glimpsed
in the Clinton years.
A president with historic ambitions was
never going to be content with tackling a mere recession. Thus in his
televised address before both houses of congress in February he
delivered a special history lesson: “Our economy did not fall into
decline overnight. Nor did all our problems begin when the housing
market collapsed or the stock market sank.” The current recession and
housing and financial problems have deeper causes, he said. What are
these underlying maladies that so badly need the shaman’s touch? The
president named four: energy, healthcare, education and debt. The “day
of reckoning” for ignoring these issues—and for exacerbating this
failure with excessive borrowing—has arrived, he said.
Americans
who concentrated on the president’s words rather than on their
characteristically sonorous delivery found the diagnosis baffling.
Education, energy and healthcare policy in the US, as almost anywhere,
all need help. But are America’s flaws in these areas really the causes
of the housing bust and the paralysed banking system? What about the
cyclical contractions that follow all economic booms? What about a
decade and more of absurdly cheap money? How about all that Fannie and
Freddie-fuelled lending to inappropriate borrowers? What happened to
lax oversight? What about greed, that comforting straw man? No,
according to Obama, we are losing our jobs and being kicked out of our
excessively mortgaged houses because America lacks universal
healthcare, federally sponsored nursery school, university for all, and
a progressive emissions-oriented energy policy.
Two days after
the congressional speech the president submitted a 150-page outline of
his budget, which at $3.6 trillion already represents the largest and
most ambitious expansion of the US state since Lyndon Johnson’s Great
Society. It is likely to become even bigger as it clears a
spending-crazed congress managed from the left by Nancy Pelosi and
Harry Reid. And despite promises to the contrary, it calls for a
deficit that—at 12.7 per cent of GDP—is four times greater than any of
the huge deficits under George W Bush.
Driven by mammoth
commitments to Obama’s three social priority areas, his budget proposes
to take the federal government’s spending from 21 per cent of the
economy in 2008 to 28 per cent in 2009. Added to spending at state and
local level, this would take the total government share of the US
economy to about 45 per cent, roughly the same level as in Britain.
Obama’s budget outline presents the additional $634bn for healthcare as
a down payment on the full cost of universal healthcare, which he
estimates to be double the sum that he is providing; the rest of the
money, he says, congress must find. Publicly Obama does not want to
admit that state healthcare is his aim, but his system is designed to
price the current private insurance-dominated market out of business.
He would pay much of the extra cost by cutting tax breaks for
charitable giving and mortgage borrowing. (Yes, the same mortgage
borrowing that is at the heart of the housing and banking crises.)
Education
in the US is a matter for the individual states, not the federal
government. The constitution is clear on this, but Washington,
especially under the Bush regime, has inexorably encroached. And now
Obama has made an unprecedented grab on behalf of central government,
calling for universal standards in schools, for Washington-sponsored
higher learning for every single American and for a federal role in
education that starts, in his words, “at birth” and continues “from the
cradle up through a career.” The numbers for this are not yet public,
but they will be huge.
Regarding energy, it is expected that
Obama will raise $600bn by selling tradable rights to emit carbon. This
is in essence a large additional tax on all private sector activity
—$800 per annum in new taxes for every American. The president also
plans to spend $15bn a year picking winners in the alternative energy
field, despite every indication that no advances on any known front can
generate anything like an economically compelling alternative to fossil
fuels. Steven Chu, the new energy secretary, has called energy prices
in America “anomalously low.” The new carbon tax is designed to make
the traditional energy economy so expensive that the alternatives
become viable.
Even if you like Obama’s liberal direction,
this is the exact opposite of a policy designed to deal with the crisis
at hand, which is very simply that Americans need jobs. Overall he
intends to increase the size of the federal government by a third,
financed with an additional trillion dollars of deficit spending. He
wants to increase the role of the state in the US economy to levels not
seen since 1945.
Obama’s call for federal spending to fall to
a still high 22 per cent of GDP by 2011 is illusory. The entitlement
nature of most of the programmes, including $1 trillion on healthcare;
the risibly rosy 4 per cent GDP growth projections for those distant
years; the aggrandising nature of Washington itself; and the statist
inclinations revealed in the current spending plans, render such
projections hopelessly dishonest. Particularly egregious—in size and
disingenuousness—is the $1.6 trillion “saving” until 2019 that Obama
claims for not continuing Bush’s surge in Iraq. 2019? The surge ended
in 2008 and Bush signed an agreement with the Iraqi government calling
for combat troop withdrawal by 2010.
The president’s hasty and
undebated $800bn “stimulus” bill, 1,073 pages long and passed with only
a few hours for review as both parties admitted that not a single
congressman or senator had even tried to read it, was the largest
single spending measure in the history of the US government. At 5.8 per
cent of GDP, it was three times larger than any European package. It
has little to do with fixing today’s economy, and everything to do with
a big state social agenda: 80 per cent of the bill’s spending comes
after this year, by which time even Obama’s office is predicting
healthy 3 per cent GDP growth. Over ten years, the total cost of the
expanded welfare spending will amount to $127,000 for every income
tax-paying household, according to estimates from the Heritage
Foundation. Joe the Plumber is one person Obama did not lie to during
the campaign: this administration is spreading the wealth around. It is
no wonder that, despite two weeks of courting Republican congressmen,
Obama was unable to attract a single one of them to his “stiulus,”
rendering his campaign promises of bipartisanship hollow.
Since
the budget was announced, the annualised rate of economic contraction
for the last quarter of 2008 has been revised from 3.8 per cent to 6.2
per cent: this year’s unprecedented trillion dollar deficit is thus
likely to be closer to two trillion dollars. With two salivating houses
of congress, and the president’s proud personal commitment to
aggressive Keynesian spending, these deficits will stretch deep into
the future until a Gingrich or Reagan swings the pendulum back.
***
President
Obama’s plan, then, represents a radical realignment of America’s
political economy. His challenge today is to sell this big debt, big
government revolution to a public that thought—or rather hoped—that it
was electing a post-partisan centrist. To make his programme acceptable
to what remains a majority centre-right nation, Obama makes aggressive
use of comparisons with the great depression. The comparison is false.
Today’s
recession is in severity and duration (only three or four quarters of
negative growth) a normal economic contraction by historical standards.
With economic growth predicted by all sides to be returning in the
second half of this year, the US economy is doing substantially better
than it did in the 1981-82 recession, when unemployment, currently 8.1
per cent, reached 10.8 per cent. The 1990-91 and 2001 recessions were
unusually brief and mild. The slowdown, 15 months old in March and with
the end visibly in sight, will be slightly longer than the 16-month
downturns of 1975-76 and 1980-81, similar in terms of GDP contraction
(GDP actually rose in 2008, despite the bad final quarter), and
substantially less severe than both where it really matters:
unemployment.
So despite the president’s constant invocations,
today’s situation does not remotely compare to the great depression.
Automobile production fell 90 per cent in 1932 compared to 25 per cent
in 2008 (with no foreign competition in the 1930s), over 10,000 banks
failed in 1931-32 compared to a few score in 2008-09 (and 3,000 in
1987-88), and unemployment exceeded 25 per cent in 1932. The only way
America will find itself anywhere near a great depression today is if
the president’s assault on business and investment and his rush towards
national insolvency continue long enough to make his auguries come true.
The
American economy might not be as bad as Obama says it is, or as bad as
it would have been without his history-making debt binge, but it is
indeed in pain. He certainly should be doing something about it; that
is what he was elected to do. Instead, however, he is using it as an
opportunity to advance what is (by US standards) a massively ambitious
and ideological agenda. From the New York Times on the left to the Wall
Street Journal on the right, Obama’s budget has been called the biggest
change in US politics since the Reagan revolution of the 1980s. Bill
Clinton’s signature piece of economic policy was a contraction of the
welfare state, making him an heir to Reagan much as Blair was to
Thatcher. Obama’s revolution completely overturns the Clinton
settlement, both on the micro level by specifically reversing Clinton’s
epochal welfare reforms, and on the macro level by rejecting outright
the fiscal discipline and growth-oriented private sector philosophy of
the last Democratic White House.
Obama did signal some of
these huge policy initiatives during the 2008 campaign. But he promised
so many contradictory and impossible things—green energy and fiscal
responsibility, for example—that it would be hard to find a position in
mainstream politics that was not covered by his words in one speech or
another. But the greatest moment of candour to emerge from this
administration to date came when chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s
chief handler within the Chicago political machine that groomed this
brilliant political phenomenon, said, “You never want a serious crisis
to go to waste. This crisis provides the opportunity for us to do
things that you could not do before.” Hillary Clinton, the other great
power in the administration, made the same point in Brussels recently:
“Never waste a good crisis… Don’t waste it when it can have a very
positive impact on climate change and energy security.”
This
is breathtaking stuff. Obama’s top people are publicly (if
inadvertently) confessing to precisely the sort of cabalistic secret
agenda that was most loathed about the Bush administration. Imagine the
apoplexy of Obama’s political base if Dick Cheney had called 9/11 a
“good crisis” because it provided cover for a long-intended invasion of
Iraq.
The administration’s Trojan horse agenda—using a standard,
near-finished recession as an excuse for radical social interventions
and a fundamental expansion of the state—hurts the economy and markets
in a crucial area: trust. Combined with the prospect of high inflation
and high taxes, this means that money is put on ice.
Obama’s
alarmist rhetoric is very different from the tone of his economic hero,
Franklin Roosevelt (FDR). Washington’s challenges today are small
compared to those faced by FDR. The nature of the American state has
changed; in 2008, after huge fiscal expansion under Bush, the federal
government accounted for 20 per cent of the economy. In 1930 it was 3
per cent. And unlike Roosevelt, Obama has had the benefit of 80 years
of history, and knows something that FDR could not have known. With the
Keynesian multiplier (the effect on economic growth of $1 of government
spending) proven over time to be well below $1, the spectacular
borrowing required to pay for his spending places a huge burden on our
children, making the debt binge unethical as well as unaffordable.
Obama
has promised to try to tax his way out of the spending hole he is
creating with increased levies on those making more than $250,000 a
year. This cannot work. Quite apart from the damage to investment and
small businesses of such disincentives, Obama-style soak-the-rich taxes
simply don’t raise enough money to pay for Obama-style spending.
According to Brian Riedl at the Heritage Foundation, under the
president’s plans those paying no income tax will reach 50 per cent—the
infamous “tax tipping point” at which democracy becomes a mechanism for
the majority to live off the property and work of various minorities.
Unable to plug the hole with taxes, Uncle Sam will be forced to print
money on a scale not seen since Jimmy Carter.
***
Obama
invokes Reagan almost as often as he invokes FDR, but if we want an
appropriate comparison for the situation America faces to today, it is
not the great depression or the Reagan revolution but rather the Carter
malaise: appalling weakness and gloom both at home and abroad. Obama,
returning to the mindset of the brief (1931-39) New Deal experiment
that was itself an anomaly in the 240 years of the republic, is
reversing the philosophical direction of the American state. This is
the opposite of what moderate Americans thought they were getting when
they voted for him.
A post-partisan centrist: it was the lie
of the century. It did not matter that Obama’s opponent, John McCain,
was one of the most bipartisan national leaders of the last 20 years or
that Obama was the single most partisan Democrat in the US senate. It
did not matter that upon declaring his run for the presidency after
only 142 days in Washington, Obama was only months removed from a
career in the infamously corrupt Chicago Democratic political machine.
Through aspiration or guilt, the backstory of this grandson of a Kenyan
goatherd flattered many Americans, who, presented with a visibly aged
and handicapped alternative in McCain, knew exactly what Joe Biden had
meant when he called Obama “the first mainstream African-American who
is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.” Messianic
scenarios are deeply symbiotic. They are based on a compact with the
believer. Obama’s believer compact went like this: “You wash away my
historic sins and I’ll wash away yours.”
Now the real Obama
has stood up. The moderate and sustainable version of the Democratic
party personified by Presidents Kennedy and Clinton, based on personal
responsibility and low tax, high growth economics, is under the bus
with Reverend Wright, Obama’s 20-year religious mentor. Ideology is
back. Coming from the most radical presidential candidate in the
history of either party, this is no surprise. But to practical
Democrats in a politically moderate country that is still based on a
philosophy of robust individual freedom, this revolutionary expansion
of the federal government is very worrying. Obama’s seizure of so much
money and so much decision making in such basic areas of everyday life
implies too much debt, too much inefficiency and too much control for a
corrupt and distant political class. This is not the change that we
sought.
***
Thus the big question in Democratic
circles today: “What does Hillary do about this?” Her supporters still
feel that the election was stolen from her. With capital on strike,
states rebelling against the president’s dependency agenda, the
treasury secretary probably soon to be replaced, many top jobs still
unfilled, the liberal press anxious and poll numbers plummeting,
Hillary Clinton’s departure could sink an administration that already
feels like a listing ship, leaving her a clear path to the Democratic
nomination for 2012.
Her relationship with the president,
inherently unstable personally, erodes every day that he takes his
swinging axe to the remarkable bipartisan achievements of the Clinton
presidency, especially welfare reform and fiscal discipline. While the
biggest shocks of this presidency to date have been at home, in the
foreign sphere Hillary’s job as secretary of state is made more
difficult by a distracted and inexperienced president.
Serious
people do not like being associated with a White House that, eight
weeks after the inauguration and four months after the election, in a
time of genuine economic distress, did not have one single nominee for
the various treasury jobs, much less a single actual appointee sitting
behind a single desk. Paul Volcker, the head of Obama’s economic
advisory council, recently called the situation at treasury “shameful.”
This staffing fiasco is repeated across defence, state and many other
departments. Nothing like it has ever been seen in Washington.
Also
severely impinging on Hillary’s credibility and ability to do her job
is the cession of a huge part of her responsibilities to Richard
Holbrooke, who is seen on all sides in Washington as an empire-building
elephant whom no secretary of state wants in his or her backyard. If
Holbrooke succeeds with the poisoned chalice of “AfPak,” Obama gives
him Clinton’s job; but if Holbrooke fails, she fails. She is too big a
force in America to be bullied into the box she’s in.
And the
president’s sour relationship with a military with which Hillary enjoys
mutual respect is well known. Obama repeatedly denied that General
Petraeus’s surge was working while it was proceeding, and continued to
do so long after it had succeeded. The president’s cynical warmongering
in Afghanistan to compensate for his perceived softness on Iraq is
alarming many people. Meanwhile, at a time of gigantic new federal
spending in every other arena, the military is being promised the
largest spending cuts since the late 1940s.
Obama’s constant
signals of weakness abroad—from the embarrassing hope that adversaries
like Putin and Ayatollah Khamenei will change behaviour as a result of
friendly overtures, to big reductions in defence spending, to
schizophrenia over Palestine—are already inviting a frightening range
of challenges and rebuffs around the globe. Chinese vessels never used
to bully the US Navy as they did the USNS Impeccable in March. North
Korea had never before ripped up its agreement with the south or
offered the calculated challenge as publicly pre-announcing the date of
an illegal ballistic missile test. Not since Jimmy Carter has the world
seen Russia laugh at Washington as it did over the recent request to
swap eastern European missile defence for co-operation in Iran, or the
cheap ($2.1bn) Russian buyout of America’s base in Kyrghizstan (forcing
vital Nato supplies for Afghanistan overland through Russia and Iran,
and giving Putin and the mullahs huge leverage). And even worse than
the tragic Vietnam that Obama is digging in Afghanistan is the fact
that, in two years, Iran will probably have a nuclear weapon. This
would be one of the greatest foreign policy disasters in American
history. Obama has time to do something about it but will not.
The
Republican party is in such disarray that it is letting Obama’s crisis
go to waste. The 37-year-old Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal, a rising
Republican star, delivered a wooden speech in response to the
president’s congressional address. The new head of the Republican
national committee, Michael Steele, recently had a public spat with
conservative talk radio titan Rush Limbaugh. Sarah Palin and Mike
Huckabee are dividing the working class and religious right between
them and Mitt Romney is staying quiet for now. A few congressmen,
senators and governors have begun to make hay out of the natural
antipathy of their constituents towards huge increases in welfare,
debt, and state interference, but none has so far managed to stand out
from the crowd. General Petraeus, perhaps the brightest star on the
Republican horizon, is speaking in Iowa, the first stop in the party
nomination process, later this spring. In the long term, an Obama
administration might be rescued by a Newt Gingrich figure bringing
growth-oriented economic policies back to Washington from the right. In
such an event, many Democratic senators and congressmen would be voted
out of office. For the moment, though, the president’s real threat is
from within his own increasingly restive party.
Obama’s
dismantling of President Clinton’s economic legacy is injurious. For
moderate Democrats who recognise the national mainstream as the party’s
best hope of a long-term majority, it is highly dangerous to be
associated with such an ideological presidency. It is even worse when
the ideology is the one least likely to work. Weakness and inexperience
abroad is already causing a dangerous escalation in tensions. At home,
the president’s policies represent a history-making, debt-fuelled
arrogation of vast territories of private life and the economy. More
war and less growth is bad leadership and bad politics.

DO U HEAR WHAT I HEAR
Did you hear it?
I heard it – did you?
You should have heard it and heard it loud and clear during the 179 million dollar inauguration celebrations.
And you should have been deafened by it when the horrific stimulus
bill, the bail-outs, the massive budget and the printing of a trillion
dollars passed.
Listen to what the powerful are telling you every day.
All
of them - the president, congress, the big banks, Wall Street, the car
manufacturers - They continue to say it - loud and clear – again and
again.
Pay attention! Listen – they’re saying it again.
“LET THEM EAT CAKE”
“LET THEM EAT CAKE”.
For those of you a little rusty on historical references:
During
the 1780’s, the French court of Louis the XVI enjoyed a lavish
lifestyle financed by the taxes from their impoverished people. Only
the peasants paid taxes.
Naturally - the ‘nobles’ were exempt from taxation. Year after year,
the harvests were poor and the high cost of bread and other staples
caused many peasants to die of starvation.
Queen Marie Antoinette, when told that the peasants were ‘restless’
because they ‘did not have enough bread’ she replied, “then let them
eat cake”.
Hence the French revolution. The over taxed and starving people had had enough.
This
is where we are in America now. All of this out-of control spending is
bad enough but the real danger, the real and permanent change to our
country is illegal immigration.
OUR COUNTRY IS CHANGING AND SLIPPING AWAY BEFORE OUR EYES.
IF WE DO NOTHING - 10 YEARS FROM NOW – YOU’LL THINK “HOW DID THIS HAPPEN”?
Honest, hard-working, middle class Americans are being squeezed into poverty.
Our backs – our work – our taxes funneled to the rich.
But not just the rich – our backs – our work – our taxes funneled to the “poor” and to illegal aliens.
The poor can stay home to feed and breed – while we’re out killing
ourselves, working two and three jobs and watching our taxes go up and
up.
Illegals flood in here; take our jobs; and suck our system dry. There
are fewer and fewer dollars for the needs of American citizens. The
illegals are ‘eating up’ our tax money. Illegals burden schools,
welfare, housing, prisons, hospitals, and more and we’re paying for it
all.
OUR TAXES ARE FINANCING OUR OWN DESTRUCTION.
Don’t
you get it? Listen to what they are saying, “let them eat cake”. The
Washington aristocrats know there’s nothing you can do about anything.
Did they listen to the ‘people’ about that stimulus bill, about the
bail-outs, about anything? No!! So, they certainly aren’t going to
listen to us about amnesty – and that’s just over the horizon.
The aristocrats are convinced there’s nothing you can do. Amnesty is
Obama’s next action. (Recently, Nancy Pelosi called illegal aliens
“Patriots”).
Sure, call your elected aristocrat – it won’t work. Call them anyway
just to aggravate them - but don’t expect change. You can call and
e-mail your Senator or Representative until your eyes bleed – it won’t
matter. They believe the voters are stupid – and we must be – why are
any of these bums still in office and in office for decades?
No matter who is on the ballot – vote for someone else.
The Washington aristocrats laugh at the thought that you’ll vote them
out of office. HA!! What’s your choice - an arrogant, corrupt
politician with a ‘D’ behind his name or an arrogant, corrupt
politician with an ‘R’ behind his name?
We certainly cannot stop voting - we must vote - but it’s not gonna
change things rapidly enough to stop this amnesty which will be the
final nail in the coffin of our country.
Amnesty will put so many foreign-born immigrants on the voting rolls –
the middle-class working citizens will be out-voted and doomed. These
new ‘legalized‘ ‘residents’ and America’s current welfare class will
dominate and control the vote. And you better know they will vote to
put their hands in the wallets of the middle class for even more taxes.
The politicians will pander to this huge voting block – promising more
and more entitlements – from the middle class ‘cookie jar’ - us. So
what can we do? Read on.
The Washington aristocrats believe we are powerless. We can’t organize
a newsworthy ‘million man march’ - they’re right about that. They know
that
we million men don’t have time. Dammit - we’re working everyday - one
and two jobs. The aristocrats take comfort in that - they count on it.
We’re not visible enough – we’re not in their faces, active,
demonstrating. And ya know what, we can’t be. But, my fellow citizens
of this beloved country - we don’t have to be – there is a way.
Think
about what you’ve heard from Washington over the past few months. They
need us to “spend money”. Washington aristocrats admit that “the
economic health of America depends on the middle class spending money”.
They want us to buy cars, appliances, furniture, clothes, and
knick-knacks. Saving money is not what they really want us to do. (The
middle class is not who they really want to protect, anyway.
Don’t listen to the lies they spew). They only need our money moving thru the economy.
To them, we’re just a big pocket book.
So let’s look at the power we do have – the real hard power.
While we still have some money left – before they suck us dry - let’s
organize a nation-wide economic revolution. Let’s use our money like a
weapon – a ‘pitchfork’, a ‘musket’.
LET’S ATTACK WITH IT. We can do this. Are you pissed off enough?
Yes we can! We can make those fat and financially-insulated pigs sit up and take notice.
We can make those cushy high-living aristocrats in Washington with their big pensions and
graft, sit up in their tax-payer paid arm chairs and get frightened – very frightened.
This
will be easy. You don’t have to do anything: no demonstrations, no
picketing, no letter writing. Threaten action with what you have in
your wallet.
Time to cripple company after company until our voices are heard –
until those national companies run crying to Washington. (What the hell
– if a company faces bankruptcy they get our tax dollars anyway – what
the hell is the difference?)
ROLLING BOYCOTTS. No signs to carry. No need to take time off from work.
No letters or petitions to write.
Just use – ACTUALLY - NOT USE – your dollars.
The internet will organize it for us.
All we need to do right now is begin to spread the word. Forward this
info along. Just press that ‘send’ button to as many as you can. Once
this gets to 1000 people then 10000 people – can a million be far
behind? And once there – our economic revolution begins.
The sound of our wallets snapping shut - will be heard ‘round the world.
WE
will be in charge. Not Washington controlling the economy, not Wall
Street, not the banks. Listen up – world! Listen up Washington! The
American consumer is in charge.
WE’RE DAMN MAD AND WE’RE FIGHTING BACK:
And
here’s how: We make a list of national companies – fast food companies,
department stores, grocery stores, gas stations, etc.
And we choose one store a month.
For instance – during the month of April – no purchases at XYX donut/coffee shop. Buy your caffeine fix from their competitor.
Next month – no purchases at their competitor
The next month – no purchases at ABC department store.
And so on
And we announce - in advance - to these businesses that we’re gonna do it.
Believe
me – when Dunkin Donuts or Home Depot or Sears see their empty store
for an entire month, our voices will finally be heard. These
nation-wide stores have lobbying power and will get Washington’s ear
‘cause it’s for damn sure the aristocrats ain’t listening to you or me.
Add a company to this list. What company can get the ear of
Washington quickly? What month should we begin? That’s it – that’s all
we have to do.
You just have to check the blog once a month to see which store has been “Earmarked”.
To
really have an impact – buy as little of anything and everything from
any store - as possible. Next Christmas instead of the newest toy fad,
give your children the priceless gift of patriotism and love of
country. Give few gifts – if any. And explain to them why.
Tell them you and they are saving America for future children.
WE CAN DO THIS – WE MUST. AMERICA IS RUNNING OUT OF TIME
Our demands:
NO AMNESTY – NONE, NONE, NONE
NONE OF THE ‘BAILOUT’ MONEY FOR ANY ILLEGAL ALIEN’S MORTGAGE.
NOT ONE GOVERNMENT DOLLAR TO ILLEGAL ALIENS FOR ANYTHING.
NO SOCIAL SECURITY
NO HOUSING
NO FOOD STAMPS
NO MEDICAL CARE. NOTHING
ALL STORES MUST PLEDGE TO VERIFY THE CITIZENSHIP OR LEGAL RESIDENCY OF EVERY EMPLOYEE
ALL STORES MUST INFORM WASHINGTON THAT THEY SUPPORT OUR DEMANDS
AND – FINALLY – WASHINGTON MUST USE SOME OF THAT FAT STIMULUS PACKAGE TO BUILD THAT WALL ALONG THE SOUTHERN BORDER – NOW!!
SECURE OUR NATION - STOP THE FLOW – NOW.
(Hiring people for the wall - that would create jobs – wouldn’t it)?
Targeted
stores must link arms with us and publicly inform Washington - “our tax
dollars are for our ‘homegrowns’, ‘for our citizens’ – not for illegal
aliens.
Dear fellow American, please don’t whine that ‘a boycott will affect your job or that your brother will be out of work’.
If we don’t stop the flood of low-wage workers, drug dealers, gang
members, and welfare recipients from overtaking and overwhelming our
country – you ain’t gonna have a job – neither will your kids or your
grandkids.
Will boycotts of stores cause folks to lose their jobs? Perhaps.
Perhaps not – we don’t know. But what we do know is “if we do nothing
we will lose our country”.
Buy
nothing!! Do not waiver. Stand tall for your country. Doesn’t matter if
the car dealership is offering new cars for a dollar – do not buy!
Listen to what Washington is saying “we gotta get people buying again”. They need us to spend money. We do just the opposite.
Americans – this may be the last chance for our nation – it is being destroyed from without and within.
If we middle class citizens announce that we will stop buying and -
when we do stop buying - watch what will happen. What do we have to
lose?
Our cumulative dollars are an incredible power. Flex that greenback power!
Need
your coffee? - then go to the mom & pop coffee shop. When we are
targeting a national pharmacy chain – go to the local independent
store. Need a stove? Go to an independent dealer. Oh, it’s gonna cost
you $100.00 more at the independent appliance store? Would you rather
give up that $100.00 now, - or do you want your grandchild to have to
stand in line to beg (in Spanish) for a toilet-cleaning job?
We can change the course of our country.
Otherwise, we will lay on our deathbeds weeping for the impoverished
3rd world country we have left behind for our grandchildren – the
beautiful country that used to be America.
Our million man dollars are power. Let’s flex our financial muscle. No
more spending until our southern border is closed. Spend nothing.
Donate nothing – except to those organizations which help or support
our servicemen and women and their families.
Do
not be embarrassed; do not apologize. There’s nothing wrong with
standing up for our own citizens. Remember – illegals want our stuff
and our government is letting them get it. Protect your over-taxed
fellow Americans with this simple but effective rolling boycott. The
hell with anyone who wants to demean us with ridiculous labels and
names. (And – we all know those names).
(Remember that childhood taunt, “Sticks and stones…etc…”? Recite it – even to yourself – when the accusations begin).
Do not fear the ‘name’ someone calls you today. Would you rather be
called “unemployed” and “broke” and a “minority” in your own country,
tomorrow?
The
timing couldn’t be more perfect for an economic boycott. Washington is
practically begging us to buy, buy. Folks aren’t spending much money
anyway. Our boycott will capitalize on that and we’ll get the credit.
Spend nothing; donate nothing until our southern border is closed!
Stand up for our Nation! Close those wallets! We can do this

The
key to Russia’s transition from democracy under Yeltsin to tyranny
under Putin was to exploit a crisis, and use a dedicated corps to take
control of branch after branch of government at all levels of
authority, proceeding then to eliminate independent media outlets and
political opposition.
The crisis was twofold, first Russia’s
economic disaster that was blamed on an excessively deregulated free
market and the heads of various corporations. Secondly the disastrous
war against Islamic terrorists in Chechnya, and an attempt to intervene
in Yugoslavia to prevent the rise of a Muslim Albanian state in Kosovo.
An economic crisis blamed on deregulation and two wars against Muslim terrorists. Sound familiar yet?
Widely
blamed for economic corruption and military failures, Yeltsin resigned
turning over the government to Ex-KGB man Putin. Putin’s solution to
Russia’s economic problems was nationalization.
Putin’s regime
forcibly and fraudulently seized a number of corporations, most
prominently Gazprom, while conducting a smear campaign against their
executives. Some were jailed, when they attempted to appeal, their
lawyers were jailed too. He removed local representation, appointing
State Governors personally. Power was centralized through him.
For
this Putin was hailed as a reformer fighting for the people, who had
brought stability to Russia. Using the seized loot of nationalized
corporations, he created a network composed of KGB and ex-KGB personnel
who now control most of Russia’s political and business infrastructure.
Much of Russia’s wealth was siphoned away as bribes to them.
The
press was not openly nationalized, but it was ruthlessly winnowed. The
media ceaselessly chant praise of Putin. Opposition outlets have been
taken over or shut down. Journalists who dissent are beaten and
eventually killed, if they don’t get the message. The media speaks in
one voice.
Putin’s advisors created Nashi “Ours”, officially
the “Youth Democratic Anti-Fascist Movement”, a youth corps personally
loyal to Putin and his agenda. With the passage of HR 1388, the (GIVE)
Act, or as one subtitle is labeled with no trace of irony, (Learn and
Serve America) ,only the comma before America is missing– it’s worth
taking a look at how the Russian version works.
It’s official. To be patriotic in Russia is to be a fan of Putin, specifically a Putin Youth.
“The idea was to create an ideology based on a total devotion to the
president and his course,” says a Kremlin adviser, Sergei Markov.
While their methods are still mostly street theater, it’s probably only
a matter of time before they graduate to more serious violence. Indeed,
their recruiting boot camps feature paramilitary training to fight
against fascists
Another deeply disturbing government
initiative is labeling critics “extremists” and criminals, another
tactic of all serious totalitarian states. When you can criminalize
criticism of the government, there is nothing you can’t get away with,
and all remaining freedoms are hanging by a thread.
Now
officially Nashi looks almost benevolent, a service corps of youth
volunteers that aids the sick and disabled, provides information, aids
the birth rate and meets with political leaders. In return its
“volunteers” receive college educations followed by careers in politics
and the Russian bureaucracy. It looks a lot like the vision for a youth
service corps embedded in HR 1388.
Of course the real purpose
of Nashi is a national corps of volunteers combating “fascism”.
Fascists being anyone who criticizes Putin. Their guiding principle is
an obsessive devotion to Putin. Their ultimate purpose is to form the
next government party, one composed of men and women completely
obedient to Putin, membership in which is compulsory for government
service.
It is fascinating to see this reverse engineered
version of the Communist and Nazi parties. It’s also horrifying because
the ingredients are in place for the same process to be applied to the
United States.
Obama rose to power to power based on an
economic crisis and two wars. His response to the crisis is to push
nationalization and centralization, backed by a cult of personality.
His advisors are determined to leverage this crisis to transform him
into a savior, to be given credit for ending an economic depression,
followed by giving him virtually unlimited power.
Obama
already has widespread media worship, but his paranoid control over the
press makes it clear that he isn’t satisfied with anything but total
power. Hence the early campaign against Rush Limbaugh and then CNBC
figures who criticized him. Like Putin, you can’t support Obama 75
percent of the time. You must support him 100 percent of the time, or
keep your mouth shut.
If Obama’s plans come to pass, the
casualties will be independent businesses which will be given the
choice between serving as Obama supporters, their CEO’s serving a role
similar to that of Putin’s pet oligarchs, and state governments, which
will become unable to meet their debts and expenses, and will be taken
over by Federally appointed caretakers that will become Governors in
all but name.
The youth corps would serve as the final
element. HR 1388 calls for integrating them into every academic and
learning environment, including private schools. It calls for treating
“service based learning” as a fundamental part of every curriculum,
from cradle to university. It lays out specific guidelines and the bare
bones of a far larger plan with campuses and superintendents, with a 6
billion dollar price tag, over Obama’s first term.
Will this
really happen here? It might. The future isn’t set and there are many
variables, but we are moving along a similar road and it behooves us to
take a look at what happened in Russia, because contrary to what many
believe, it can happen here.
Throughout the 20th century,
power has increasingly moved out of the hands of the American people
and into the hands of local and national bureaucracies. Tax rates have
climbed in order to fund the constant expansion of government, which in
turn has placed more and more government demands on the average person.
The
problem is not the left’s phantom military-industrial complex, but the
very real balance beam between corporations and government, that are
likely to end the same way they did in Europe or Russia. With the
bureaucracy co-opting corporations into government rule.
Law
enforcement has gained more authority over a general public that now
reflexively defers to their power, and feels inept and unable to engage
in any form of self-defense. Answering to authority, a reflex once
described as foreign to Americans by Lafayette, is now a commonplace
part of daily life.
Independent thought has become
increasingly absent, people get their opinions from the corporate media
and from the wider celebrity oriented discourse, that helped push Obama
to the top. People have stopped listening and they have stopped
thinking. Many have also stopped believing. Values have become
degraded, religion has become entertainment with celebrity preachers
and rabbis mixing pop culture populism with feel good advice. The
difference between right and wrong, propriety and impropriety,
selflessness and selfishness is no longer apparent to most people.
All
the conditions are there for implementing authoritarian rule. And all
the conditions are also there for the people to wake and restore
America as a government of the people and by the people, that governs
the people least. Which way the pendulum will swing, may determine
where a decade from now former top American political figures are
giving testimony somewhere abroad about how America ceased to be a free
nation.

By: Marion Valentine March 4, 2009 at 12:43 pm ANALYZING INTELLIGENCE LITTLE PIECES IN THE BIG PICTURE By Marion Valentine USN(disabled) I was in Navy Intelligence for nine years, and this is how I was taught to analyze Intelligence. You
can put a single piece of a jigsaw puzzle under a microscope, analyze
it, dissect it, and still would have no idea what the completed puzzle
would look like. Most people will focus on a single event as a separate
entity, and think when they understand it, that they have the whole
picture. That is not the case, the failure of Fannie Mae/Freddie
Mac, just a small piece, the bailout another, the run on the banks
another, all big pieces but just a small part of the overall picture. To
put together the outline (or border) of the picture (puzzle) of where
we are today, you must reach back to the year 1948 to pick up a few
pieces, then move forward through the years gathering pieces that fit
together perfectly . As you move through the years
gathering pieces you add to the inside of the border until you get
close to the present time. Pieces of current events matched together
soon leaves you with a small part of the overall picture that is
still not complete. Future events will eventually print those pieces,
but if you have correctly matched all the pieces to this point, you
will be able to determine the overall theme of the picture. That
is what I did in my Article America In Peril, to outline and match the
pieces (events, Public records) through the years to get the picture of
how the United States has moved towards Socialism. In my article
Planned or Happenstance, I conclude the overall theme is Global Communist domination. I
ask you who read this, read America In Peril, Do your own research, and
add or take away from the picture I have put together, but you must
only use documented public records which will justify adding or
removing a piece, remembering public records are permanent, and cannot
be dismissed because you don’t like their contents. Then I ask you to read Planned or Happenstance and see if your conclusion of the overall theme matches mine. I hope I get tons of email with your ideas. Marion can be reached at madaket6@yahoo.com
By: Marion Valentine March 20, 2009 at 12:27 pm “STEALTH GOVERNMENT” CLOSING IN BEHIND THE SMOKE SCREEN, While you were sleeping Most
of you know how the military uses smoke screens to hide their
movements. You also know that they send out scouting patrols to locate
the enemy, and examine the terrain. If you have been keeping up
with the MSM headline stories for the last 60 days and had the
foresight to look behind the smoke screen, you may have noticed the
Obama administration slowly moving towards their real goal. The
dust up Rush Limbaugh, the AIG bonuses, were just smoke screens behind
which they were doing things that will ensure the total collapse of the
US economy and possibly the World economy. The scouting parties:
Mentioning that disabled Veterans would have to use Private health care
insurance to pay for their treatment, met too much resistance and was
abandoned. The idea to shred used casings of certain caliber ammunition
so they could not be reloaded met the same fate, But while we were
focusing on the smoke screen(The headline MSM stories) they slipped in
every Socialist program they could in bills that very few read. In
1966 two Socialist professors, Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox
Pliven, at Columbia University published an article that outlined how
to create a crisis to advance Socialist Objectives. They were inspired
by Marxist organizer Saul Alinski. ACORN is another group that uses the
Cloward/Pliven Socialist Tactics of creating a crisis. TOTUS
(Teleprompter Of The US), I refuse to call him POTUS, his
Puppetmasters, Rockefeller, Rothschild, George Soros and the 100 plus
members of Democracy Alliance, and ACORN are working 24/7 at a
breakneck pace to push policy to “create” the next big crisis. What could be the next big crisis? The
next crisis could be the complete collapse of the US economy, or it
could come in the form of a terrorist attack that would be far more
devastating than 9/11. Click on the link below and watch the video. http://www.tangle.com/view_video.php?viewkey=0861ff3eabea1ceb73e4 Why the rush? The
next big crisis must happen before the 2010 elections, because the way
the Poll numbers are falling the Democrats will less popular than a
stray cat at a dog show. The crisis must be so dire, there will be
little or no resistance when TOTUS declares a National Emergency and
imposes Martial Law. What is the real goal of TOTUS and his puppetmasters. The
goal is to turn the U.S.A. into a Communist Dictator controlled nation,
and ultimately just a Nation State member of the Global Union of
Socialist Nation States. All world banks, all military,(France has
already turned control of their Military over to the UN) all Universal
Health care, all education and monetary policies will be controlled by
the United Nations. Domination of the worlds resources, wealth and
people by the “elite” ruling class will be complete. You may ask, what about the Muslim Countries. Since
most of the Muslim countries are almost totally dependent on oil for
their economy, The Global Union of Socialist Nation States will drill
for every drop of oil and natural gas. Mine every lump of coal. Flood
the market with cheap energy and bankrupt the Muslim countries, forcing
them to join and comply with the Global Union of Socialist Nation
States. Marion A. Valentine U.S. Navy Intelligence/Cryptologist(disabled) Marion can be reached at madaket6@yahoo.com
By: Marion Valentine February 26, 2009 at 7:04 pm PLANNED OR HAPPENSTANCE Thursday, February 26, 2009 PLANNED OR JUST HAPPENSTANCE: YOU DECIDE When
I first started researching Obama and his associates two years ago. I
thought He was just a puppet for the Socialist who wanted to gain
control of this country. The more I researched and connected
daily events the more I became convinced that it is a plan by
Communists for world domination. My back ground for research: I
spent nine years in Navy Intelligence, the last six of which was spent
in studying past actions, current actions by the Socialists and using
the best intelligence available predicting what the future actions and
outcomes would be. In a previous article “America In Peril” In
past events I listed the background of Frank Marshal Davis (Obama’s
mentor) The goals of the Communist Party USA as entered in the
Congressional Record In June, 1963, to illustrate how many of those
goals had already been accomplished, and to show that one of the goals
was to recruit and train selected people to run for office. I added
transcripts of an interview with Yuri Bezmenov (a KGB agent who
defected in 1970 and taped the interview in 1984) to show how the goals
had been accomplished. I Linked Obama to the New Party which is just
another name for the Communist Party usa, and posted a press release
from the New Party showing that indeed Obama was a member when he ran
for the Illinois Senate seat. Next I listed the provisions of
the Biden Crime Act, and a list of Executive Orders, that when envoked
will virtually give Obama Dictator status. Recent events lead me to believe that the plan is far more reaching than just turning America into a Socialist country. The
blockage of any attempts to regulate Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac by the
Democrats from 1998-2006 ensured they would crash, which they did in
Sept. 2007. But the most telling of all events was the 2 hour run on
the banks in Sept. 2008 to the tune of 550 billion dollars. Democrat—Rep.
Paul Kanjorski of Pennsylvania said that if authorities had not closed
the banks, $5 ½ TRILLION would have been withdrawn from US banks, which
would have caused the collapse of the US and within 24 hours the
collapse of the world’s economic system. Who but Obama’s
Puppetmasters George Soros and the 100+ members of the Democracy
Alliance have enough money in money market funds to execute such a run
on the banks. There is nothing illegal about withdrawing one’s
own money from the bank, but this much at one time caused panic, at the
precise time John McCain had just pulled a couple of points ahead of
Obama in the National Polls. Was this the Puppetmasters warning
to the world and to George Bush, that if they did not accept a Global
Socialist world Order their economy would collapse. I try to post information here that you will not find in the Main Stream media.
Many articles are written by others than myself, though there are a few posts that I have written.
A
well informed people have liberty, A people indoctrinated by false
information are already slaves, but are unaware of their captivity.
The
old Russian KGB called the Indoctrination of a people to accept an
ideology, “demoralization.” Yuri Bezmenov, a KGB agent who escaped in
1970, and gave an interview in 1984, said “The demoralization of
America has Been accomplished.”

After only two months of the Obama presidency, Americans are
horrified, angry, depressed, and on the verge of full-scale revolt
against the president and his toadying Socialist acolytes for doing
their best to destroy our once-vibrant economy, inflict decades of debt
on our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and usher in
what historians will surely record as The Age of The Hubristic and
Incompetent Presidency.
This assessment is borne out by polls, man-and-woman-in-the-street
interviews, escalating unemployment figures, and creeping inflation
which threatens to become the hyperinflation that will put the final
nail in an economy that up until 2006 – when the Democrats took control
of the Congress – was on a consistently upward trajectory, with
unprecedentedly low unemployment, and hard-working Americans enjoying
the fruits of their labors.
But all that changed when an inexperienced novice from the Chicago
Machine offered “hope” and “change” to an electorate that had been
brainwashed by a leftist media to believe that President Bush had lost
the war in Iraq (wrong…we won!), instituted “unfair” policies toward
our enemies via the Patriot Act, Gitmo, rendition, et al. (which kept
us safe!), and supported an “unfair” free-market economy (which kept
about 92 percent of Americans flourishing!).
Yet in a mere two months, our radical leftwing president has:
- Demoralized our heroic troops with drastic cuts to our military budget.
- Threatened to force our injured heroes to pay their own healthcare expenses – since rescinded, but don’t count on that lasting.
- Compromised our national security by closing Gitmo with no plan for where the released terrorists will go.
- Mandated his kill-as-many-unborn-infants-as-possible agenda by overturning the Mexico City Policy.
- Rewarded Hamas terrorists with $900 million to replenish their killing machine against Israel.
- All-but bankrupted our economy and left future generations with mountains of debt.
- Proposed a “domestic security force” – complete with uniforms – that reeks of the Third Reich’s Brown Shirts.
- Launched his Acorn cronies to foist a “Pledge to Obama” – not to America – on the public.
- Unleashed an army of incompetents to deal with our economic and financial problems.
Yet Obama persists in supporting those incompetents – and the tax cheats – who surround him.
Why? I suspect that Obama’s destroy-America agenda is to actualize
his long-time hatred of the American way of life in order to convert
America’s exceptionalism into the documented history of Socialism’s
lengthy history of drastic failures.
Again, why? It is because Socialists like Obama – I’m being kind
here; it looks more like Communism to me – believe that minorities like
blacks and Hispanics and unionists and women and gays and teachers are
all too stupid to make it on their own in a capitalist system.
Apparently, all of these career-victim groups agree with him, while
ignoring all they’ve gained over the past hundred-years in genuine
equality and justice, their serial grievances notwithstanding.
Interesting, isn’t it, that our borders are being overrun by the
real victims of oppressive regimes while our own home-grown “victims”
aren’t fleeing to any of the countries they revere – like Cuba,
Venezuela, Russia, or the terrorist-supporting Mideast states like
Saudi Arabia, Syria, or so-called “Palestine”?
But there is one thing our increasingly impoverished populace can
thank the president for, which is saving them the cost – well over
$250,000 – of sending their children to Ivy League schools. Once
thought of as both the realization of success and the path to both
personal power and the “better life” that a free=market economy
offered, the eight schools of Ivy status – Harvard, Yale, UPenn, Brown,
Dartmouth, Princeton, Columbia and Cornell – have been distinguished by
their academic excellence and selective admissions, although the past
several decades have seen steadily increasing admissions of minorities.
THE PRESIDENT’S IVY’S IDIOTS
So who are the “brains” of the Ivy League guiding our country in
this perilous time, the top echelon who are pretending to have a clue
about “fixing” the economy through the current
recession-cum-depression?
- President Barack Obama: Columbia U; Harvard Law School. Business experience: Zero.
- Sec. of State Hillary Clinton: Yale; Yale Law School. Business
experience: selling Brownie and Girl Scout cookies in grade school.
- Sec. of the Treasury (and tax cheat) Timothy Geithner: Dartmouth; (Master’s from John Hopkins). Business experience: Zero.
- Attorney General at Dept. of Justice Eric Holder: Columbia; Columbia Law School. Business experience: Zero.
- Sec. of Commerce Gary Locke: Yale; (Boston U. Law School). Business experience: part-time jobs through college.
- Sec. of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan: Harvard; Master’s from Harvard. Business experience: Zero.
All of the above are Ivy Leaguers – the so-called best and brightest –
who are running our country and effectively running it into the ground
– God help us! But there are plenty of non-Ivy idiots who are aiding
and abetting the president’s destroy-America agenda.
- Vice President (gaffe-o-meter) Joseph Biden: UDelaware; Syracuse U. Law School.
- Sec. of Defense Robert Gates: William & Mary; Master’s from Indiana U; Ph.D. from Georgetown U.
- Sec. of Agriculture Tom Vilsack: Hamilton College; Albany Law School.
- Sec. of Labor (okay, her husband has tax liens) Hilda Solis: CalState Polytechnic U; Univ. of Southern CA.
- Sec. of Transportation Ray (Chicago Machine) LaHood: Bradley U.
- Sec. of Energy (the man-made global-warming huckster) Steven Chu: U of Rochester; Ph.D. from U of CA.
- Sec. of Veteran’s Affairs General Eric Shinseki: U.S. Military Academy; Master’s from Duke U.
- Sec. of Homeland Security (don’t protect the Mexican border) Janet Napolitano: Santa Clara U (CA); U of Virginia Law School.
- Sec. of Education Arne (Chicago Machine) Duncan:
- Sec. of Health and Human Services Kathleen (yes to abortion) Sebelius: Trinity Washington U; Masters from U of Kansas.
And that is not to omit the positions of people who also enjoy
Cabinet-rank, the president’s all-important Council of Economic
Advisors.
- Chairwoman Christina Romer: William & Mary; Master’s from Mass. Institute of Technology (MIT). Business experience: Zero.
- The Office of Management & Budget’s Director Peter R. Orszag:
Princeton; Master’s from London School of Economics. Business
experience: Zero.
- The United States Trade Representative Ambassador-designate Ronald
Kirk: Austin College; U of Texas Law School. Business experience: Zero.
- The United States Ambassador to the United Nations Ambassador Susan
Rice: Stanford U; Master’s and Doctorate from Oxford. Business
experience: Zero.
- The White House Chief of Staff Rahm (Chicago Machine) Emanuel:
Evanston School of Ballet; Sarah Lawrence College; Master’s from
Northwestern U. Business experience: worked at Arby’s restaurant while
in high school.
Then there are the two Representatives – and architects of the Fannie
Mae and Freddie Mac implosion, both with Zero business experience –
Cong. Barney Frank (Harvard) and Sen. Chris Dodd (Providence College,
U. of Louisville Law School). And let’s not forget the Chairman of the
Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke (Harvard; Ph.D. from M.I.T.), whose
business experience involved working construction in high school and as
a waiter through college.
Okay, I take it back. It’s not just the poison Ivy set, but also
those with fancy credentials from other schools who have demonstrated
that their guiding leftwing philosophy translates into disastrous
economic policy. Incredible, isn’t it, that a bunch of eggheads and
career politicians with no practical, hands-on, real-life experience in
the business world are purporting to be “experts” in getting us out of
the mess many of them helped to create!
POISON KILLS!
Today, these arrogant know-nothings, particularly President Obama
and his lackey-in-chief Tim Geithner, are asking an increasingly
skeptical – if not cynical – Congress to grant them the power to, in
effect, seize more and more private enterprises, the better to speed up
the nationalization of all profit-making businesses. Oh how they loathe
private enterprise, entrepreneurship, rugged individualism, and
America’s spirit of freedom! Oh how they revile – and love to flout –
the U.S. Constitution! Oh how these elitists love cramming their poison
pills down the gagging, choking, suffocated throats of Americans!
“Swallow this poison!” they demand. “So what if you, the taxpayer, paid for the first $180-billion stimulus dose that didn’t work. and the second $345-billion housing bailout dose that didn’t work, and the third $700-billion Wall St. bailout dose that didn’t work,
and the $1.5-trillion in debt that the Federal Reserve bought from the
U.S. Treasury dose that didn’t work, and $3.1-trillion U.S. budget that won’t work? Swallow it! And if you don’t like the taste, if it’s making you sick, well too damn bad!”
But be warned. While President Obama and Sen. Dodd are exhorting AIG
(American International Group) employees to give back the bonus money
they got, they plan to keep the $101,322 and $280,000 they gleaned,
respectively, in political donations from the failing company, while
all the time plotting to sugarcoat the next poison pill they want to
cram down the craws of Americans.
How so? Dodd (and Barney Frank, for that matter) will continue with
the duplicitous double-talk and evade-responsibility two-step they’ve
become so adept at over decades. And Obama will continue “reaching out”
to the public in gaffe-ridden appearances like his recent foray on The
Tonight Show and in overkill public forums in which he will subvert the
English language to tell Americans that poor is rich, oppressed is
emancipated, tyranny is benevolent, and that the bad taste in their
mouths from his next poison pill is good for them!
This is how the leftist so-called intelligentsia works. Say the exact
opposite of what you mean and rely on the people you consider both
stupid and gullible to believe it. To this point, Americans have given
President Obama a grace period to get his bearings and hit his stride –
the “honeymoon” period, so to speak, sort of like when a new bride (the
American people) and the new groom (the president) get to know each
other, size each other up, and see if they’re compatible.
For people like me, as for multimillions of Americans – including
increasing numbers of Democrats and Independents – the honeymoon is
over! We don’t like your America or your friends and colleagues or your
plans for our future. And we detest the poison pills that your poison
Ivys have crammed down our throats.
But thank you anyway, Mr. President, for single-handedly mobilizing
our electorate to wrest away the Congress in 2010 from the
anti-American Democrats who now infest the House and Senate.

Is
the table being set for One World Government rather than speeding the
recovery of the worldwide recession at next week’s G20 London summit?
China has now joined Russia in pressing G20 members for a single
world currency. The deadly duo, which has blocked all things America
at the United Nations, is calling for the same thing: Dumping the US
greenback as the international reserve currency for a new global system
controlled by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
So far no calls to protect the greenback by the new occupant of the Oval Office.
Days ahead of the summit, both China and Russia posted their priorities for the new global system on their official websites.
“In an essay posted on the People’s Bank of China’s website, Zhou
Xiaochuan, the central bank’s governor, said the goal would be to
create a reserve currency “that is disconnected from individual nations
and is able to remain stable in the long run, thus removing the
inherent deficiencies caused by using credit-based national
currencies.” (http://www.FT.com, March 23, 2009).
China, of course, can always justify its priority with its recently
stated anxiety about U.S. loans now that the US economy seems to have
reached its tipping point.
The Kremlin published its priorities Monday for an upcoming meeting
of the G20, “calling for the creation of a supranational reserve
currency to be issued by international institutions as part of a reform
of the global financial system,” (The MoscowTimes.com, March 17, 2009).
The Kremlin has persistently criticized the dollar’s status as the
dominant global reserve currency and has lowered its own dollar
holdings in the last few years. Both President Dmitry Medvedev and
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin have repeatedly called for the ruble to
be used as a regional reserve currency, although the idea has received
little support outside of Russia.
Both are getting a lot of help from Kazakh President Nursultan
Nazarbayev, who is calling for the “acmetal” world currency and who now
has the backing of the architect of the euro currency, Canadian
Nobel-prize winner Professor Robert Mundell.
The easy to forget “acmetal” combines the Greek word “acme”, meaning peak or best and “capital”.
“Call it acmetal in Kazakh. Call it amero in the headed-for-economic-meltdown United States of America,” Canada Free Press wrote on March 13.
The United States is headed to the Summit without a cheerleader, evidenced by the deafening silence of President Barack Obama.
It gets worse.
In the run-up to to the “press the reset button” on U.S. rekindling
ties with Russia, it is now known that Obama met secretly with Mikhail
Gorbachev last week.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs would not categorize the meeting
as secret. According to him, “The president tends to roam around the
larger (White) House and sometimes walks into meetings that weren’t
previously on his schedule”.
That means the president just happened to walk in on Gorbachev!
Guess he learned nothing from the random late-night jaunt he made
into the White House press corps when he just wanted to say “Good
Evening” and went away mad because some reporters asked real questions.
According to Gibbs, Vice President Joe Biden and Gorbachev had been
discussing ways of reducing their countries’ respective nuclear
arsenals, an issue Obama and Medvedev would talk about when they met in
London on April 2.
But Medvedev remained mum about Kremlin plans to publish its
priorities calling for the creation of a supranational reserve currency
as part of a radical reform of the global financial system?
The Moscow Times states that the Kremlin document also calls for
national banks and international financial institutions to diversify
their foreign currency reserves. It said the global financial system
should be restructured to prevent future crisis and proposed holding an
international conference after the G20 summit to adopt conventions on a
new global financial structure.
Sounds like it came right out of the United Nations resolutions book
as written by UN Poster Boy Maurice Strong with cohorts George Soros
and Gorbachev to some.
Meanwhile, Canada, which hopes Obama will live up to his promise to
keep trade alive with its biggest trading partner, is one of the Group
of 20 industrialized and developing countries, meeting in London on
April 2.
As the Hon. Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber
of Commerce said at an address at the University of Western Ontario
yesterday, ...”there has been a complete failure of political will to
overcome protectionist pressures and dismantle impediments to world
trade.
Noting the need to remember the lessons of history, Beatty recalled
how the value of global trade fell by two-thirds between 1929 and 1934.
“Memories fade, and seventy-nine years later Congress incorporated
Buy America provisions in its stimulus package to target the benefits
to American companies. It once again ignored warnings about the
dangers, including the blunt assessment by Dallas Federal Reserve
President Richard Fisher, who warned, `Protectionism is the crack
cocaine of economics. It may provide a high. It’s addictive and it
leads to economic death.’”

All Private Guns Will Be Confiscated By
September 2009, US Tells Russia
By: Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Western Subscribers
(Traducción al Español abajo)
Kremlin reports on the extraordinary
meeting held today between President Medvedev and former United States Secretaries
of State Henry Kissinger (under Nixon), James Baker (under Bush Sr.), Charles
Shultz (under Regan), former United States Defense Secretary William Perry
(under Clinton), and former US Senator and top defense expert Sam Nunn, are
stating that the Americans are acknowledging for the first time their
acceptance of a New Global Order in which they seek to partner with natural
resource rich Russia and the oil rich Nations of the Middle East in order to
ensure their survival into the 21st Century.
Leading the United States to the shocking conclusion that their very
survival is at risk has been the evaporation of 45
percent of the World’s wealth which has caused a rapid
plunge in Global manufacturing leading to a 49
percent collapse in US trade exports which the International Monetary Fund is
reported has caused the World’s economy to shrink for
the first time in 60 years and has lead Canada’s Central Bank chief David
Dodge to state the World is “facing a
long and deep recession that will fundamentally alter the nature of capitalism”.
Though Prime Minister Putin has warned that “resorting
to a printing press would be unwise and extremely dangerous”, the already bankrupt United States,
whose staggering debt is four times higher than their entire National income, has
allowed its Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Ben “Throw
Money Out of Helicopters” Bernanke to ‘create out of thin air’ a further $1.2
Trillion to stabilize the American economy, but which in turn has led to
the collapse
of the US Dollar leading the United Nations to recommend next week that the World
“ditch the
dollar as its reserve currency in favor of a shared basket of currencies”.
Russian economists further state in these reports that the United States has
been left with ‘no other option’ than
to force the massive devaluation of the US Dollar in order to ‘shake lose’ from banks and private
investors the hundreds of billions they are currently hoarding and is being blamed
for collapsing a United States where consumer spending accounts for two-thirds
of its economy and which without money to borrow, or borrowers to loan to,
is fast approaching the abyss.
With the devaluation of the US dollar, however, massive inflation will ensue
causing the value of these currently hoarded hundreds of billions of US Dollars
to plummet and forcing them to be spent before they become totally worthless, a
policy which China, the largest
Global holder of US debt, has
voiced increasing concerns about and have cut
back on their purchases of American debt even as desperation
hits their own factories as orders plunge.
These top American Officials have also assured President Medvedev that new
laws being written by the Obama administration will ‘completely’ reform the American financial system by fully
integrating it into a single Global Economy due to be enacted during the coming
G-20 summit in London.
When President Medvedev voiced his concerns to the Americans over his belief
that the US Congress would not allow such a radical new set of laws to pass,
these reports continue, Kissinger stated that the American people were being ‘primed’ to overwhelm their lawmakers
into swiftly enacting ‘in its entirety’
the Obama administrations new banking and financial laws by the outrageous behavior
of those collapsed financial giants that includes: 1.) The insurance giant AIG
which after receiving over $300 billion in US taxpayer money paid out nearly
$200 million in bonuses; 2.) The collapsed stock selling giant Merrill Lynch
which after receiving $20 billion in US taxpayer money paid out $3.6
billion in bonuses; and 3.) The collapsed US banking giant Citigroup who
after receiving $45 billion in US taxpayer money announced a $10 million
redecoration of their executive office suites.
News from the United States today further confirm Kissinger’s assertions to
President Medvedev as US Treasury Secretary Timothy
Geithner has now admitted that he had ordered
US Senator Christopher Dodd to include the executive pay provision into the
stimulus bill which was, in fact, a loophole allowing these controversial
bonuses to be paid out.
To such machinations being utilized by their supposed ‘leaders’ against them in order to pave the road from a once sovereign
United States to this New World Order these Americans remain nearly clueless,
but when pressed by President Medvedev on the plans to ensure that civil
society on the North American continent doesn’t break down Kissinger reportedly
replied, “By September we’ll have
confiscated all privately owned guns so it really doesn’t matter what we do, we’ll
still be in charge”.
Russian Intelligence reports state that gun ownership statistics in the
United States vary widely, but is estimated to be that nearly 50 percent of US households
have nearly 270 million guns, none of which these Americans seem now ready to
part with without a fight.
But, new reports coming from the United States show that they are
fast adopting the tactics used by the German Nazis to disarm their society
prior to the installation of fascist rule and martial law by first rendering all
private guns useless by eliminating and restricting the ammunition they use. And
from new reports coming from the United States
we can see that this ‘plan’ is already being instituted with ammunition
shortages being reported in Idaho, Georgia,
and Louisiana,
and a new law just introduced in California which would:
1. Stop the private transfer
between individuals of more than 50 rounds of ammunition.
2. License and tax anyone
selling handgun ammunition commercially and force these stores to get
background checks on anyone selling ammunition.
3. Get a thumbprint from anyone
buying handgun ammunition.
4. Ban all ammunition sales
that don't take place face-to- face, in other words, ban mail-order sales.
Even more chilling for American gun owners was the Obama administrations
order to the US Military on March 12 which stated: “Effective
immediately DOD Surplus, LLC, will be implementing new requirements for
mutilation of fired shell casings. The new DRMS requirement calls for DOD
Surplus personnel to witness the mutilation of the property and sign the
Certificate of Destruction.” which would have crippled the US ammunition
industry, who are the largest purchasers of used military ammunition brass, but
after found out about by US Senators was quickly withdrawn.
To the reasons feared by the leadership class in the United States
of their citizens retaining the right to firearms we can read:
“As
the growing world-wide economic crisis deepens, military forces from Canada,
the United States, and the United Kingdom are preparing to meet angry citizens
on the street. The economic crisis - and the public outrage it is causing - is
at the forefront of intelligence agencies and military forces in the western
world.
Prominent
trends forecaster Gerald Celente has been sounding
the alarm for years, warning that riots and tax revolts are coming to America.
The Pentagon, U. K. Ministry of Defense, and Canadian military apparently
agree. In November of 2008 the United States Army War College released the
report Known Unknowns: Unconventional "Strategic Shocks" in Defense
Strategy Development. The report identifies economic collapse as a reason for
the defense establishment to conduct domestic operations. The report states,
"Widespread
civil violence inside the United States would force the defense establishment
to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order and human
security. Deliberate employment of weapons of mass destruction or other
catastrophic capabilities, unforeseen economic collapse, loss of functioning
political and legal order, purposeful domestic resistance or
insurgency..."
The
CIA and MI5 are both watching the economic situation for signs of unrest and
political instability. As the Washington Post reports, the CIA has added an
economic situation report to its threat assessment for the White House. A
further sign that the United States government is anticipating widespread
unrest comes with the domestic stationing of the 1st Brigade Combat Team of the
3rd Infantry Division. The Army Times reports,
"They
may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control or to deal with
potentially horrific scenarios such as massive poisoning and chaos in response
to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high-yield explosive, or
CBRNE, attack."
Canadian
military forces have been given a nearly identical domestic mission in a
synchronized move with the United States. Canada's National Post reports that,
"The
Canadian military has embarked on a wide-ranging plan to turn its reserve
soldiers into focused units trained and equipped to respond to a nightmarish
array of domestic threats, including terrorist "dirty bomb" attacks,
biological agent containment, Arctic catastrophes and natural disasters.”
Reports from the United States are also revealing that for the first time
since their Civil War, active duty US Army Troops were put into the streets of
Alabama after the killing spree of a crazed gunman, but which the US Army is
now reporting it is ‘investigating’
because it doesn’t know who deployed them.
To whom the leadership elite in America are actually planning on protecting
themselves from we can further read: “A new document meant
to help Missouri law enforcement agencies identify militia members or domestic
terrorists has drawn criticism for some of the warning signs mentioned.
The Feb. 20 report
called "The Modern Militia Movement" mentions such red flags as
political bumper stickers for third-party candidates, such as U.S. Rep. Ron
Paul, who ran for president last year; talk of conspiracy theories, such as the
plan for a superhighway linking Canada to Mexico; and possession of subversive
literature.”
As to what these dangerous American terrorists can expect once they are in
the custody of their US
intelligence services?
“The International
Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) concluded in 2007 that US methods to extract
information from prisoners at secret CIA jails as part of the "war on
terror" amounted to torture.”
Even worse for these dissident Americans are the chilling revelations from
top investigative news journalist Seymour Hersh: “After
9/11, I haven’t written about this yet, but the Central Intelligence Agency was
very deeply involved in domestic activities against people they thought to be
enemies of the state. Without any legal authority for it.
They haven’t been called on it yet. That does happen.”
So today, as the United States ‘watch list’ for domestic and International
terrorists has hit 1
million names, in a country that already has more prisoners
than any other Nation in the World, or our entire Earths’ history for that
matter, and as sales of weapons and ammunition are still hitting
record highs in America since President Obama’s election, it would appear
more than likely that the assertions of US officials to Russia that they remain
in control of their country is highly doubtful…and needing just one single ‘spark’
to plunge it into full scale civil war.
And whose to say that hasn’t been their ‘plan’ all
along?

From the Desk of Judicial Watch President Tom
Fitton:
Feds Attack Local Communities for Enforcing
Immigration Laws
And so it begins. At a time when many local law enforcement agencies are
finding success putting a stop to illegal immigration crime, the Obama
administration has decided to interfere. According to the Houston
Chronicle:
"Several members of a key U.S. House committee called for greater
oversight of a controversial federal program that allows local law
enforcement to detain suspected illegal immigrants, citing a recent report
that questioned its effectiveness.
"In a hearing Wednesday before the House Committee on Homeland Security,
several members of Congress called for Immigration and Customs Enforcement
officials to institute improvements...
"'The record is incomplete, at best, as to whether or not this program is
a success,' said House Homeland Security Chairman Bennie G. Thompson,
D-Miss., who also raised concerns about the potential for racial
profiling."
This federal program, called
287g, specifically trains local law enforcement officers to help enforce
federal immigration law. And thanks in part to a Judicial
Watch public education campaign, the number of local law enforcement
agencies participating in the program is growing (from 29 participants in 2006
to 67 today).
Why? Because
it works!
To give just one example, the Davidson County (Nashville) Tennessee
Sherriff's Department significantly reduced crime in the two years after
taking advantage of the 287g program. More than 4,000 jailed illegal aliens
were placed in removal proceedings. (You can check out some other success
stories here.)
Still, the Obama crowd and their fellow leftists in Congress aren't
convinced. And they're not stopping with GAO reports and congressional
hearings. They're looking for a scapegoat. And they think they've found one in
Maricopa County (AZ) Sheriff Joe Arpaio, known as "America's Toughest
Sherriff" for his no nonsense approach to illegal immigration and other crime.
(As some of you may recall, Judicial Watch encouraged Sherriff Arpaio to crack
down on illegal immigration crime in Phoenix, Arizona.)
As MSNBC
reported recently, federal investigators, at the behest of top officials in
the Obama administration, are turning up the heat on Sherriff Arpaio: "...with
President Barack Obama's inauguration, and more specifically his nominating
Eric Holder as U.S. Attorney General, the federal government is heeding
community activists' calls for extensive investigation of Arpaio's
office."
So there is a drug-fueled civil war creeping across our border from Mexico
and our government investigates one of the few effective lawmen on the front
lines! At least we know which side the Obama administration is on when it
comes to illegal immigration. And it's not our side.
And as if all this were not enough, on Wednesday, House speaker Nancy
Pelosi called the effort to enforce federal immigration law "Un-American."
She couldn't be more wrong. We are a nation of laws. Respecting the law is
what it means to be an American.
That's why Judicial Watch is leading a nationwide
campaign to enforce our laws against illegal immigration. This campaign is
more important now than ever since it appears the Obama administration and the
Pelosi-led Congress has chosen to allow radical immigration activists to set
the agenda on the illegal immigration crisis.
What Happens When Politicians Try to Run the
Economy?
The Obama administration has been back on its heels all week long after AIG
executives paid out $165 million in bonuses from the more than $170 billion
they received in the federal government's bailout scheme. On Wednesday,
Senator Chris Dodd retracted a lie and was forced to admit he slipped language
in the bailout bill under pressure from the Obama Treasury Department that
paved the way for the bonuses.
Here's the story according to Fox
News:
"In a dramatic reversal Wednesday, Sen. Chris Dodd confessed to adding
language to a spending cap in the stimulus bill last month that specifically
excluded executive bonuses included in contracts signed before the bill's
passage.
"Dodd, D-Conn., told FOX News that Treasury officials forced him to make
the change.
"'As many know, the administration was, among others, not happy with the
language. They wanted some modifications to it,' he said. 'They came to us,
our staff, and asked for changes, and the changes at the time did not seem
that obnoxious or onerous.'"
Now, let me just point out there may be nothing at all strange about
companies being taken over by the government paying retention bonuses
to keep needed employees. I can imagine certain employees had to be
incentivized to stay in a failing business the government told us had
to keep operating.
The problem here is that the government has decided to meddle in the
private sector, dedicating literally trillions of dollars in public funds to
irresponsible companies for the expressed purpose of propping them up. And
what happens when politicians try to run the economy – from finance to the
auto industry? Chaos.
Obama, Congress and others who allowed the bonuses express faux outrage. To
add to the chaos/lawlessness, the House just passed a confiscatory tax measure
that even some of its supporters suggest may be unconstitutional. These days,
I'm getting the feeling more and more that our federal government is largely
out of control.
And to make matters worse, all the while the government has been spending
our money behind closed doors away from public scrutiny. That's why Judicial
Watch has been so aggressive in filing Freedom
of Information Act (FOIA) requests with the federal government related to
the bailout scheme.
When the Fannie and Freddie scandal first ripped through the economy last
year, we filed a FOIA. When Secretary Paulson met with bank executives and
offered them a "deal they could not refuse," we filed a FOIA. And on Thursday,
Judicial Watch filed a fresh batch of FOIAs related to the AIG mess that
emerged this week. The whole bailout scheme is now approaching north of $12
trillion in potential costs to the taxpayer. I'm sure you agree we need to
follow that money!
We will continue to fight for bailout documents so the American people can
know the full truth. And this effort is already paying off. Click here
to read some documents we uncovered a couple of weeks ago related to the
government's interference in a corporate buyout.
There will be many more documents to come. I'll be sure to keep you
posted.
Obama Administration Drops Phrase "Enemy
Combatants," May Release Gitmo Prisoners into U.S.
Two recent decisions by the Obama administration significantly reduced the
power of the President of the United States to prosecute the war on terror
and, in my view, left the United States vulnerable to future terrorist
attacks.
First off, the Obama administration ditched the term "enemy combatant," a
descriptive category that has a long history and was used to describe captured
terrorists after the 9/11 attacks. Here's the story according to Reuters:
"The Obama administration stopped calling Guantanamo inmates 'enemy
combatants' on Friday and incorporated international law as its basis for
holding the prisoners while it works to close the facility.
"The U.S. Justice Department filed court papers outlining a further legal
and linguistic shift from the anti-terrorism policies of Republican
President George W. Bush, which drew worldwide condemnation as violations of
human rights and international law."
(It should be noted that the "worldwide condemnation" referenced by Reuters
was expressed most enthusiastically by terrorist advocates and
sympathizers.)
According to the Obama Justice Department "the legal structure for holding
the Guantanamo prisoners will now be based on laws passed by Congress and, by
extension, international law including the Geneva conventions..." You can read
the Justice brief here.
So in other words, it is no longer the Commander in Chief calling the shots
on defending the nation from terrorists. Now, it's Nancy Pelosi and Harry
Reid, guided by international law.
The Obama administration, meanwhile, continues to move forward with plans
to shut the Guantanamo facility down. And where will the U.S. government
release these enemy combatants – or should we call now them "homeless
detainees?"
How about the United States? Check this out from Thursday's Wall
Street Journal.
"Attorney General Eric Holder said some detainees being held at
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, may end up being released in the U.S. as the Obama
administration works with foreign allies to resettle some of the
prisoners....For 'people who can be released there are a variety of options
that we have and among them is the possibility is that we would release them
into this country,' Mr. Holder said."
So here we are -- Guantanamo Bay prisoners may no longer be labeled "enemy
combatants." The Obama administration will now rely chiefly on the "authority"
of Congress and international law (rather than the constitutional powers of
the president) to detain terrorists. Plans to shutdown Guantanamo Bay due to
pressure from terrorist advocates are moving forward. And some of these
terrorist prisoners will be released into the United States, presumably taking
their position in line for some "stimulus" money.
Feel any safer? I don't.
